  1. Nitrogen uses zero vanilla files to generate it's world. Editing the biomes folder to get more ores underground will work. Those generate when you open the region anyway so even if changed mid game they will still affect the map in unexplored areas. I've done it, in a Nitro map. Idk if the same is true for the boulders, never tried them.

I thought I should follow up.
I am on Warrior difficulty, and roughly on game stage 440 and still no zombies at night for 99.9% of it, on two consecutive nights I had one curious scout and the other night i had one wandering horde and that's it, I had 6 generators, spinning blade traps, tons of lights, 4 forges, and 4 chemistry stations all running, and on top of that 8 burning barrels, and the zombies are just no where to be found.

Keep in mind I don't want to be constantly harassed but I don't want it to be so peaceful that I can have a moonlight luau in my backyard and have no fear that I will be attacked.

You're bugged. With that stuff running you should have a constant stream of a screamer every few minutes.

Oh god. I guess you missed when they got rid of raw iron and just used scrap iron instead. If they changed that for all materials at once, these forums would never recover...

Nope, didn't miss that at all, I do disagree with it tho.

my wife wants to know why the female zombies are stereotyped and why there are no construction female zombies or mechanics etc.
PS: the Stripper zombie was a great overhaul,  the nurse and others need some love.

Nurse already had her overhaul, just not released yet.

I think any loot item that has no use in any recipe and exists only to be scrapped should be removed and the scrap brass, lead, etc., should be found instead.

I'd say exactly the opposite. The only way we should get brass/lead etc is either from ore or from scrapping. No one has piles of raw ore in their cabinets. They would however have things made of brass that could be smelted down. Same for lead.

Why do you need to refresh the prefabs? The whole point of the game is that you have to keep going further and further from your starting location to continue finding new resources. Have they cleared the whole map? Is the map too small? Or are you just catering to whiny, entitled players?

Have you ever played on a public server? It doesn't take long for all the POI's to be picked clean.

Anyone else got problems with random mining? I dug down from my base and then went in 3 directions but nothing but endless stone... Are there no underground ores in nitrogen worlds?

Works fine for me. I dig 3x3 tunnel at bedrock, hit a different deposit of something every 35 linear blocks or so.

More like 5-10 and the snow biome turns it into 30-50. Outside the snow biome they're really not worth burning the stamina, and thus food and water reserve, on harvesting them. Thus why I said if a player spawns on the edge of the snow biome. Too sparse elsewhere to merit the time.

I'll just say your experience is different than mine then.

Anyone know if there's any planned use for snowberries in the future?  They really made them pointless once they were taken out of the yucca smoothie recipe, and just curious why they're still a thing when basically pointless now.

As it stands now they are great early game when you are on foot. Smack em as you run and munch away. Yea only 1 food per but grabbing a free 20-30 food a day makes a difference early game. Snow biome that 20-30 turns into 100....

Sand.... well.... IMO sand should be gone from the game : it has limited use

Get into a build with a lot of bulletproof glass and you're see one major use. man that stuff eats up metric crapton of sand like it's nothing!

I'm using this with Compopack in the latest A19, but for some reason whenever I generate a map and load a game in it, I do the starter quests and there is no trader.  But the preview map shows spots for the trader.  When I go there in game, the area is blank.  Is there something I am not doing correctly perhaps?  Am I the only one with this issue or has other people had it?

Thanks in advance for any help

This just came up on Discord as well and a guy that know posted this fix:

" did you get the latest A19 compatible version of Nitrogen and the combo pack?

Basic cause is A19 renamed the trader POIs (along with a bunch of other POIs) so worlds generated for A18 will not have valid traders in A19."

So, make sure you have the latest version of both Nitrogen and Compopack.

not anymore lol. The new cp is way less tax heavy on the fps

A19 I had to drastically lower my settings to stop from actually crashing out of the game as compared to vanilla. Even running a Nitrogen world without CP ran much better than with CP. My experimental A19 world had no CP, just Nitro with vanilla POI.s It was only when I added on the CP that I had to further lower my settings. Now I realize my machine is not beefy but I had much lower performance after adding CP as compared to non CP. Ymmv but that is my experience with it. It is WORTH the effort in tuning it in imo but I did have to do some adjusting of quality to run it.

I've played this game for over 3,000 hours now... and I've only just leant that you can hold down the left mouse button to place down blocks instead of having to click the button every time.

    Hehehehehe, that's gotta hurt.

Recently I noticed that my server was heavy CPU on idle when no players connected. About 120% ( CPU is 8 cores so the max is 800%).

When someone connect, the CPU usage becomes again normal ( ~30% ).

This occurs after using the CPM resetrwgprefab or resetregionnow.

Since it's a self hosted machine, it make me crazy to see the CPU usage was higher than 5 players connected all the night and I investigated a lot to find the issue.
It was a 10k map with vanilla prefabs, with default nitrogen parameters.

So I wiped and removed all mods then ran « rrp » : same behavior

Then I generated a new 8k nitrogen map with default params : same behavior

I finally generated a 8k RWG, ran « rrp » and the CPU usage is now stable.
The server now have better server FPS and players didn't complain anymore about lags/fps drop even with 18/18 players connected. Even the bloodmoon is better on RWG than nitrogen.
There is clearly a huge performance issue at this time with nitrogen maps on multiplayer.

I spent 12 hours trying every cases to find out this. I even tried on a different machine to ensure it was not my hardware/software setup.

If you want to reproduce : Generate both 8k RWG/nitrogen map, run cpm-resetrwgprefab, disconnect and watch the server CPU usage.
You don't need any players to test, it happen on fresh map without building.

When you host your own dedicated server, it is not negligible, it consume power for nothing (and decrease the hardware lifetime)

I love nitrogen, maybe it's time to opensource the code to allow people see what happen, improve things and have an up-to-date software without waiting for months.

Thank you for your work, but for now I don't recommend nitrogen anymore.

Most likely it's due to Compopack POI's They can be huge FPS eaters.

Why don't the devs use Nitrogen or Compopack in the base game? The general consensus is that they blow the vanilla game out of the water. The vanilla game could measure up if they incorporated certain fan-made POI's and Nitrogen's world generation into the main game. Then every second building wouldn't be "burned buildings 1-10", or "crumbling building 1-10".

Compopack has POI's with SERIOUS FPS killers in it...... I use it but had to lower settings pretty dramatically to do so. When I started the world with my vanilla settings it didn't end well. Crashed as a matter of fact. I have it on video even. it was really really bad.

@madmole  I must say, to whoever sneakily put in the "drop all" button in the backpack whenever we open a storage : THANK YOU.

Even if it's a placeholder and we don't have the keybinding nor the "same type dropping" yet, it saves a metrical ton of time for anyone anytime with just one click.

It does have drop same type...... that and drop all. All it is missing is the ability to lock slots to not drop. You know, the ability the vanilla code had while it was commented out and that actually makes the feature complete.
