  1. They will bang on hatches.

     

    It used to be if you were more than 50 blocks down, they wouldn't notice you.

    That's why I'd build near mountains.  Base with walls up top, dig down to bedrock, then tunnel under the hill.

    Dig out the big production area there.

     

    Horde though, nope, they'll find it.  (I don't like digging zombies either)

     

    I agree, digging a few blocks down, cheesy.  Bedrock?  umm...

     

  2. Just had this with lot_02  (quest)  resetting bombshelter_01 nextdoor (my base).

    I'll be posting a report after I get back from chiro.   (logs on the server, F11 screenies in windows on this machine)

     

    I was NOT amused.  (20 min before server would have done another backup, so when I try to restore, I'll lose all that work

    of moving bases (should get my stuff back),  but the quest... gave me the chemstation schematic!!!! wahhhhh   😜

     

    Edit: bug report filed.

  3. This is why I tend to clear the place once before activating the quest (especially for new POI)

    Follow the path and look for sneaky sleepers (or buzzards that get weird)

     

    (ok, the extra loot is good too)

    Always seems to be a sleeper that was missed.   I have had to go into godmode and fly about going "where is that little #*&#^!"    :)

     

     

  4. It's new.  If all works well, then yes, it could possibly be expanded upon.

     

    I haven't had any zombies spawn when starting the jennies, as I clear all the zeds first.

    (don't like unwanted visitors nibbling on the back of my noggin when I'm doing tech work)  😜

     

    In future could do, restart gen to have power.

    Now go back to the powered door that wouldn't open, throw switch to get to next area, or loot room etc.

    (or it drops the drawbridge over the ravine to the next area, that you can't get to with just blocks)

     

    Possibilities....   :)

     

  5. Trap rooms. Piffle.

     

    Climbing the final ladder of the Construction tower, step on the top, and BOOM! Landmine blows you OFF the top of the skyscraper.

    *SPLAT*

     

    (the mine wasn't right at the edge of the ladder, but rushing in thinking the final area would be clear.... umm... oops!)

     

    Once you know where the trap floors are,  it's either hop about the edges, run right across, or the one POI with 4 traps in the same room,

    dance about setting them off, and balance beam across the framing.

     

    Mind you, being a heavy armor, mg or brawler, sometimes it's "oh, frackit! Lets Dance!"   :D

     

  6. hmm, I started seeing that too yesterday.  Server works, I can get in etc, but that was new.

    (thought it was just from RAT as BCM doesn't work, so RAT has issues)

     

    I'll have to fire up the server later and check the logs and see just when it started.

     

    Edit:  from 17:21:02  to 17:35:48   on the 10th (EST), had the spam.

    Right after server logon to steam as above.  Did NOT happen the day before.

     

    just fired up the server, and nope, didn't happen today.

     

  7. You really want the book that lets you walk on mines without them going boom.

     

    Then mines are your friend.  :)

    (otherwise, stay the frack outta the wasteland early on.  Loot the crappy stuff until you can kill the bears etc)

     

    oh, the snow biome is also bad for bears and cougars. (not the good kinda cougar either)

    (sneak headshots does help bring'em down)

    lotsa meat though.  I'm up to almost 1k meat now after doing the treasure map runs in the snow.

  8. I did kinda like the blunderbuss and the loading was amusing, but, I do prefer being able to use the ammo found early on.

     

    After you upgraded, you'd still get ammo for the blunderbuss, and it just scrapped to paper.  Getting paper has not been

    an issue in ages. (in A19, clear and scrap the paper mill for a bunch, or better, the crackabook tower. haven't done the new one.... yet)

    :)

     

    Day 14 and the only pipe weapon I'm still using is the MG. I can make AKs, but not enough parts yet. /shrug

     

  9. 120 slot backpack here. Same mod been using for ages. (bigger storage boxes too)

    luckily, didn't have to make any changes for A20.

    Khaine knows which one I use. (he won't make the mod that large)  😜

     

    I've also tweaked some stack sizes to be more consistent.

     

    Wrenching everything you do end up with a buncha ton of parts that you're going to need at some point.

     

    Sure, could drop storage boxes (I do that when clearing towers on a quest, as you can't leave it until done)

     

    I dislike micro-managing inventory (hate it), so I mod it.  Even with a pack that big, I can fill it up.

