Moving Alpha 16.4

Hey everyone,

Does anyone have a list of instructions (or a link) they can give me so I can move my Alpha 16.4 elsewhere so it doesn't get wiped when Alpha 17 goes live?

I'm super excited to play A17 but have invested hours in both vanilla and War of the Walkers which I don't want to lose when this new version comes out.

If it helps, I have the 7DtD launcher (for WotW) so can use this but don't want to screw it up and lose my current saves so asking for step by step instructions or a link to them.

Thanks,

DM

Keep playing A16,4 cuz i dont see A17 coming any time soon.. Was supposed to be today morning but i knew its not gonna happen

Do you not know that the Fun Pimps are located in Texas, USA. When they talk about times of day, they are talking about Central American times of day known as CST (Central Standard Time), not EU GMT or Russian GMT+3 times of day. It is now 3 a.m. in Texas....patience kiddo.

Running a17e and a16.4 on the same PC

For those of you who wish to have the best of both worlds, here are some rather simple instructions.

  1. In your Steam games list, right-click the game in the left menu, and choose "Properties".
  2. Click on the tab labeled "Local Files".
  3. Click on the button labeled "BROWSE LOCAL FILES".
  4. You will find yourself in a folder that looks similar to this.
    C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die
  5. Go up one folder path so you can see the game folder itself.
    C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\
  6. Right-click on the folder "7 Days to Die"
  7. From the drop-down list that appears, choose "Copy".
  8. Now right-click in an empty space in the folder, and choose "Paste" from the drop-down menu.
  9. You will now have a folder called "7 Days to Die - Copy"

  10. Right-click the new folder and choose "Rename".
  11. Replace the word 'Copy' with 'a16.4'

Congratulations, you now have two games!
  12. Go back to the Steam Properties window for 7 Days to Die.
  13. Click on the tab labeled "BETAS".
  14. From the drop-down list, choose "latest_experimental - Unstable build"
  15. Click Close
  16. It will now download the a17 Experimental client version.
  17. Go to the copied a16 folder located similar to...
    C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die - a16.4
  18. Right-click on the file "7DaysToDie_EAC.exe", and choose Sent to > Desktop (create shortcut).

  19. Now close those windows so you can see your Desktop.
  20. Right-click the newly created shortcut, and choose "Rename".
  21. Change the name to something like "7DtD a16.4"
  22. Now you can use that shortcut to launch a16.4, and you can launch a17e directly from Steam.

SylenThunder what about the save game files in C:\Users\[uSERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie ?

Do you need to copy and/or rename them too?
