    Confirmed A22: exploding machine guns.

    Thats great!

I want mine to laugh before it explodes like in the Predator movie.

Also the same size of the explosion would be required.

I like to think we strive for "Believability" rather than "Realism" as long as it doesn't get in the way of good gameplay.

Yes, good game play is the perfect "prime directive" in any game studio.

Because the problem with too much realism in a game is it could get pretty tedious.

  3. Is bedrock now less deep in the latest mod?

I created a new map to see the new traders but now I thought up of a one block wide, two-dimensional vertical labyrinth for the zombies during horde night (think doors).

I didn't remember bedrock being so shallow.  But if it is, I think I found one of the optimizations.

  4. The impact needed to damage key elements of a modern car (Engine and transmission system) would severely injure or kill a non-seat belted driver or passenger.  Little fender benders would do nothing.

So, ether TFP have an overarching plot that takes the growing number of "Hard to believe" elements of the game into account (Player is in a coma and will wake for Part 2) and/or they don't care because they believe it will ultimately add to the game they want to make.

I'm OK with ether one because I believe in TFP.

The problem is, The Fun Pimps will argue against realism in some cases and for it in others - and the "for" cases tend to be when it negatively affects the players in some way. So a better question would be "Do the Fun Pimps want realism or not?"

"Never let realism get in the way of a good story".   (Paraphrased Mark Twain)

  6. I'm thinking just skip the 4WD vehicle and wait for a MRAP type of vehicle that should cost a lot of stuff but would be more robust if you hit something.

I'm sure it's coming... still waiting on the airship, however.  :)

I think the rapid disappearing dead zombies are a part of "Game Optimization."  Also, you can't harvest rotten meat from them anymore.

My wife can read Russian so blame her if I misunderstood you.  :)

Pick from May 8th, 15th, 22nd, or 29th. I think we’ll know in the next couple days if it is the 8th or not. Weekend of the 15th is Mother’s Day. Weekend of the 29th is Memorial Day which is typically a day off for TFP.

Im guessing it’s either the 22nd or it’ll be June. Of course, mothers can turn like anyone else so maybe the 15th.

Safest is to assume June honestly and then be pleasantly surprised if it happens this month.

So is the 8th or the 22nd then.

So, in a few days of no message then it's the 22nd... or not May*.

*Give or take a month :)

I higly doubt the infested quests will be anything but a nuisance for anyone really experienced. Kite zombies for longer, that'll be it imo.

edit: I'll be happy if I'm underestimating them

    I can safely say:  I don't know.  :)

But I was mostly thinking of the early game where stamina is usually all you got before you're S.O.L.  POI's with restricted movement, areas where maneuver and kiting could be cut off with the right conditions.

Somewhere mid to late game, it might be just an ammo management decision whether to attack an infested POI or not.

Well I never use the Trader shop in any of my Playthrough. Sure doing quests and selling stuff is fine. But I never buy anything. Feels cheap for me. Makes everything too easy. I often play without quests because the rewards mmake it too easy as well. So I will have a good challenge with water early game :)

I will buy the filters, but I'm hoping that something changes in the future.

If it doesn't then why not go all out and sell oxygen tanks for the Wasteland and/or deep underground.

However, I'm sure you just made new material for one of the skilled streamers:  "No water filters for 100 days".  Or something like that.  :)

  11. With the water filter if it just a spam all the traders you know every restock day...  Thats not a challenge, that's just tedium then it's a nothing when you have enough...

Now if its a reward for a "Restore power" quest or something like that, then it's interesting.

With the Infestation quests, we will see.  Of course, some streamers will edit out anything that makes them look... less than amazing.  The ones that live stream and succeed, props to them for sure.

  12. The streamers have a tough deal really.  Unless you are one of the "silly high jinks" *Cough Neebs Cough* types, they will have to look relatively competent and there is little to no time to "play test" A21 before you have to show it.

    So, if I was a streamer, I'd:

-Question anyone in the know about how to build the evaporator (Maybe the key piece to survival?).  I heard that one piece to build it can't be manufactured by the player but must be found.  What is it and where are the common places to get/buy it.