     

    Oh yeah, I'm a packrate.  :D

     

  10. RNG is RNG.  I've been finding treasure maps all over. 

    Sometimes it's 30 days before I find one.

     

    I've got 3/4 workstations, 2 finding the schematics, 1 from perk pt (forge)

    No chemstation yet.

     

    All the treasure let me buy the motorcycle parts to assemble.  Day 10.

    Trader had the book for discounts if holding a .44, and other trader had a .44 for sale. 

    Grabbing those two, I made the dukes back from the discounts off the motorcycle parts.

     

    Oh, ALL the treasure maps sent me into the snow biome, all 3 within 300m of each other.

    Took days to get a puffer coat and cap so I wouldn't freeze. (over 2km into the biome)

     

    I came out of there with a ton of meat.  Lotsa bears, so I now have a cigar.

    (I go heavy into str, that thing saves a few points. same for tough guy sunglasses for health side)

    Got a lot of dukes, and surprise!!, lots of ammo. Some chests had no dukes, but were ammo caches.

    That's new. (and welcome)

     

    Just bought lucky goggles, no sign of nerdy glasses yet though.

     

    As for the pipe machine gun, well, 1 point into machine gunner unlocks AK crafting. 

     

    Bought the schematic for steel armor, looted one for steel tools.

    Can't make steel yet, and of course, not enough parts.

    (and I won't make them until I can do Q5 due to low parts/steel)

    from there you can actually report a bug, read the reports etc.

     

    It's different from the A19 launch I believe, but didn't the forum software change too?

    (as in comments on a report are now under a comments tab, not inline like before)

    um, nope. Link to what to put in the bug report, but no link to where they are or where it goes.

    That's on the blue banner. The red banner on that page gives an "oops, cannot find the page" error.

    no.  If you plant too close together, then the plant or seedplant dies and you get nada.

    It takes a minute or two after planting to see that effect though, and once planted, tough luck. That seed is gone.

    But, you always get the 2 seeds. 

     

    However, if you don't have good walls, something can (and will) break in, and trash your plants.

    (here, zeds ignore the plants)

     

    So if it's as bad as ppl are saying, then I'd expect tweaks.  (going to the old way, um, nope!)

  14. Haven't gotten to farming yet, but I always waited until I had LotL 3 anyway.

     

    Tedious is the way Valheim does it.  Takes a long time to get the crops up to good yields, and even then..

     

    start:

    Plant 300 barley seeds.

    Harvest 600 barley. 

    Plant 150 to get 300 seeds, net 450 to turn into flour for food.

    goto start

     

    Now, you start with very very few seeds to begin with, so it's a lot of plant for seeds, plant all seeds repeat until decent numbers.

    (and ONIONS  gaahh!  That one was worse than turnips!)  😛

     

    I will grant the old way was plant and forget.

    Have to turn SOME of the harvest into seeds, but it's a balancing act.

     

  15. I get the same problem. same log it looks like, (except the initial path folder)

     

    dumped the   user\appdata\...  saves stuff, and the actual dedi server, I renamed the old A19 folder and did a fresh steamcmd install.

     

    All that shader stuff was NOT in the A19 logs. ( I still have mine with just renaming the old folder)

     

    Edit:  manually installed the visual c 2022 and server loaded.

  16. By Day 3, I've got 2 q2 pipe pistols, 2 pipe shotguns, and bought a q2 pistol.

     

    Started 1.5km from trader. 

     

    Lots of farms in the town (10k pregen btw), decent ammo count.

     

    Base is just a platform on a big rock near the trader. Not sure what POI to turn into a base, or where to build a real one,

    nevermind where/what to use for horde night.

     

    Just like the original Ranger Station,  the small bombshelter is gone/or redone.  The replacement, well... it DOES have zombies in it.

    Going to have to see if it works as well as a starting place.

     

    Food was tight the first day, couldn't find a cooking pot. For the first time since A16, I actually bought food that wasn't for cooking.

     

    Have a forge going, a mining spot, 3k dukes and a bit of food.

     

    Oh, water from ponds/ditches... seems if you keep using the same spot, it uses up the waterblocks.  (2 blocks missing in the pond now)

     

    Finding vultures, SNAKES, and wolves in POI on day 1/2 was interesting.

     

    Oh, and a cop patrolling the downtown section. Very nice touch!

     

    The city actually looks like a city.   Very well done TFP.

     

    Absolutely worth the wait!
