  1. Thanks. Not that I plan to use keyboard, but what about single item drop(ie, with a stack of x items, drop one item from the stack at a time into a container) via M+K as that is another controller thing that is extremely simple to do and it might help others
  2. umm what? I have used my XB controller for 1.5 years since moving to the PC. The ONLY thing I can't do on the controller is fly the gyro correctly(I switch to keyboard for that) and type, but the latter is more an issue with Steam requiring "Big Picture" mode to work correctly. I've probably put in about 600 hours in A20 and over 1000 in A19(with a few dozen in A18) and have had no big problems using the controller at all. Hell, I can't figure out how to do half stacks on the keyboard which is exceedingly simple to do on the controller(another reason I prefer the controller)
  3. Not today*, at least not with the default RWG and XML edits that i know of. From what I understand, however there will be(MIGHT BE???) a slider in A21 that will allow you to have more control over how MUCH(ratio) of each biome, but won't allow for patches within, at least not in most random worlds. NOTE: cities CANNOT cross boundry biome borders at ALL in the RWG and there seems to be no way to prevent that. Biomes are placed first, then terrain(mountains, hills, rivers, etc), and THEN finally cities/towns, and then wilderness POI's, after all of that roads are drawn. That is why cities won't cross boundaries as the tile system won't let it, at least on A20. * You can easily paint a map after you generated it the way you want the biomes, check the Mods section. You just open the biomes file in an image editor pick the right color, go nuts, and save it back.
  4. add me to this list of people who have issues with the server join stuff(filters don't seem to work for me to find my friend playing she had to steam invite). Now ironically, the requirements for adjusting this stuff ALSO is based in the game's program data folder where the game is installed, so, what are the Gamepass PC players supposed to do if they can't easily edit any files within the game install folder? Just something I want point out. Can the server config file also be relocated? into the UserDataFolder and be read? generally, one would want to change the default Servername from "My Game Host" at a minimum right? That does not count things also in this file people might want to edit such as the various Land Claim settings. Just wanted to point this out since it seems to me to be conflicting requirements. Perhaps there are already plans to handle this in A21(or perhaps even 20.5???) but just in case you might want to at least bring this up as a conflict. I THINK some earlier in this thread noted that the default folder for installing apps for windows is the program files or program data folders and those are locked down by MS's UAC settings, so I suspect that is why MS put that requirement on TFP.
  5. the point is, doing so is a very BAD thing. Perhaps for example, the MS store will always "update" and overwrite everything, including removing your mod folder. Secondly, even for the steam people this IS ultimately a good change. Those who don't use mods won't care. Those who do and especially those who play on multiple mods at a single time can now do so and take up far less hard drive space and much easier switch between the multiple mods you play. install mod to a folder somewhere, so for example d:\7d2dMods\DarkenssFalls make NEW windows shortcut to 7d2d executable edit shortcut and add a parameter to point to the location of the Darkness Falls content rename shortcut "Darkness Falls - 7 Days to Die"(or whaterver). No extra time or space on your hard drive required
  6. From my perpsective, a person who has played both console as well as PC versions, this: Is a big part of why I think it' might not be the best idea. To be honest, on the console, I can't say 100% for sure, but I am moderately confident that the rating was lower a few months ago(8-10ish??) when I last checked. The comments are pretty darn vitriolic and very few people know or care "it's not The Fun Pimp's fault". The fact is that nothing on the console(at least not the XBox) port as far as I can find indicates that this is an early access game and is still in development. To my knowledge anyone buying the game would reasonably expect that the game is done and then they get the mess of crashes. I have played perhaps 1000+ hours on console, so not exactly a small amount of time before moving to PC. My experience is: Fairly constant crashes. They happen roughly 1-2 hours of play on average. I got to the point where I just started closing the game around the 1 hour mark and then starting back. The biggest issue though is when a crash DOES happen, when you load back in there is a moderate chance of anything you built being deleted. Imaging placing a forge, 3-4 boxes filled with crap, and workstation, and the logging back on and all of that deleted and reset back to the POI's default configuration. From what I think(based on what others have said), is that the game attempts to rebuild POI's, cars, trash, etc, SOOO in an effort to avoid once I found this out, I always built away from anything that respawns and never had the issue again. It was SOOO refreshing once moving to PC to be able to just grab a random POI and "harden" it instead of having to find a spot to build my own base(and spending the time building instead of time looting and questing).
