Now that we have levelling up by reading for crafting, it will work perfectly with level up by doing for perks.
When I say level up by doing, I don't mean the old version that 7DTD used to use which was broken.
If done correctly the game would be perfectly balanced.
EXAMPLE:
Use the bow to kill zombies often > Level up bow skill which would also include perks > Find more books about bows > Read books about bows > Craft better bows
This would make the levelling system rewarding and it would also be automated. Another advantage would be more increments between perks. So instead of going from 0% stamina bonus to 15% for Miner 69er, each time you level up by doing, it would go up by 1%. So you have a gradual curve for perk increases instead of big jumps that are limited to 5 levels.
Please take this back to the team and reconsider. I know you like level up by doing, it's just that it was originally done the wrong way. You can still make it work if you use the idea above.
Points are outdated and have disadvantages, please move away from them.
