  1. That sux....you probably won't like my suggestion so I'd wait a bit to see if someone else has any ideas but I'd do a clean uninstall/install of the game. Bring up the game launcher, select the Tools tab, select Clean Game Data and check everything and hit Clean. Then uninstall the game. Before installing again, be sure under Betas that you have checked Latest Experimental-unstable then when it's installed, only A20 gets installed. Once installed, verify files twice just in case. It should solve your problem since A20 worked for you before. Downside is the time it takes and you'll lose your saves. Good luck!

  2. From a pinned topic in the General Support section:

The logs typically reside in these locations:

    • Windows client
      • <gamefolder>/7DaysToDie_Data/output_log.txt

    • Windows client as dedicated started through startdedicated.bat

      • <gamefolder>/7DaysToDie_Data/output_log__<DATETIME>.txt

    • Windows dedicated server

      • <gamefolder>/7DaysToDieServer_Data/output_log.txt

    • Windows dedicated server started through startdedicated.bat

      • <gamefolder>/7DaysToDieServer_Data/output_log__<DATETIME>.txt

    • MacOS

      • <homefolder>/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

    • Linux client calling the executable manually

      • <homefolder>/.config/unity3d/The Fun Pimps/7 Days To Die/Player.log

    • Linux client using the default start scripts (or through Steam)

      • <gamefolder>/7DaysToDie_Data/output_log__<DATETIME>.txt

    • Linux dedicated server calling the executable manually

      • <homefolder>/.config/unity3d/The Fun Pimps/7 Days To Die - Dedicated/Player.log

    • Linux dedicated server using the default start scripts (or through Steam)

      • <gamefolder>/7DaysToDieServer_Data/output_log__<DATETIME>.txt

    • Linux dedicated server with management scripts

      • /home/sdtd/instances/<instancename>/logs/output_log__<DATETIME>.txt
  3. Does the game start up long enough to generate a log file? If so paste it here using pastebin. Also be sure your Steam folder is excluded from your antivirus program. Lastly, be sure that you have the latest version of Microsoft Visual C Distributables installed. Do those things and see if it helps.

  4. Yeah I don’t see anything in the log this time so let’s approach it from a different direction. When you installed A20, did you ‘clean’ all remnants of A19? Per the blue banner at the top of the page, before installing A20 you should bring up the game launcher and check everything on the second tab. After that, uninstall 7 Days. Reinstall 7 Days but be sure latest experimental-unstable is checked so you only install A20. Once installed, verify files twice. I’d be quite surprised if that doesn’t fix your issue since removing the mods didn’t help. I’m suspicious of some A19 files remaining causing A20 to be borked for you.

I just wanted to contribute my similar experience.

    Server logs: https://pastebin.com/JrrKtmBz

    Client logs: https://pastebin.com/vcyuCihr

I have been falling through the map at certain points. You can easily tell there is a rendering issue that creates some sort of boundary. Crossing the boundary on a minibike and slowly start to fall until you back out. Enter on your feet and you fall to oblivion, then respawn on the surface with no input controls working at all. Ping has nothing to do with it. I am running this server in a VM on a server on my local home network so there is little to no latency.

    Here's a clip:

A couple of things…..the server is showing EAC connection issues. That can be just a temporary thing and fix itself. The alternative is to run your server with EAC off which is good and bad. Turning it off improves server performance but also you’d me more susceptible to players using cheats.

The client file shows errors with the new dynamic mesh system. Turn off dynamic mesh in your video settings and see if that helps with falling through the map.

  6. Sorry that didn’t help. The next thing I’d look into is whether you have the latest version of Microsoft Visual C Distributables installed. This fixed crashes in a bunch of people. I only say it because in the errors, some of the files are Microsoft dll files. For Visual C, I believe there is a 2022 version released. It’s worth a shot. I really hope it helps you.

Having this problem on pingperfect. how did you fix this?

It was a mixing of A19 and A20 files. You need to submit a ticket to Pingperfect saying that there are A19 remnant files in your A20. They should wipe your server and install only A20. Since there were several hosting companies with this issue, I wonder if their source files were mixed. Anyway, I’d guess it’d be worked out by now.

    Hello,
There is a crash problem again. It happens randomly, without a specific pattern. Sometimes the game runs for an hour, sometimes after 20 minutes there is the first crash. The installation is fresh on a new location (new drive). I am pasting log files. If additional information is needed, please fill in.

    System: Windows 10 Ent
    Game type: SP

    https://pastebin.com/NHXK8e61 - log file

    https://pastebin.com/krXh06wE - error

A couple of things to note, your save is corrupted and that could have occurred because you crashed. The crash seems to have happened due to an file access violation. So what caused the access violation?? First thing to try is make sure that your Steam folder is excluded from your antivirus. Verify your game files twice. Lastly, start a new game and see if it still crashes. Hopefully someone else will jump in and give more info.
