  1. Quick question. How do I know the version number of the later releases? I see 5.0, then updates. I downloaded the final release for A5 with: download_depot 251570 251571 5316387393437744190 However, I am not sure what version this is. I know it is A5.x, but what is x?
  2. I would kill to get clean installs of A1 through A7 again. One of the guys tried to see if he could make it happen, but apparently not. Shame, this game has come such a long way and I'd love to go back at times. Oh and I am trying to make sense of that guide to get the older versions (final releases of 5, 6, and 7) now. Also, I got to thinking. I remember having a pre-A5 version or two of the game, but I believe I got them from somebody else. Were A1 through A4 ever on Steam publicly?
  3. I've been mulling over the release of 1.0 after all of this time and I remembered some really cool features that are now gone forever. Things like building guns from parts. Six parts IIRC. Each part had a quality and when combined the overall parts score determined the gun quality. We could upgrade parts at the bench to make higher quality parts. I believe that was A14 or A15. How about the janky zombies way back in like, A1 or A2? The original zombie models. A much smaller Navezgane. Oh how about the zone in Navezgane where there was a bunch of dead grass and such? It's a winter area now, but man I loved that zone! I used to have A1 through A19 on my NAS as clean installs, but somehow I lost A1-A7 over the years. Six months ago I downloaded every version clean and stored it on a RAID10 BTRFS array with a hot-swap drive. See the attached image. I'd delete the 7 Days game folder, download a version, copy with verification (CRC32, SHA256, MD5) to a folder on the NAS, uninstall the game via Steam, delete the game folder on my rig, choose the next version, and repeat. I now have almost every version from 8.8 through 21.2. Copying older versions back and trying them is amazing after playing the modern version. So what was your favorite version? I really got into 7 Days in A14 or A15 with the whole gun building and upgrading thing. Other versions were fun, but that sucked me in somehow.
  4. I reported a bug a while back where you can freely explore the map edges and even fall off the side of the map with no consequences. There's a lot of nice stuff out there, likely detailed enough to make the world seem like it goes on and on. Falling off the side results in trampoline mode (bouncing up and down once you get to the bottom) until you get out. I honestly wouldn't mind this bug never being fixed because exploration is a massive part of the game for me and seeing the corners of the map does NOT detract from my gameplay experience.
  5. I believe this is the issue. A lot of players still don't do the missions that traders offer. I honestly only use them when I need something, like filters early on.
  6. This is why we use mineral water. I believe it is 65 points of water, among other bonuses that reduce food consumption.
  7. I am surprised this discussion is still happening. That said, people keep mentioning boiling water. Has anybody here, in real life, done this? I have. I grew up in the wilderness in an era before we had The Internet. Boiling water may make it safe in an emergency, but the water is NASTY. Distilling makes clear, safe water. Filtering and boiling make it clear. If you simply boil water that has other things in it, those things remain, even if neutralized. Games always get this wrong. Heck, they had to slap a warning on "The Long Dark" stating that it was a game and not a replacement for real survival training due to facts like this. As such, the dew collectors produce FAR safer water. As for the jars, I could take or leave them. Played with them for years and while I miss them, it's one less thing to scavenge and worry about.
  8. Each dew collector creates 2% heat per hour and it lingers for five hours. If you empty it out regularly, this equates to 10% heat per DC as long as they run. If they fill up with three jars, no heat is created.
  9. Defaults. I did write a mod that decreases heat produced by dew collectors due to the screamer-parties they caused, but I played vanilla before writing the mod I did normal without too much trouble.
  10. I get around a hundred waters (dirty/yellow) a week from toilets and such. We DO have a dew collector farm since I make all kinds of foods requiring water, but I also turn water into mineral water and we use less that way.
  11. Okay, I thought that the "scream" what a custom method in her class/entity/whatever that did the work. Am I wrong in remembering back in like A15 a spawned screamer WOULD spawn zeds?
  12. Just adding my experience here also. In A20 and now A21, if you spawn in a screamer, she can scream, but nothing spawns. I am NOT having issue with screamers spawned normally bringing in hordes, some of which include more screamers.
  13. It is also common on high-security Windows Server boxes, or workstations in a high-security environment. Gaming rigs, not so much. I used to manage a server-farm that had 2022 on USB3.2 drives on a special port on the motherboard (USB 3.2 port) and the RAID disks in the servers was solely for data.
  14. I have had them on the island in my pit base, on a farm away from our base, and at other locations and they DO get attacked. Not often, but it happens.
  15. Yeah, I am not boycotting any of the great Unity games out there. 7 Days, The Long Dark, Subnautica 1 and 2, The Forest and Sons of The Forest, Thief Simulator and American Theft 80's, Firewatch, Kona, Party Hard and PH2, and so many more. My concern now is if these games will be removed from my library should the companies go away.
  16. Incorrect. We have lost several to zeds on more than one occasion.
  17. I would start by resetting everything to default, selecting your NATIVE resolution, and setting exclusive fullscreen mode (highest framerate in exclusive). Go from there.
  18. I didn't realize people were still finding out about the jar change. I don't mind it. It was hard at first, but now I just setup a field of dew collectors at our farm and we're good. Granted, we run my mod that reduces heat from them down to 2% max instead of 10% max (I expect the devs to tweak this value at some point), but beyond that we're good with the change. I do miss grabbing water from lakes and rivers, but it's all good. Now it generates automatically for me. I do wish that the collectors would rapidly produce water while it rains though. That or give us a water-collector. Either could be very useful.
  19. I suppose I should put my mods on GitHub too. I keep them on my PC and Google Drive, but that would simplify things.
  20. My big issue in A21 is how sometimes, for no apparent reason, a zombie will get on all-fours and come at you at super-speed. Had a lumberjack I knocked down. He got up to all fours and moved REALLY fast at me. Even hit me because he was so fast. Then he stood up again.
  21. Like in Ark. Currently, turrets are fairly useless since they keep changing targets. I'd love to set a list of what to shoot at and have them only attack THOSE targets. You know, like demolishers and cops. Nothing else. I don't currently use turrets due to how they shoot for a moment and stop, then choose a different target and repeat. Would love a few on each side of my base to help with the troublesome ones.
  22. I get more brass than ANYTHING by a WIDE margin. I have three forges at 30k brass each and a safe almost full of it. I also get FAR more 7.62 ammo than any other kind.
  23. Oh Jesus, hope you all are okay. Now I understand what you meant.
  24. This isn't the Unreal Engine. Just exit the gyrocopter over water! You then have the fun task of picking up the submerged copter from the bottom of the water you landed in and taking it to shore with you.