  7. Well said. Thanks @KhaineGB @JaxTeller718, etc, etc, etc for digging in and doing the work instead of waiting for others to just sit on their arse and flap their gums about "this game should have this thing" and just doing the work! While i have never used any of the overhaul mods(as of yet), I can certainly appreciate the massive amount of time you guys have invested in your vision of what an alternate version of this game could look like with a different vision.
  8. Yes, Roland, please warn The Fun Pimps to always give a warning about each warning before the warning so we are warned that a warning is upcoming.
  9. Ill be honest, i would highly expect this to be the case as it is on the Console as well. While MS is not quite as bad as Apple in this regard, they are still exceedingly xenophobic to any third party stuff that might possibly damage their system(which is ironic based on just how lax their historic ability to prevent viruses has been). Bottomline for anyone: if you want "easymode" the Xbox store on PC is fine for some mods but don't get your hopes up about ever possible mod. If you want full control, buy the steam version and realized you have to do more manual work to get it working. I don't know how easy it is to do mods on a PC version of a title. On the XBox for skyrim, you go into the mods menu and pick the mods you want from a list via checkboxes(and it shows you those that are not compatible if you pick two that conflict IIRC), "save" your selections, and then restart the game. Done.
  10. OR you could just believe me: Notice BOTH the "Get Game Pass Included with GamePass" button AND the giant Name of the title with the worlds (PC) at the end. This generally means it's available on both platforms for Gamepass. Or, on the Xbox app on windows: Pay attention to the hover text again saying "(PC)" and the "with gamepass" at the bottom, which indicates the price discount if you purchase it outright WHILE you have gamepass active. Or one more from the Xbox app: Now, does that mean it's on Gamepass in EVERY single location around the world? Hell I don't know. I don't have a VPN and even if I did, I would be too lazy to check. Is it possible that in Sweden, it's not a Gamepass title? Perhaps!?!?!? Germany? Perhaps Not!?!?!? As well, since you referenced Poland and I don't speak Polish, I cannot go to xbox.pl, or whatever Poland's xbox site hostname is and verify that it is in fact available on the Polish implementation of Gamepass. I can only speak for where I live and that is in the United States so I will hereby REVISE my previous statement. I know for a fact that in the United States, you can get Skyrim as part of Gamepass.
  11. This change, while annoying for the "default" folder will make things far EASIER for multiple games/mods. With the above, you put your mod files for mod XYZ in a single folder somewhere, and then make a new shortcut as above, and go. No more need for the modlauncher(well... that is if you have a small number of fairly simple mods that you don't want to add/change often), with the biggest win being no duplicate copies of the game needed UNLESS you want to keep multiple versions of the game for playing. Darkness Falls A20 Shortcut Ravenhurst A20 Shortcut Undead Legacy Shortcut Just make the folders somewhere, drop in that mod's content, make a shortcut with the flag and go. Is it a bit more work to explain? yes, but honesty not much more so. Hell, if you think people will default their steam install folder, you could make a sample shortcut for them as part of your overhaul mod and then instructions on editing it as well in your zip file. TBH, I don't know. For the PC, I only have steam and epic. The only game i have on MS is Minecraft and that's because it was free with my XB version and I have only played it a few times to use an autoclicker on PC. I THINK I saw someone earlier in this thread say that minecraft put it's textures in %appdata%, but i can't swear to that. EDIT: that's not totally true. I do have a few PC games that I COULD play as cross play that I COULD download onto my PC and play there but I never have so I have no idea how they actually work much less how to mod. Ark, like 5 copies of minecraft for some reason, Gears of War 4, and a few other games, but again I have never played any of those on the PC other than a short bit on Minecraft years ago.
  12. Skyrim is most definitely on Gamepass as is Fallout 4 for both Xbox and PC versions. To my knowledge, most of the Bethsda games were added to Gamepass when MS bought out Bethesda last year. Some may or may no LONG be on gamepass, but that's besides the point. I have never had Gamepass for PC, but I did play Skyrim on the console and at least as of the second release in umm 2017 or so, that version did have mods, HOWEVER they were heavily curated mods and there was no way to override that list on the console version. I have no idea about the PC version available from the MS Store if the could go and grab some random mod from Nexus or not though. EDIT: Because it is VERY possible that Microsoft has different content on Gamepass region locked, my information above is only what I know for a fact and that is within the Gamepass version that is in the United States since thats where I live and can look up the information to be certain. if you live somwhere else, then any specific game or games may NOT be available on YOUR countries version of Gamepass.
