Necro thread - Custom Icons

Recommended Posts

As a way of thanking everyone for helping me with modding, I am sharing my custom icons files with you guys. These are all created by me. Everyone feel free to use these, credit is always nice and welcome too ;)

A lot of these are new items I added to the game myself. Lots of food stuff. Feel inspired to use these to make new recipes for yourself. There are a few new icons I used to update older icons for my own amusement. If people like these I will make more or possibly even take requests. I love making these icons as I feel they add a lot of variety to the game.

Enjoy.

******UPDATED*******

Updated with new icons and all file sizes now 116*80. Thanks to Valmar for his help.

I'm gone for two days and almost missed this little gem. Thank you sharing. Should I ever go the custom-icon route I will likely be using some of these.

The groundbeef is too big, btw. :)

Thanks and I will adjust the beef in the next set i put out. 2 words

Actually I launched the game with it installed (no items use any of them, they're just in there for safekeeping) and happened ot notice the output log has some issues with it.

Yes, thats how it works. Any image in that folder that has the same name as an item or block in your xml will be used as that item/block's icon. All without breaking EAC. It doesn't push to clients on servers, however.

Of course your images do have to follow a certain sizing guideline as detailed in the wiki (or... gamepedia) but other than its pretty simple and straight forward.

The way you worded it made me think I missed the question and stated something already obvious to you.

@Razz

Oh, no worries, you weren't disrespectful at all. I just got confused. It happens - a lot in my case. :stupid:

@Jax

Thanks for the update! I really like the ladders, btw. I hate the in-game icon of them because its practically invisible. Lol.

You place them in the Mod folder in your game's directory.

The path should look like this:

SteamApps - Common - 7 Days to Die - Mods - ItemIconTest - ItemIcons - PICTURE ICONS ARE HERE

If you don't have a Mods folder in your 7DTD directory you'll have to make one. Just put all the images you want to use into the ItemIcons folder as shown above.

Does that help?

Since i got a dedicated, i put them like:

../steamapp/common/7 Days to Die Dedicated Server/Mods/ItemIcons/Fajita.png

and added

<item id="808" name="adminTool">
       <property name="Meshfile" value="Items/Tools/augerPrefab" />
       <property name="Material" value="metal" />
       <property name="HoldType" value="20" />
       <property name="CustomIcon" value="Fajita"/>

Not working, i'm able to select the tool, but it's showing up with an empty icon.

Does that only work, when i copy the files on my CLIENT? -> Then no one else besides me connecting to dedicated will see it :-(

Any custom icons you add are not passed to the client from the dedicated server (maybe in the future).

The top folder name for the custom icons doesn't really matter e.g. I did:

\Mods\MattsIcons\ItemIcons

(ModInfo.XML was in "MattsIcons" and the icons in "ItemIcons")

...and they worked fine (in single player).
