  1. IMO:

Farming isn't very useful if any points are used.  I use points on things that deal with "Immediate Dangers."

By the time cans are harder to find and the chickens and rabbits stop showing up, I'm normally ready to start hunting in the snow biome.

If I can't find a large enough snow biome... there could be a problem.

As I don't fully understand how A21 works yet, everything might turn out different.

i have a idea for the start sequence / additional idea

1- why u dont start WITHOUT BACKPACK? u DONT HAVE a backpack..a backpack can be found in the black waste bin bags (the backpack is still avaible in the game, so why not make it collectible), perhaps u can use more then 1 backpack for storing things (but u can only carry1 at time)

2- u CANT make clothes from grass, BUT u can find shirts(tank top and old yeans (shorts) in the black plastic bags too

3 additional - why not make a SEWING MACHINE in the game? so u can make ur clothes, like shirts (scarps of cloth needed), or leatherjacket/gothic shoes (leather needed), or milityry armoury (military armour this blue rolls needed)

The little lore we have, shows that the character we play had a life and fell on to the wrong side of "The Duke".

The few skill points at start could indicate the character was ether a nobody or was powerful enough for the Duke and his men to attack you and EXPECTED you to survive with nothing and repay him the huge(?) amount you really owe him.

So, by experiencing stressful situations, you are simply remembering what you already knew, like a person with amnesia sometimes does.

Edit:  This is probably the most accurate as nobody can learn complex things so quickly.  That or its the "Coma dream" theory that's a good setup for a part 2.

the game is so dead right now

While waiting for 7D2D (the best zombie game) I'm playing "Project Zombiod".

After killing hundreds of zombies, my character was covered in blood, injuries and zombie bits.  He was also bored!!!

I went: "Chad? Is that you?  You know Chad, I'm bored too."  So, I shut the game off and now hope that 7D2D comes out soon.

Chad needs 7D2D, not me.  :)

  4. As one of the older types (I saw JFK shot, everyone was crying) I know how to search for games I like and so found this forum.

For the younger folks, unless they are mentally incapacitated or live on a country that blocks this forum.  They just lurk, not interesting in typing anything or due to the mildly caustic nature of this forum.

If someone is interested enough, they will at least be lurking.

  5. With release dates for a software companies, they can normally be met IF (and only if) they are willing to:

    1) Roll back to an earlier release candidate that didn't have the error(s)

    2) Notify users of the temporary loss of functionality and they can use it with a completed package being released ASAP.

    -OR-

    1) Release the current version with a notice with the bug(s) that might reduce functionality of the program.

But as TFP are not in any trouble of litigation they can do the third option, which is work the problem(s) they feel need to me done, then release it.

I concur that an airburst makes the most sense when dealing with zombies. It does the most damage to the target and scatters the least radiation. Folks want a radioactive wasteland and envision a crater as part of the genre. A ground detonation makes a crater and scatters much more radiation. But I'm talking ICBM-sized munitions and payloads, and I'm not sure it is fair to assume you are.

The way I rationalize 7D2D is (1) a reasoned military response, (2) small craters, and (3) the end effect being a radioactive wasteland is by having the military use more tactically scaled munitions and somehow affecting a Navezgane equivalent to the Palo Verde Generating Station creating a Chernobyl-like environment.

The only scenario where the US military would use a surface or sub-surface detonation would be to destroy a strategically important bunker (IE Iran's underground nuclear sites).

For possible 7D2D lore (and craters), Red Mesa POI's were creating zombies and the US President authorized sub surface strikes on all the Red Mesa sites (probably would use the new B61-12 bombs as bunker busting is what they would do well).  They obviously missed one and that was all it took.

  7. 7D2D is a nice game I would say, but I would not get overly upset over what people type or what TFP wish to do or not do.

In this universe, the only thing you can absolutely control, is yourself.

That said, there are ways to influence others, but getting angry has proven many times in this forum to be counterproductive.

I was also thinking that crater wouldn't be a nuke crater but then I realized that this zombie infestation wouldn't be caused by nukes.  It would be some kind of bio bomb and that could end up creating a crater like that.  Even so, I think that for any crater to look realistic enough, it would have to be larger than a 150x150 tile.  Of course, I don't know what size bomb craters are, so maybe I'm wrong.

A bioweapon that explodes would destroy most if not all the pathogens.  It would be some aerosol spray most likely.

In a21 you can make that crater in like 2 seconds with the new terrain tool. Last dev stream shows off the feature (Episode 4). Still, cool crater. Huge waste of time. Very gamey. I like it.

Most nuclear warheads are designed to explode in the air which causes the shock waves to double up causing even more damage.  The ground would be pretty flat.

Nothing embarrassing about new bugs cropping up.  It's common for new bugs to unexpectedly come up due to another change.

There is one particular nasty bug  where the quest rally marker will disappear after it is activated.

Not sure if it's a MF but it's really annoying and would require the player to log off the server.  Thankfully, one of our testers may have stumbled on the cause so that one might be fixed in our current build now

We are definitely getting closer day by day, just have to cross our fingers no more unexpected MF bugs crop up...

    THIS!

This is exactly how "Damage Control" should be handled if a release day (or month) is missed.  (An approximate percent complete would prevent the need for it)

Like the police quote: "Just the facts, Ma'am".

No need to troll or counter-troll people who are annoyed and disappointed and vent something less than helpful.

