It is a bug. I just got a green iron crossbow for a quest reward and it does 59 damage My yellow iron crossbow does 77.9 damage. You cannot see what the stats are on the item you are buying from a vendor nor can you see what they are BEFORE you accept it as a mission reward. The worst green item should be the high end of a yellow item with some overlap giving you the chance for only a slight better yellow not a piece of junk only fit for scrapping like I just got.

I've had this problem with pistols. The first yellow pistol I made was much better than the green one I got as a mission reward. The yellow iron crossbow I made did more damage than the yellow compound crossbow I bought for 10K.

The potted plants you can find lighten the place up but some wall flowers would be nice.

The big dude turned around and went into the kitchen. The worker dude came right at me so I shot him in the head with a crossbow bolt. I moved up and shot the kitchen guy in the back. He was standing on the counter trying to get something off of a shelf. The other one though, I had to think about it. Should I be polite and wait until she's finished? Then I thought, why give a crap? you're just going to shoot her. I took a step forward and got embarrassed. Life in the apocalypse presents you with uneasy choices.

Trader Jen needs to open a, um, boarding house for homeless women. Yeah, that would do it.

Night vision goggles work great. Especially for an agility stealth build. Especially when you're at the higher end of the experience curve and hunt Z's at night in the wastelands. Or night missions anywhere but especially the wastelands where they are the most fun. Ammo on Day 2 is the difference between always getting your chicken and sometimes having it get away. I was fairly sure I had enough food for that night but I couldn't exactly remember.
