I did clean reinstalls both times, deleted all folders and cleaned registry after before installing fresh from Steam. I copied your 'Mods' folder to the 7Days folder and when I load the game the 28 Alpha's screen would pop up. It would start to load a new world but then at some point switch from 'loading player' to 'Loading UI' and then my mouse cursor would disappear so I couldn't even open the log folder to find out what was happening. Hm I'll try again my post doesn't seem to have gone through. I uninstalled and reinstalled again, this time ensuring 100% I deleted app data and steamapps 7 Days folders. Still ended up in a neverending 'Loading UI' screen, however I think I am going to try installing the mod from the mod launcher because as I say, I'm sure this is a problem on my end at this point. Nobody else seems to have the issue I am. Thank you again, Also, if you run 3rd party antivirus software, sometimes that can flag the .dll(s) as unsafe (false positive). father123 Posted June 23 Share Posted June 23 just trying out the mods, nice idea for the despair, just still unbalanced i think. i test standing out in the open field in the middle of the noon, no rain, fully clothes, holding torch so "well-lit" buff keep active (why the hell we need to hold torch during a bright afternoon though ? well-lit buff should be active when we are outdoor and there is sun out there). anyway, food and drink are all more than 70%, no zeds around as far as the eye can see (or as far as my pc can render). aaaand the despair still keep raising up for no particular reason. is there a way we can adjust the despair setting? i feels it unnaturally raised too fast and goes down too slow. so far the only time i saw my despair goes down is only during standing next to trader, and during next to campfire, above bed, and eating food / lavender oil. and that also going down so damn slow. Think of it working the same way infection works. If you don't treat an infection, it keeps increasing. Same principle here. You're in an apocalypse, and even though you can't see any zombies around, you know they're there ... The despair mechanic is meant to work this way. During the day, in favourable environmental conditions, it will increase, but very slowly. As soon as your environment becomes less favourable, (and there are many ways this happens), it'll start to grow more rapidly. As you level up, you become more accustomed to your situation, so the rate at which despair increases slows. It's a game mechanic designed to be managed, and the more effectively you manage it, the better off your character will be. ya, i can imagine to roleplay like that, still, it feels unnaturally raised too fast. even infection is far easier to manage than this. i always goes for a no-death playthrough, and stealth play is my key point in achieving that, and you know that stealth play means, crouching slowly, check surrounding carefully, finding a good sniping spot, aim for a clean silent stealth kill in a row, but it seems early on, the despair rate bound to doomed me to death with the rate it increased. i mean, i'm crouching slowly to hunt zeds here, they're a prey, and yet, the despair raising so fast. like it telling me it's better to just jump out and run to the zeds and kill them as quickly as possible. which makes no sense to me. how about giving a big bonus despair down when we stealth kill a zed ? like around 1% or so. and around 0,20% if killing a zed normally. since when we managed to do a stealth kill means we intentionally hunt them, seeing them as prey, not because of desperation. at the moment, how i treat the despair is by eating lavender oil 1-3 times a day, eat good food, rest in bed next to campfire each night while sorting items or crafting, but still the rate of despair raising is faster than it decreasing by the end of each day, unless i stay whole day beside trader and continued on by sitting whole night next to campfire eating lavender non-stop. which is a ridiculous way to treat despair, since basically we should not play the game, but afk for a long time doing almost nothing at specific spots. i think the rate that despair down when we stand next to trader better be raised up significantly. since we usually stand in trader just for a couple minutes. the rate of despair when we're resting in bed also seems better to be raised up. maybe using percentage system? like reduce half down from the current despair amount when we manage to get 100% rested rate. dunno, just throwing some ideas to the table here. Also you can make it to have WellLit always ON while its a day(need few more lines to add ), or if you want it to work only when you are outside, and when you enter some poi it will go off. That's how i tweaked it, i found it more chill and realistic... Despair is key feature for this mod, great idea but need more tweaking especially for new players, maybe another version with easy set up, so people can choose. Don't get me wrong, i didn't meant to disable anything, just to tweak it to be more realistic and less stressfull to play. Beginers will have hard time with current despair ticks, it is very agressive, good for expirianced players tho...what i meant is to make another copy of buffs.xml with reduced ticks for new players, idk...What do you think about idea for having WellLit buff active during day, it makes sense right?
