  1. My first death in A20 just went down. I was creeping around a house in the dead of night - the one with the graves in the basement and the zombies rising out of them. I was expecting some standard zombies, but instead I was greeted with a rad biker, two rad darlenes, and some regular zombies. They crawled through the opening in between the jail doors and the first hit on me broke both my leg and my arm, and my character flinched so much they were temporarily looking up at the ceiling, so I was helpless as they slaughtered me a couple moments later. I didn't manage to get a single shot off, but it wouldn't have mattered. All I had to my name was a T6 pistol (not speced into) and a T3 hunting rifle.

I respawned at home on my bedroll just as the morning piano chimed. I hastily made my way back to my death backpack, reequipped my gear, and played it more cautiously this time. Knowing what I was up against, I performed a sneak attack on the sleeping rad biker with my hunting rifle and I bolted for the nearby iron door back where I came. Once the zombies busted through I unloaded on them with my pistol and I got a few lucky headshots, killing two of the rads instantly, including the biker. The final rad darlene and the normal zombies were easy pickings afterwards.

I made my way past the gravestones and into the main loot room. Upon seeing the hardened chest, I instantly understood why I got such tough spawns. This house was a T3 back in A19, but it's now a T4.

It was stated that the level design team will continue to updated and add POI's throughout all the 20.x updates as needed. These are known.

Oh I know, I was just wondering if these empty shells were supposed to be spawning or not. :)

  3. I've come across a POI in the city in RWG that is completely empty of zombies, loot, rubble... Every room is prime for living in. Is this an unfinished POI that somehow slipped through the cracks?

Varying sizes and window placements aside, every single room in this POI looks like this. Even the rooftop is empty.

It's these two buildings right here:

oh really, i've just gotten to the tier 5 quests, but if the loot is crap, I may stick to T4

From what I've heard, there's only a tiny handful of book-related loots in the POI now and it's super challenging so... Up to you if you want to loot it or not. :)

  5. So I just accepted the traps bundle for T1 quest completion in a creative test world and they are... really quite very horrible? 5 wooden spikes, 5 barbed wire fences, and 15 landmines? That almost feels like a trap, pun not intended. I was expecting a dart trap and/or a blade trap and/or electric fences but...

Constructive feedback time: Please TFP, please make this bundle type worth its weight, because currently... it's very bad. haha

Agreed. I would like to request a revisit to crafting in general, specifically regarding weapons, tools and armor. I feel crafting ammunition and resources/materials for building are in a good spot though.

Yeah, looting and scavenging is just far too powerful compared to crafting... Especially with the inability to craft Q6...

     Amen to that...

I've been seeing that since A18 when crafting lost its ability to craft Q6 anything.

Yo TFP, can we go back to the days of survival crafting rather than survival looting? Would be awesome. Thanks.

I fully agree with this. At least in A19 you could craft several high tier weapons by the middle of your run. In A20 you'd be lucky to find more than a small handful of parts for a particular class of gun by the end of your fourth week.

The new Crack-A-Book skyscraper POI is a nice break from the usual pathing, but it seems like there's an underwhelming amount of book shelves & crates.   Also the stairs leading down from the rooftop could do with a guide light, and at the end of those stairs, either a break in the railing (where you have to jump over and follow the ledge) or another light.

It seems the quantity of schematics and books you get from the old bookshelves has been nerfed as well...

Yep, once you get the perk to get acid from cars you have an essentially infinite supply of it. Honestly, with the player being given a free bike and a motorcyle starter kit, I've not really needed acid. I only needed it to make tires for a second bike for my friend, but ended up just buying a minibike before I found the acid.

If you can get super corn, Grandpa's Learning Elixir also requires acid :)

I've never gotten acid from wrenching them, only iron, but the gas is an odd thing. I don't have any points in salvage so is that why I haven't gotten acid? This would be a game changer to get acid from them since they are now much harder to find.

Pretty sure you have to find the book to wrench acid from cars, chem stations, etc.

I too have noticed that the grow rate is different. I planted a potato and a pumpkin at the same time and the potato was done the next day, the pumpkin was done the day after.

I'm not sure if pumpkins take longer or if it's some sort of random thing.

There was a bug I frequently experienced in A19 where every harvest some random crops would grow slower than others - sometimes by 1 or even 2 days. The next growth cycle after the harvest, some/most/all of them would grow at regular rates. Perhaps this has carried over to A20?

@faatal I have a question. Let's say screamers start to scream and you let them go about their business for as long as they want without killing any zd. How many entities spawn in total ? Is there a limit?

I believe the hard coded limit is 64, but I could be wrong.

I don't get that attitude of hating on it because it's still in alpha.