Its looking more like June all the time. This weekend is most likely out if it hasn't been announced yet and next weekend is a big holiday in the USA (which TFP observes) so...yeah.

The lesson to be learned for TFP is: Don't set a date (if you have to, give a loose percentage of completion).  Creating disappointment is not conducive to a good image.

I decided to find another game to play that was considered similar to 7D2D.

So, I bought "Project Zombiod" because some sadistic person told me it was very close to 7D2D...

    No.  No it is not.

The graphics are 1980's look down and I didn't realize just how immersion breaking and clumsy that is for what should be a FPS.

The game goes out of its way to kill you.   Which I kind of like.

  12. On a side note, and while we're waiting for A21...

Anyone want to become world famous?

Then explain how "Scary Barbie" exists!  Or better yet, WHAT it is!!

You can't call Scary Barbie a "Super Nova" as its thousands of times brighter than the brightest super nova ever recorded.

Also, the longest Super Nova lasted a couple of months, and "Scary Barbie" has been going on for years!  YEARS...

Using POIs as impromptu bases is a lot of fun. I love doing that.

I agree!  I like the Barn with the rounded roof.  I live in an expanded 2nd floor just because the roof makes it feel spacious.

The bottom floor is partially filled in with whatever, to make a decent foundation.

AFAIK, there is no such feature in A21.

At the traders:  No fast travel or no helicopters that show up to fast travel?

Even if it doesn't come out in May their word is still good since they stated quite clearly from the beginning that May was an estimate and a hope and that would happen as long as nothing caused a delay.

Well, he did say that mid-May should be the time.   Lathen was against the first of May but not Mid May.

It's May 14 2023 you said MAY 2023. I bet its going to be done on  MAY 31.

The big holidays are behind us so it could be any of the next two weekends IMO.   (Players getting it on the 22nd or the 29th).

The 22nd is the smartest day as there is a big religious holiday on the 28th and that could be a problem.

In the next few days, we will see how smart TFP are and by the end of the month how good to their words they are.

  16. Active players have dipped recently, some people are probably waiting to start an A21 game (that's what I'm doing this month).

But the active player numbers always skyrocket up on each new update, this update looks to add some very interesting new dimensions to the game.

A big game changer to A21 is the "fast travel" helicopters.   More missions can be accomplished quicker, and the trader restock days could be a very big deal.

If they cost something (which they should) then the player has to weigh the pros and cons to fast travel.

(Waiting for the first tier 5 infested POI night quest! What streamer will be the first to show one?  And can they survive?? :))

That`s where the fun begins, focusing on your own survival.

My survival would start with me kiting the evil chickens through a vat of marinara sauce and then into the BBQ pit... er the fire trap where I would climb to safety!

    so when's the patch coming

May is pretty busy when it comes to important Holidays:  Memorial Day and Mother's Day are the two "heavy hitters" so to speak.

But my guess is, it will be released on May 22.  Even though it has such famous holidays as:

Friday May 19:  Pizza Party Day.  (Is this a giveaway it's the week of the 22nd?)

Saturday May 20:  World Whiskey Day.  (The party continues...)

Sunday May 21: Talk Like Yoda Day.  (A salute to streamers everywhere??)

Monday May 22: Biological Diversity Day (Zombies are as Biologically diverse as you can get.. So go get them!!!!!!!!

    :)

They could cut the zombie bears in half and double the zombie dogs instead. :)

Add bubbling hot, radioactive Lava that chases you down!

Only way to survive is... Airships!  Now they're really needed!

Isn't that the whole point of the wasteland biome?  To be more difficult than the other biomes?

The Snow biome is the "Cinderella Zone' Mid game on, IMO.

Lots of food, pretty good loot.

I don't build in them, but I do build near them.

The wasteland is the danger zone and I think it should always be that.

I never play dead is dead. In my opinion, you learn nothing because you never really overcome what killed you. You just start over an yet again you have only easy to kill zombies.

In A17 I died a lot but every time I learned something. If I had started over every time, I would have forgotten the lesson before I got to the same point again.

What I have found for myself anyway: When I play dead-is-dead, it's like the game zooms in to become much more interesting.

I used to die from sloppy game play and excessive risk tasking.   Now, early game, I will make pipe weapons ASAP (pistol and shotgun for the DPS, rifle for food hunting) so if I run out of stamina, I will not die.  Late game, I carry three High DPS, High-Cap weapons on the hot bar.  It more than I will need 99% of the time, it's for that 1% I do it.

So, playing Dead-is-dead for me brings the game into crystal clarity and it been a long long time since I lost a character.  But A21 is a new and different beast... We shall see! :)

You can experience it for yourself but we cannot yet. Until we can find out for ourselves, there will continue to be speculation based on what you saw in the stream. And that's kind of like watching a demolition derby to prepare for your driver's test.

I gain a lot of information from the watching streamer weekend; some streamers are better for new players and some that assume you want as much information as possible.

What I never gain from watching however, is that initial feeling I get from starting the new version myself, SP and "dead is DEAD".

    It's wonderful.

  23. Well, I've noticed that some people develop an extra sensitivity to comments when release dates are near and unknown.  Good or bad, it's a human thing.   Added to that, people just see the words of the post and not the emotional intent of the sender's message or even the history of their posts (are they normally easy-going posts or the wound up a bit too tight kind?).

That we all love the game shows in every impassioned comment, even the angry or peevish ones (the opposite of love is indifference, not hate).

So, if its May it will be the 22nd most likely due to holidays.