  13. Then it's a far better deal for some types of users than I imagined. good to know. I guess my numbers were based on a few years ago researching it.
  14. Ok let's BACK the F up a min since some people seem to have some completely wrong or bad opinions about things they don't understand. Gamepass has three tiers of service(may be named differently!!!!!! I am just gonna paraphase the DETAILS) Game Pass for XB Game Pass for PC Game Pass Ultimate(this combines Gamepass for BOTH platforms as a service) Im a bit lazy to look up the prices right now, but let's say that the first two are about $10 a piece per month on average and the third is about $15 a month. These services are an AMAZING deal if you are the type of person who plays many different games over the course of a year and are constantly looking for a new game to play(more on this in a minute). They have perhaps a 6-10 dozen games (so 100ish more or less) available at any one time and every month or so, some "new"(ie new to the service user) game come in and some "older"(older being games that have been on the services for a while) are removed. Sometimes(but not always!), the "new" games are FIRST RELEASE triple A titles on the day of their release to everyone in the world. There are quite a lot of small indie type titles there was well. SOME of the games are likely NEVER going to leave or at least not for a very long time. For example, Minecraft has been on Gamepass for most or all of it's lifetime of existence(5+ years?), as has Fallout 76. Other games, especially the AAA titles Microsoft publish/own tend to stick around for several years. Now, in addition to a netflix like inventory of some select games that you might want to try that rotates on a frequent basis, if the game is every going to leave, Gamepass, you get a 20% discount on purchasing the game outright so you can continue to play the game after it leaves Gamepass. IN ADDITION, there are a few games(not many honestly, but I will still point it out) that are actually play anywhere, so you can in fact play on your sofa on the xbox and then get up and go to your computer and play with the same stuff on that same game. Minecraft is one that comes to mind as I have played on the same realm from both my computer AND from my console(this is not a Gamepass specific feature, it's more of a Microsoft eco system feature for a VERY small number of select games and would benefit anyone who either bought the games out right or had Gamepass Ultimate for those games that are on the service. Who it is NOT for: people who play the same game for months and years. I would highly suspect that the VAST majority of the 7 Days to Die FORUM community are not the target audience. My experience is that forums cater to LONG term fans of a game and it's fairly rare a causal game player ever looks at a forum(and this is why polls about features are quite useless on a forum as they don't represent the fanbase, only the most rabid of that games fans!!!) Just because I don't use Gamepass, does not mean I am blind to the value it can add for a heck of a lot of people who play games it a different way than I do. It adds even more value to some people playing on console only since MS requires XBox Live to play online games(about $5 a month) on the console and Gamepass rolls that price in, so you are technically paying about $5 for the rotating game part of the service if you ALSO play online games with others. The BIG question I have is on the PC, what version of the game will they actually get? the old XB port or the new up to date Alpha 20 that steam has??? I have no idea but if the PC players get the latest PC port that could be a very good deal for those people who already have Gamepass for PC. It could also make even more enemies for people who have not played the game if it's the old port version. Either way, this is IMHO a very bad idea for The Fun Pimp's product. I don't know if TFP have any say in the matter or not(or if this is a Microsoft only decision), but if they do I would not want even MORE negative exposure to a game that is growing into it's own. There is an old saying that goes something like "there is no such thing as bad publicity" and I would argue otherwise in this case.
  15. wait, isnt' there already a carwash in the game that thye just added in A20?
  16. so, the preview images from the dev stream releases(and I think on twitter as well) has some high res renders and they were vieawable in those pictures as well
  17. Data, active directory is a business feature used in a number of different ways to organize multiple computers into a group called a domain. Think of it like a club or gang of computers. The active directory handles authentication(logon) and what accounts are allowed ot log in and NOT log in so that one source, the people who work on the active directory server with permissions and turn on/off who has access to what in the network. ONE feature of active directory is saving data from the local machine to a server so that if you moved to a different workstation tomorrow, you have access to that same data regardless of which machine you are on. This is kind of the precursor the cloud services such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc but on super duper steroids because it does soo much more than that. The OP likely needs to talk to his companies IT department. I know enough about the subject ot know I don't know enough about the subject. There are literally certifications and classes on how to setup, configure, manage, and troubleshoot active directory, so it's quite likely no one who does not have said intimate knowledge of active directory will be able to assist. My question is why are they playing on a work computer.
