Crash During Hord, unable to rejoin [A20 Stable].

I was playing on my private dedicated server with a fresh A20 Stable with a friend when they crashed during the day 49 hord. Their game just froze up and they had looping sound and they had to kill the process. Upon trying to rejoin they would get to Loading World and it would become unresponsive. I was able to continue playing, finished the hord night and returned to the main base. We then restarted the server in attempt to allow them to join but their issue persists. I was able to rejoin HOWEVER when I walked to about 100m from our hord base I would crash with the same issue. Each time I was able to rejoin and was placed about 120m away but would crash when getting closer.

 

I tried the command "repairchunkdensity <x> <z> [fix]" but it reported no errors with the chunk. I then manually deleted the chunk file from the world folder and my friend was able to join but our hord base was gone. He cleared the area, I restored that chunk file and we were both able to join, see our hord base but would continue to crash getting within 100m of the base.

The one with "2112,1872 Waiting for lock to release: releaseDatareplaceData" only occurred once but the others occurred a number of times.

 

Deleting THAT chunk allowed them to rejoin and return to our base but we lost or hord base and its contents. Is there anything we can do to "repair" this chunk to restore the base? Is there something that we could do to prevent issues like this in the future?

The blood moon stats on line 2959 (2022-01-09T11:52:54). The player that had the crash is whitewolf133 and their crash occurred sometime between line 3027 when it registered their last kill and 3058 when they killed their client. Their first rejoin attempt is on line 3104 but we don't have their client log for this join (it wasn't in the folder).

 

Each time they let it load for a few minutes before killing it to try again. One time they left it for upwards of 10 minutes without success.

Not seeing any chunk load or corruption errors in the server, and all of the failed connection attempts appear to be external to the client.

 

I'm curious about this region file. If it was having this kind of issue, there should be an error somewhere in the logs. Yet there isn't anything.

Looks like your save location is the default, which could mix A19 and A20 files together.

If you're still running an A19 client on that machine you should isolate the A20 files by using the

<property name="UserDataFolder" variable in your serverconfig.xml.

The coordinates of the issue are around 2090E 1882N

You can see the base in this image and when I get about 80m away from this angle is when the crash occurs. aZaaFes.jpg

 

The crash also occurs from other angles of approach at a distance of 80m-100m.

 

The chunk file that contains this base is "r.4.3.7rg" and after deleting that my friend was able to log in but the base was obviously gone. The attached zip has that chunk file restored. I also stood up another server instance on my PC with this save and confirmed the issue occurs when hosted locally as well as when running on my external server.

 

The world seed used here is "hjrffg" and the size is 6144.

Any thoughts on this issue? We were going to continue playing today by deleting that chunk and rebuilding our bunker but it turns out our main base being only 300m away is also in the same chunk and gets reset which would force us to basically start over.

I get that EXACT same "removed from bloodmoon state cache" that my buddy gets, he cannot get into the server for the exact same reason. Going to do some googling now.

 

EDIT: Turns out if you delete the player's profile in the server maps data section, they can respawn but as level 1. Somehow you can go in and fix their XP amount and add the items they had on them, but I have no idea. I cannot seem to open the .ttp files to edit, but if I open them in notepad I can somewhat make out at least what their perk levels were.

Also, this issue "Bloodmoon State Cache" is not in the A20 KI list.

I was able to get them to spawn by deleting the world chunk where they were located. Getting them in the game is no longer the issue, the problem now is I can't get near my hord base without crashing and leaving that chunk deleted also removes my main base because its within the same chunk (~300m away).

Since you only posted logs of the crash: I would assume relevant chunk errors to appear only in later logs, for example in logs where you try to enter the chunk and your game crashes. Either post one of those logs or check them for errors yourself.

 

Since @SylenThunder asked for the savegame he may have meant to test it and just didn't have the time yet. If you want to wait for his results then just avoid that chunk like the plague.

 

And start doing backups of your savegame, such a situation is always just a crash away.

I tried using that and it reported that the chunk didn't need to be fixed.

Hey razoul, have you tried the "teleport player" command? A lot of the same errors you are getting, I am getting as well. Currently the player has no position in the map so they cannot join. I do not know how to grant myself admin or I would try it. Just some food for thought.

Yes, I tried to teleport them both to an XY location as well as myself when they were in "limbo" and the console seemed to indicate the teleport was successful but they wouldn't actually move.

 

To make yoursef an admin you use the command "admin add <name / entity id / steam id> <permission level>"  like so "admin add 171 0". In that example 171 is the player ID which you can get from typing "lpi".  A full list of the console commands can be found here https://7daystodie.fandom.com/wiki/Command_Console.

I loaded your save and got the crash when approaching the bad area. Deleted the "power.dat" and "power.dat.bak" files and was able to enter the area without crashing. So there's the fix. You'll have to replace your engines from the creative menu and rewire.

ps: I also tried deleting the player files and still got the crash. So I don't think the player files were the main problem.

That's fantastic. I'll give that a try and report back. Thanks for taking the time to look at this.