-Next I'd focus on being extra careful in the "Infested" POI's as they will be where 90% of experienced players will die (IMO).  Again, I'd ask anyone who has played them already and ask for general tips.

Thats about it.  I can think of four streamers that will have little problems.  Others will die for the LOLs and the rest will die in Infested POI's.  Maybe one or two might die from thirst.

    Any other pregame pridictions?  :)

Well, we get it the Monday right after Streamer Weekend, whenever that happens.  Streamers get it for the weekend and then we get it immediately afterwards.  It isn't like streamers will get it for a week or two.  The idea is that they get to show things off and also, as you say, walk through the mines for us.  There will be few people from TFP available to deal with bugs that crop up on streamer weekend.  On Monday when they release experimental to everyone, they'll all be there and ready to work on bugs that occur when everyone starts playing it.

Your right, it should be quick and painless (for us viewers).  One of the streamers I know I will watch is Jawoodle as he is completely immersed in the game and is pretty good at figuring the stuff out.   Neebs Gaming if they play it that weekend and then about a half dozen of my other favorites.

A weekend of super hype sounds great to me!

  14. Most likely Mid-May for streamers and Late May for us folks.

I am very OK with it as I don't fully understand everything with A21.  Mostly just how crazy will the "Super Zombie Kill-fest" POI's get?

So, we just push the steamers across the field that says "Danger! Minefield!".

    We'll take notes.  :D

Actually playing dead is dead with all the new stuff will bring lots more of cautious gameplay and cold sweat. And oh @%$# moments.

That is very true!  I'm especially thinking of the Infested POI's early to maybe mid-game.

Those POI's are the main reason I hesitate to "man up" and go dead-is-dead.  :)

Even late game, will a buffed-out M-60 with all the good stuff be enough, maybe TWO fully tweaked M-60's with a tweaked auto-shotgun... I don't know.  Which is a great feeling!!

But then being infected isn't really much of a problem either. It's almost as trivial as the water pre-A21

You can play "dead is dead" like I do most of the time in A20.

I dont think I will do that in A21 for a while until I understand the new stuff.

I'm loving all of the new potted plants that have been added.  However, don't you think a lot of them would be dead in an apocalypse with nobody around to water them..?  ;)

...and yet another piece to the puzzle!

My theory that the player is actually in a coma and is dreaming this, to awaken to a terrible reality in 7D2D part2 is becoming more probable!!!

To awaken like one of the guys in "The Walking Dead" or "28 Days Later".  (This would depend on how computer technology improves as 28 days would require a great computer).

  18. Infestations as a story line would be places where a group of survivors made a last stand against the earlier stages of the zombie outbreak, where number of zombies were much higher.

The gunfire attracted ever more zombies in the area until they died to the last.

You cannot carry water back to drink by using a pot.  Or use anything else to bring water back to drink or boil to drink.  If you find a jar of murky water, you can boil it.  But you can't fill anything with water from a water source in order to boil water or carry murky water around with you from the water source.

It feels a bit too contrived.   Maybe this forwards my theory that the player is in a coma during 7D2D and will wake up for 7D2D part 2 where things are not so dream-like.

  20. Oh dear, the woman looks like Raquel Welch and people have "Woke"ed all over it.  I'm sure she would (if she could) disagree with the "Woked" as she had is the past.

Looking at it tactically, the few second pause a woman could get in the wastelands looking stunning, could give her a life and death advantage.

On that line, I'm hoping one of the Duke's main enforcers is a woman that looks like that.  The player would never see it until it was too late! (Maybe its TRADER JEN!!!)

Of course, I'm sure we will eventually see the whole spectrum of players and NPC's skins that don't look "stunning" just like we've seen in some of the male traders.  I recommend the update cost be around $0.99.

Are we looking at another 3 months between dev streams starting and Exp releasing like A20?

If it's like A20, then it will be about a month after the dev stream before fans get their hands on it.

Edit: Wait dev stream in Nov and released in Dec, or am I getting old?