Game is fun, game is good.

Hell, each Alpha they put out feels like getting a new game all over again.

Eh, it's just a blind mob mentality thing, nothing more. Ask them why they don't like alpha games, and they'll say, "because". Ask them why they think all early access titles are scams, and they'll say, "because". Ask them why a simple label change will satisfy them, and they'll say, "because". Pay them little mind. :)

The fact these are the majority of the negative reviews I'm seeing is a good thing. Outside of crashes and optimization for the game, I'm seeing fewer and fewer legitimate points of negative/constructive criticism as time goes on.

  13. Here's the thing, I can't prove that I didn't spawn those items in. But if you go and loot the wasteland and find, say, a quality level 5 AK-47 at 20% durability, you could never prove to me that you didn't spawn it in with some bullets, shot it at the ground for a while, and pretended that you found a damaged AK. You could also make the claim that every content creator is cheating in items continuously and is simply making edits to the instances when they loot containers to make it seem like they are getting good items.

In other words, don't blindly trust anyone, but also be willing to give people the benefit of the doubt.

it was nice of you to edit your inventory....anyone can do that to make their own "point". you can pull everything out and only put what you pick back in and say blah blah blah. Everything in the picture is 100% health, which never happens unless you create from the Developer menu or buy from the trader.

There are a lot of options to make the game harder, take it off easy setting (and turn off cheats).   Just one setting will change your game "delete all on death". if its still too easy for you, and you are impatient for things to change, maybe 7dtd isnt the right game for you.

    I repaired everything.

Here's an idea. Go into the wasteland at level 20-30 and tell me what you find.

  15. This negative 7D2D review basically sums up the majority of negative reviews I'm seeing these days, excluding the other types of stupid ones like, "My Internet went down, downvoted."

(I post this in congratulations to TFP. This game was going places before, but now it's shot past the moon. :) The positive reviews are coming in thick and fast. Take reviews like this one no notice.)

"I love this game and its concept - basically Minecraft with zombie survival - and periodically come back to it to see how it's going and what's changed. However, I cannot in all good faith give it a positive review for a very simple reason: it's still in Alpha.

This wouldn't be a problem normally; games get prereleased all the time to fund their development. But 7 Days to Die has been in development for so long it's starting to give Duke Nukem a run for its money.

I purchased this game in Alpha (pre-Alpha maybe, I honestly don't remember) back in 2014; I was single and living with my parents. I now have a wife and a small child, have a stable job and pay taxes. If a lonely, nerdy geek with a passion for Lego can do that in seven years, but a team of developers can't bring out a finished product, that's a very bad sign for said product.

I have my doubts that this game will ever be finished one day. I'd love to be proved wrong; as I said before I love the game as a whole. The fact, however, that I paid for an unfinished product with the unspoken accord that it would be finished within a "reasonable" timeframe, annoys me no end, and is synonymous of a mentality that stinks of a distinct lack of respect to the players of the game.

I don't think they refuted everything he said. They confirmed to him that it wasn't normal to find a T6 pickaxe on Day 1. Its true that they doubted that he was playing vanilla which isn't very nice. Better would have been to say was that it was a bug.

The game is going to be very easy for veteran players. To make it hard for veteran players they would have to make it beyond the skill of new players and right now their focus is on creating the base version of the game that is suitable and approachable for new players. That isn't to say that that they should not keep trying to work on balancing things so that it isn't too easy but I think from dev comments that a purple pickaxe on day 1 is not intended. It was a fluke and not representative of the intended design.

It could be possible, yes. I went to the wasteland on day 8, loot stage 34 (in the pine forest), and my loot stage shot up to 120-something in the wasteland biome. In one day, this is what I hauled out of it.

Yeah I feel 60 slots would be just perfect as I said, would let you carry essentals and have enough space to actually get thru a poi without having to deposit loot multiple times.

I've been playing with a 60 slot backpack since A17 and I can confirm it does save you making dump chests... Like, period.

    18 hours ago, Vaeliorin said:

Yeah...I'm using a 120 slot backpack mod (the one I normally use is 78, but it's not updated for A20 yet), and I still had to make a couple trips out of a new T5 (the Pop 'N' Pills Factory) to get everything out.  But I admittedly refuse to throw anything away or scrap things that can be smelted directly.  Sure I may end up with thousands of things that just sit in a box forever...but you never know when I'll need 1000 empty cans.

(And yes, I'm also one of those people who finishes RPGs with an inventory full of consumables because I never use them because I might need them later.)

Heh... Reminds me of the time back in A17 when I had a 700-something slot backpack. I legitimately never had to throw anything out. 😛
