A question about the Electric Fence Post

Aero

Recommended Posts

The question is:

Why does the health go down of electric fence posts when someone goes through the wire that connects 2 of them?

The health doesn't always seem to go down and it's only 1 of the 2 posts that are connected.

I can understand blade traps and spikes traps because zombies are getting against those.

But the shotgun/auto turrets don't require any maintenance, even when they have shot 1000's of bullets. But that would be the same with a generator. Shouldn't that need some maintenance if it's running for weeks ingame?

The bullets are the maintenance part for turrets.

Generators require something to have them running.

Point is, everything has a cost to keep it going and that cost isn't all the same.

Well, from a RW Tech standpoint - you're pushing tonnes of watts through those connections... Ever hear of 'arching' through electrical contacts?!? Same principle here. The resistance is just enough to prevent that arching without anyone/anything between them (bear in mind that steel structures technically can effect that LOL but that's not a factor in the game)... So when someone/something gets in between them the resistance drops enough for it to arc and it shocks them. That arcing seriously degrades those contacts/electrodes/etc...
