Singleplayer works, but multiplayer keeps crashing. Plz Help

Summary: My game works fine when playing solo, but if I try to play with a friend on the same map, it works for maybe 10 minutes, then crashes to the desktop with no errors. I kept the console open for one attempt and started seeing yellow text such as:

Then the game crashes soon after. My friend did get kicked once instead of it crashing, but he joined back again and it showed the above text and crashed again.

Did you wipe old saves? Yes (Didn't have old saves. Just got the game 3 days ago)

Did you validate your files? No (Idk what that means)

Are you using any mods? No

Bug Description: Mp crashes, but solo works

 

Detailed steps to reproduce the bug: No steps needed. It just crashes with time

Actual result: The game crashes after 5-10 mins of playtime after friend joins 

 

Expected result: I expected to play with a friend

Although I can't say why they get disconnected, the warnings you see aren't critical.  They wouldn't disconnect them from the game.  They refer to a problem placing/loading a prefab.  Are you using custom prefabs?  That can sometimes cause problems like that as can a corrupted map.

 

I am unfamiliar with game pass, so can't tell you how to validate files, but it should be an option within game pass when clicking on the game.

I don't know what custom prefabs are. Would validating the files fix multiplayer crashing?

It depends what the problem is.  It would replace any corrupted files.  Both of you can do that.  Also, because your friend is the one getting disconnected, their loot file would probably be helpful in determining the cause.

 

Custom prefabs are POI (basically the buildings) that you added from anywhere else other than what came from the game.  There are many good ones if you check the mods section of the forum.  Because you don't know what they are, I assume you don't have any.

 

The problem from what I can see is a connection problem, but beyond that, I am not sure.  Someone else can probably give you a better idea.  Have you tried having them host a game and you join them?  See if that works.

 

Another possibility is that your antivirus or firewall is causing problems. There is a pinned topic about putting in an exception for the game that you could try.

My friend only got disconnected once out of the 11 times we tried to play. My game is the one that's crashing. When he get's home I'll try the file validation and see if that works. Also, if there is a connection issue, how would we fix that? And how does that tie to my game crashing and not his?

You really need to post a copy of your entire output log to get any idea what’s causing your crashing in mp. In the pinned topic: https://community.7daystodie.com/topic/3956-how-to-report-an-issue-please-read-before-creating-new-threads/ are instructions on how to locate the log file and how to use pastebin.com to post a link to the log rather than posting log here due to how big those files can be causing us a crazy amount of scrolling.

Omg It worked. I submitted a ticket about the errors and I guess they fixed them. I didn't know because they didn't email me or I missed it.

Your issue is probably just a lack of ram. 8Gb is minimum spec. and

should not be expected to handle a multiplayer game. Maybe try a

smaller world and see if that works, or if your friend has a better computer

than yours, use their machine as the host.
