(A21) Old West Migration

Here is a small update:

 

- Woodpecker upgraded to Restore Power and Infested

- Meat Loaf upgraded to Infested (and replaces some player building blocks with regular wood type)

- Gunshop upgraded to Restore Power (and given a couple of deco updates for lights pointing in the wrong direction and new spear books, etc)

So I tried adding this mod for the "POI's" to DF. I always get these errors when loading in, is it an issue or way to fix it?

DF is an overhaul mod so a lot of vanilla code has been changed.

 

The messages saying did not apply means that when you added this mod to DF, it can't find those paths - which means that the DF code for the biomes changed from vanilla.

 

The warning message at the bottom lets you know that the code also was changed in the spawning file.

 

It is recommended not to install two or more overhaul mods at the same time unless the mod creators worked together to make them work together.  Since the theme of this mod contrasts heavily with the theme of DF, I doubt they were designed to work together.

Hello there. Been a while.

 

Delete biomes.xml and spawning.xml from the A21-OldWestMigration Config folder. These are not critical for the Old West Migration Mod since DF performs these tasks in its own way.

 

It is intended to use the Old West Town Tiling system for RWG and custom Worlds bundled into the DF overhaul. As such they are fully compatible beyond the biomes.xml and spawning.xml.

biomes.xml adds a few decorative POIs to the biomes and since DF also does this with a number of other blocks, the Old West Migration types are not necessary. They would only reduce the number of DF trees and plants anyway.


spawning.xml adds some regular entities around the Old West Town. Since DF already does that for custom types, it is not necessary.

One thing that the Old West Migration Mod will take precedence with, is the size of the Old West Town. However, that is intended and I expect it is one of the reasons you are attempting to pair them up. This loaded up with no console warnings or errors on a custom RWG.

The Old West Migration Mod received a small update as follows:

 

- Duke Power was auto updated for A21 and then given all the required manual changes for Infested and any further updates. However, one of the lights slipped through the checks, and has also been updated. While in there, the sand piles were changed to coal and nitrate.

While in there, Nitrary was given a small increase in zombie count and type as well, since it is a T5/T6 POI and a little more challenge seemed fitting.

Here is an update for the Old West Migration Mod:

 

1. Picture House Inferno.

This is a T4 POI hooked up for all quest types. It is on 3 levels with an underground area to provide some extra distance to cover. It follows a 'scripted' pathing route which takes the player to all areas. It is a 25 x 50 which is the same size as Liberty Bank. This will help to slightly reduce Liberty Bank appearances in those larger Old West towns and bring and additional T4/T5 Infested challenge.

Here is a small update for the Old West Migration Mod:

 

1. Dine Mine Fine

This is a T4 POI with all quest types covering 3 separate buildings and an underground passageway. An addition for the T4 quests with expansion to T5 for Infested brings further longevity to the Old West Town.

Dine reflects 'Spec's Cantina' on the left, and is for the party cook, Mine is for 'Tabby's Mining Company' in the middle, and Fine associates with 'Dr Cem's Apothecary' on the right, for the medic role. SpecBytes, Tabby, and Cemblack support the community with their livestreams and mod support and these POIs are taken from their current Wild West Mod play through as their Trader Tales bases.

Both 'Spec's Cantina' and 'Dr Cem's Apothecary' can appear at the end of streets, and their corner pathing is set appropriately. They fit in well on these long Old West Migration Mod streets, and add further variety to the mix; especially by reducing too much repetition of other POIs sitting on 25 x 50 tile slots.

Blacksmith Cabin is a T2 POI for all quest types. It is the first Old West Migration Mod offering a dedicated metal works theme and adds to the default version for more variety.

Here is a small update for the Old West Migration Mod:

 

Trader Old West Bob

Bob's POI has been updated for 2 features.

- Adding a Helipad and CB Radio for future compliance. In addition Alter's trader teleport mod utilises the CB radios and this will provide closer adherence.

- Back door has been changed to swinging iron doors to allow a player to drive from front to back directly.

Here is a small update for the Old West Migration Mod.

 

1. Molteny Mine has been updated to offer a little more stability and reduce collapses. Stability comes in the form of a stone helper with better stability than the terrain helper. This has shown better stability in other mine POIs of this nature. These boxes are the stone pillars and they are placed by weaker areas with a lack of vertical strength.

Here is an update for the Old West Migration Mod:

 

1. Adding 'Homegrown Hydroponics'

This is a T2 POI hooked up for all quest types. This brings a much needed electronics source to the Old West.

2. Updating Trader Bob

Trader Bob has received the 'new' Trader Flag in place of the Whiteriver Flag. There are a few other small updates in the trader compound such as double doors, and deco.
