  1. That's weird. When I play with my friends it always seems to work. Are you guys doing something like sharing that quest or something?
  2. In this situation the blood moon just started and I logged off. The 1st zombie hadn't even showed up yet
  3. If you log off after horde night starts, I am pretty sure it just acts like it's finished/over when you restart. I did that once because I was waiting for a friend to log on and when we restarted the horde never came. Not sure if this is your situation.
  4. I have always wanted to put a dead chicken on a pole in a pit of spikes to attract random zombies wandering near your base. I feel like that should be easy now that the zombies go after dead animals. All you'd need to do is have a dead chicken/meat as an item you could attach to a spike or something. Today I came across this POI in the wasteland for the first time and thought it was pretty cool. A speaker on the end of a pole, generator at the bottom protected with barbed wire and a water filled pit with spikes. What are your best traps that were functional, and also realistic?
  5. F5 goes 3rd person? Is this only with the cheat menu engaged? I swear I hit F5-F8 Everytime I am looking to remove HUD for screenshots or see my fps, because I never remember which one it is, and it doesn't go 3rd person for me.
  6. I don't believe it's the width that is the issue, it's the lack of deep cut to trigger the bridge is what I am thinking. The slope isn't severe enough to trigger a bridge. In my testing, until the slope got to a certain degree the bridges didn't appear.
  7. No on the bridges being turned off. I have the radius of the rivers to be much wider than normal so they often don't catch the crossing lol I do like the bridges, but I also like how natural the rivers and lakes blend into the surrounding landscape so it's a trade off. If you tighten the radius, they usually come back.
  8. Here is my newest map. It's 10k, I have been tweaking the settings to get a really varied landscape and heavily dithered biomes. The results are very natural blending of the desert > wasteland > burnt forest > forest > snow. If anyone wants to play this map let me know. I just started a play through and I started 7k away from the trader in my spawn. 3 days just to get to him. I play 3x spawn on easiest setting to it's a lot more zeds, but each has less hp. Makes for a more "Action" based game in my opinion. Well. Here it is. The city in the NW corner is probably the best city I have ever had in random gen in terms of size and layout. This is 3km per side!
  9. Do you have these settings in your video card utility? I don't use them, but maybe you can force it to engage. I do that with my GPU by setting the game resolution to a lower resolution than my desktop and my AMD software upscales it to desktop res. I believe that is how Super Resolution works.
  10. Ryzen 5 1600x was from 2017 Ryzen 9 5900x was 2020 Is that what you mean?
  11. I last year I upgraded my GPU from a 5800 to a 6800XT. The result was an underwhelming fps increase of about 10-15, from 30-35 to 45-50. I adjusted the memory setting ReSize BAR in my bios and that got me another 5fps... I just upgraded my CPU from a; Ryzen 5 6core 3.4Mhz to a Ryzen 9 12core 3.7Mhz My FPS doubled, and this is on 3x spawn. I have never seen them shamble so smoothly. According to this website https://pc-builds.com/bottleneck-calculator/ My cpu was just BARELY bottlenecking my GPU at 0.5%. I had heard 7d2d was heavily CPU bound but I didn't give it enough weight at the time. If you are hurting for FPS, look to your CPU first. Mine new Ryzen was $299 and a new GPU upgrade 7800XT is close to $1k.
  12. You could have this tied into down helicopters or something that crashed. Maybe a timer get to location and defend before the zombies destroy the supplies that never made it to the intended location. Have a couple military zombies there milling around before the main wave/horde triggered by the crash shows up.
  13. Would this really help frame rates? I thought FPS was bound to the CPU and not the GPU due to the voxel/physics nature of the game.
  14. Personally the only thing I use mod wise is Terragon for map making. The vanilla game and all the settings is truly all I need. Most mods I have come across just don't mesh well with the game graphically or implementation wise from my experience. They feel pasted on rather than an extension of what is.
  15. I can't remember which Random Gen tool it is, (KingGen or Terragon) but there is a setting where you can force it to only use each POI 1x before it uses a POI again. So a dup is incredibly rare to find in game, let alone near each other.
  16. Two things can really help. If you aren't already using an SSD to store the world/game files, this is probably the biggest performance gain I have seen. Very often in big cities I would get low FPS, once I changed over. I notice a pretty big bump in FPS and much more consistent FPS overall. The other is a bios setting to resize BAR it's a memory restriction in bios settings that is very outdated. If you can change that, it could also help.
  17. Well considering the city is probably less than a 1000 population given the number of houses, they just might have all grades in the same building. Consider it "old school" Or it could be a whole town of Eugenics supporters who believe procreation is a sin.
  18. If I am not mistaken, Rust has controls that just uses the mouse to fly. Left click is throttle to ascend and the pitch and roll is controlled with mouse. Yaw is missing, but you can still bank turn. However yaw, is handled A and D. That is the simplest I can imagine it.
  19. There was a random gen cave system that was awesome, but it made the world gen take about double because of the way they have to create voids in the terrain. Some caves could literally be 1km long and water and groups of zeds in them. Also you found most ore in cave walls. The game had a different vibe. no ore nodes on the surface if I remember correctly. You can mod them back in with SCore mod and tweaking a setting in the XML to include them in random world gen
  20. Caves are what I miss the most. Once while running from a wandering horde through the trees the ground broke underneath me and I fell a good 20' into water below. The horde is above me circling the hole and a few start falling in. Completely dark. I swim to the side and find my way to land and start to make my way out, only to be ambushed my some zombies in already in the cave. It was the most intense moments I have had playing in my 1000hrs+
  21. I made sfx for the game "Super Goblin War Machine" all the sounds of the little dwarves getting run over I made with celery breaking and handfuls of pumpkin guts squishing in my hands. Perfect wet and crunchy bone snapping sounds
  22. That would be cool if after a critical hit you wipe/shake off the zombie bits stuck to it.
  23. Cool settings! I started playing with 5x the spawn rate No loot respawn The rest vanilla default. It definitely makes it a lot more fun for veterans who play solo. Default is just too easy.
  24. aside from meat we should have a very small chance to drop a snake skin belt with doesn't do anything for you stat wise when you use it like a blueprint, it just turns the Belt hot key bar to be skinned in rattle snake texture
  25. I believe there is a setting related to vehicles called "torque" in the xmls if it's used in the same way as reality uses torque, that would be what I would modify to get you up a hill. Not sure if that is directly related to top speed. It should only be for acceleration/hill climbing