  18. heh.. well the fact still remains... I also don't always properly read what people type as well so it's double bad for my responses.😀
  19. im 1/16th troll on my fathers side.😁 It's not just about finding a pop n pills, it's about what you randomly get out of it. I have certainly looted 2+ pop n pills recently and not gotten an antibiotic of any kind and im SURE others have experienced that same issue with RNG. My point was hey, here are some other places to also look to increase your RNG chances of finding the meds you need which is why I posted the pictures of the specific POIs that might spawn in/around them.
  20. Any my reply acknowledged that And then I went on and said just exploring is not always that easy. For example, Here is one of the maps I have: This is a low res screenshot, but I assure you I have a full 8k version I can zoom in on(here if you want it) Consider if you spawn above the lake and head East to the first trader and set up camp. Town too small, no pop N pills. Eventually you find the next town over, likely via a trader quest but again, no Pop n Pills. So consider a fairly enw player who may be hesitant to leave the forest. In this case the town to the far East DOES have(two IIRC) pop n pills), but look at the vast sea of forest with nothing in it and then the fact that that far East town is well over 4k from where you would likely set up your base. Now, you could go into the wasteland city in the center of the map(perhaps via a trader quest or perhaps exploring) and there is likewise a pop n pills there as well. But I know from experience, a heck of a lot of people don't go into the wasteland until deep into the game after they are geared up and some never do. I am going on two assumptions here which I guess could be wrong: MOST people generated a random map and play without seeking out a "good" map most people don't have a deep understanding of the game mechanics. Just look at the above map, if you were a player who stayed away from other biomes, just how much exploring might you do in that vast sea of green before you found a pop n pills in that far Eastern city? Outside of what i would consider a fairly small population(but likely the people who tend to come to the forums) more veteran players who might head straight to the wasteland, most will stick to the forest, and perhaps the desert for the first 30+ days. And in this example map, the desert and snow towns are fairly deep into their biomes. As an aside, I have generated something on the order of 5000 maps in A19 and somewhere around 2000-2500 in A20 and use some programming tools(someone else wrote and I contributed a bit) to identify higher quality seeds based on objective standards. Suffice to say, I have visually seen a LOT of maps in great detail. While I completely agree that pop n pills tend to be found fairly easily in play, an unlucky world gen can completely bone you and especially people who don't like to go outside their comfort zone biome wise(which I assume to be the majority of casual players who don't KNOW that the best loot is in the harder biomes).
  21. True, but a small part of his point is to explore to find one. But I also undrstand that sometimes the game does not put stuff in at logical places such that you can get a PopNPills in every town/city since it's random. WIth that said, there are a decent number of POI's with a higher than average number of chem sets or popnpills crates to check and they are part of quests was well tah you can keep an eye out for. House Old Spanish 01 Its the one with the cellar bunker, end loot is mostly medicals and an exit shaft you dig a hole up in the front yard. I think this is a tier 2 quest but not sure. Another is a tier 1 quest where the front left corner of the house is broken and you go in and up to the attic and drop down a double drop into a dug out basement. Can't quickly find the pic for that one though. EDIT: im pretty sure this is it, House_old_modular_06: I'm sure there are plenty of others, but those are ones I know off that immediately come to mind and as houses have a much higher chances to spawn vs businesses
  22. First I will say I don't play super long games. I tend to restart long before I get super high loot stage. With taht said, I am almost always the trader within my group(and of course solo). Anvils and Bellows seem to be very cyclical in showing up(ie, fairly random). Sometimes I get 1 or 2 at multiple traders within a trader cycle and other times can skip 2-5 trader cycles without seeing a single one. At least in the first 60 days or so, these are two of the number of items I ALWAYS pick up when I see them because they are semi rare (except when they are not). Im too lazy to check the xml files to see how exactly they are group, I just know I always get them from traders when I see them vs many other items I might like to have until I have at least 8-10 of each(and yes by the time I am ready to start over I have that many forges).
  23. @Musicianized preparation is key. Backup your game save after each session. Learning a bit of windows powershell or command line scripting can easily solve this problem. I have a friend who: clicks on a script that starts the game after the game exists, it makes a copy of the current save and renames it with a date and time stamp. So instead of clicking the game in steam or in your start menu, you would click onto the script file.
  24. I loved 4E. I would still be playing it if WotC had left their digital tools available, I loved it that much. To me, it was the perfect system based on how I want to experience a fantasy role playing game.
