  1. For the record I do think farming yield/harvest needs rebalancing. I just think the current iteration goes about it in a way that doesn't actually address the issue because it's still just as strong with full investment. Except it is way more tedious and frustrating to get there. There are other solutions that would accomplish TFP's goal that would also not be mega tedious or unfun. They could even do the old system except instead of guaranteed +1 or +2 it would be a chance.and you could add a 10% chance to destroy seeds Why can't something be balanced and fun? Even a 50% chance to destroy a planted seed rather than a 50%chance to get a seed in your inventory would be a great QOL

I like this idea. but how about this? why not leave the seeds when you harvest, but instead have a 50% chance to yield from the crops when you harvest so there are 2 out comes A) you harvest it and get the appropriate resources and it goes back to a seedling B) you harvest it and get 0 resources and it becomes a seedling and you could even have a percentage for partial harvest maybe? You create the exact same amount of scarcity without all the hassle or frustrating outcomes
  3. of the stream I did watch, I noticed that seeds were much more common drops and more abundant than in A19, and yes living off the land 1 is sustainable later on..but early on you need to hit a seed on your first plant or you are in trouble. This isn't an issue for alot of common plants, but it is a big deal for supercorn, unless supercorn is abit easier to obtain outside of just bobs barn. at this point the strategy to guarantee supercorn is to get living off the land 3 and plant and replant till you get 3 seeds and then just respec with a forgetting elixir because dumping 6 points in LoTL 3 seems very wasteful

  6. the solution to that would be to get trader quest to reset the bobs boars. and as crappy as that solution is, that is it they also added a supercorn recipe that unlocks with grandpas elixirs

So isn't there 8? or did one of the 5's get downgraded to a 4? according to patch notes : Factory_03 ( New Tier 5) So Factory_03 is either a T5 and it hasn't been found yet. Or it is a tier 4 poi and it is a typo, and there are no new tier 5 Pois. Or did one of the existing tier 5's get downgraded to a tier 4? Or there are errors in the patch notes? Could we please get this cleared up?

That is a problem, if you only have one seed and don't have living off the land 3 and you don't get it back you are boned as I said in a post above, maybe the most obvious solution is to make seeds cost 4 of X plant so when you get double harvest you break even with minimal investment but I can see where you are goin with this. imagine you are trying to start a supercorn farm.. you get 5 and turn it into a seed. you harvest it and you get 4 back and no need. GG you are boned and can't do it anymore unless you can find another seed/carls corn that could lead to a @%$#ty game play loop. They did how ever add super corn to grandpas recipes. We will find out how to make it soon. but then again that is also a problem solved by skill points. which isn't always fun
  11. lets just make an example with how it currently works say we plant 10 Blue berry seeds and we have living off the land 3 we will get back 60 fruit and 50% chance to get seeds say were unlucky and we only get 4/10 back we plant the 4, and then craft 6 x 5 (30) so were left with 30 blueberries. Seems reasonable. you could get super lucky and get 7 out of 10 though and only spend 15 blueberries replanting and net 45 suppose you get really unlucky..you get only 2 seeds back... you used 40 blueberries to replant and you still net 20 ..you can still make stuff and sustain honestly these changes seem reasonable however, it makes farming much more laborious and tedious I know it isn't in A20, but if farming is going to be this micro intensive than I think having a farming tool for A21 to speed up the process would be really nice
  12. sorry if I seem skeptical of 50% RNG, I have played alot path of exile and there is just so much RNG in that game that it can be frustrating sometimes when your luck is awful I am glad TFP made the change and are aware of it, and that it is something that can be balanced and adjusted as needed. Farming was def too OP in alpha 19 I imagine if the RNG feels to crappy a slight buff to LoTL would be to make it so seeds cost 1 less plant to craft..(4). If it was a 40% reduction to cost(3 blueberries to make a blueberry seed it would make seeds only cost 3 and that would seem too good
  13. I saw Alpha 20 living off the land on a stream. Rank 3 is Tripple the harvest, and if base harvest is +2, you should get 6 per seed and its 50% to get a seed, my concern is if you get super bad RNG and you get a third back in new seeds. is it 50% random, or is it pseudo RNG so that you will ALWAYS get a seed every other harvest theoretically every other crop yields a seed, but RNG can be really fickle and brutal sometimes, even at 50% like taking a look at 10 coin flips, ideally you would get 5/5, but I think something like 7/3 or 6/4 are both very possible. if you harvested 10 crops and only got 3 or 4 seeds back that would feel @%$#ty. but then maybe you would get 6 or 7 Idk, I don't like that negative/frustrating or annoying outcomes exist because you can get really unlucky sometimes and it just sucks
  14. Based on Faatal's Response, I think somewhere between 9-12 weeks is far more reasonable That said though, what are the Criteria for a stable release candidate? alot of minor or non game breaking bugs will get fixed in 20.X type patches with features sprinkled here and there.
  15. well, alpha 19 was around 3 months,(mid june experimental, september release) and Alpha 20 also has the holiday hurdle to get over, so I would guess minimum 4 months.
  16. does living off the land 3 still yield +2 fruit? or +3? so you could get +4 and no seed, but almost break even and recraft the seed?

  18. well if that could be done in a mod for an ancient alpha, how much of a stretch would it be to add it as part of the core game down the line?
  19. one persons sadness is another persons joy. even though thanksgiving was yesterday I am thankful for the fact that we will slowly keep getting more POI's untill Alpha20 is ready to go stable. Is there anything else being worked on for A20 that isn't gated by content lock to be grateful for? question though: it has been wanted for over 5 years at this point, how come TFP won't add some kind of tool/vehicle for cutting /removing grass more efficiently or harvesting crops? why not make it so molotovs can atleast start grass fires that will burn and destroy alot of it

  21. It's 2021 and alpha 19 and this something we still don't have, and something almost all of us would really like, we can keep on dreaming I guess
  22. doesn't matter how big it is if I can get a quest for it and clear it in 10 seconds
  23. maybe content is locked for A20, but can't they still be working on things that wouldn't need more than a minor patch to implement?
