Yes. Wasteland is death. You should only be going there if you are well prepared.

when i get to the stage of lots of resources and bullets, i get a little bored, so i go to the wasteland and build what i think is the most effective base for my current build.

i normally end up retreating with tail between my legs with screamer hordes chasing after me.

    an invigorating distraction for sure

especially on ded is ded, the only true survival mode imho

Boys, when I was playing for 7 days to die, I noticed one unpleasant thing, maybe it's a bug that can't be fixed for a long time? When I shoot or hit a zombie in a certain area, it grabs the place I hit. That is, does he feel pain? For example, I shot in the shoulder and the zombie grabbed his shoulder as if feeling pain. Isn't that inherently illogical? Right? The dead, according to the idea, should not react to external stimuli in any way and naturally they do not feel pain. It's also a little unclear to me why they are shaking so constantly? And another question: are there any plans to add zombies with more human faces and without emotional ones, such as Tom Clark, zombie soldier and zombie stripper (party girl), it seems to me that such zombies cause more creeps with poker face than zombies with evil faces. I hope they will answer me. Thanks

the lore behind the zombies is still unclear. are they actually dead?

besides, from the standpoint of game play, if they put their arm where they are hit with the first bullet, does that then absorb the second bullet, making them that little bit harder to kill?

dont be put off by the name 'fun' pimps, they are a devious bunch

  2. omg i am craving this alpha. the dismembering looks dreamy.

@lazman and or @roland, please give me a hint, which is the best weapon for my first playthru for the maximum splatter?

and i am not a complete sicko, i am still working on it

Anytime such things like fishing gets brought up, Madmole says that there needs to be some things saved for 7 Days to Die 2. So its possible some of these features might come in the future but not for this game.

my fist ever gamer tag was fishkiller. think berkeley university and the birth of the internet and moria

fishing is my primary...     drive i suppose.

i have a degree in fisheries and aquaculture

if fishing makes it into 7dtd then there is no reason for the real world to exist

    full lawnmower man.

and yes i like gardening as well. in fact i am bowing out of society and planting a food forest in the tippy top of new zealand.

    scary correlations all around.

if you get all those references then id like to marry your granddaughter

The increase in balance between attributes is huge. The overall decrease in difficulty is almost negligible, especially if most players simply took Strength to avoid the increased difficulty of paying for sexrex in other attributes.

    calling you out here

    show me your workings

  5. hello @faatal

sorry to disturb you, but i have a question.

i am watching the @jawoodle current series which he has a mod where you get burned by the sun during the day if it is directly overhead. (love your stuff by the way Josh my anzac bro)

Josh has said that the intent of the mod was to be safe from the sun if in a shadow of a building. so if the ground looks in shadow, then the sun couldnt burn you. its like a vampire mod intent really i suppose.

it is a great concept, and could be expanded so if you were in the gaze of the moon you would be a werewolf or any number of things people smarter than me could come up with.

is there a tweak you could do to make this concept work?

i suppose there is a thing between top down sun effect (maybe tied in with farming, rain, who knows what else) versus the angles of shadow casting.

i used to program an sql server but now i stuff supermarket shelves, so what would i know? lost 20 kg though.... and my beard is bigger than @madmole so lol!

  6. how about a radial selector on the wiring tool that we can choose to hook up visible wires or invisible wires?

quite like the steam punk look in some designs, but dont so much like seeing wires in the field of view at the fighting positions.

either way though, i am not upset with this change, not a lot of skin in it

  7. so heres a question for you  @Roland

if you wanted to role play as chuck norris, what skill trees would you invest in and why.

and what if you wanted to build an impenetrable fortress, what skill trees and why

i swap between these two usually. tending more towards mass murder mwah ha ha ha

you may answer in photo clue style, engrish or interpretive dance, your call

lol...this punctuates exactly how hard it is to wrap your head around these changes. Miner 69er no longer governs the quality of tools you make-- none of the perks do. The magazine for tool crafting does that. Even after playing, I also would often forget that this perk or that perk no longer had anything to do with crafting. This change will very much affect how you spend points and what you spend them on. It will be interesting to see what everyone gravitates to and the relative importance of certain perks has changed a lot.

all i take from this then is good stuff comes from grind

unless points in miner increases whatever stat regardless of quality of tool used...   significantly

otherwise good things are gated behind how many mags you read (looting rng aside).

yes i understand putting points in will increase the chance of getting the mag you order via skill point expenditure

    sounds like uber apocalypse

hopefully i am as dumb as i seem and am missing some nuance here

  9. i dunno...

kinda get the feeling that these changes are going to affect how we spend our points. i sometimes put points into master chef to unlock recipes, because i want them. if that no longer applies, i dont think i will spend them there, ever.

if we have to loot lots to advance (i lot a LOT btw) then efficiency doesnt matter too much because i have heaps of resource anyways.

that means points will be spent more and more on more immediately useful skills, narrowing down the scope of character builds, unless we are properly role playing and want to become a cook for example.

take better barter. if bonuses dont allow for a better trader inventory, im better off investing in a different skill to generate cash. like miner 69er to make lvl5 tools to sell (with mods of course). that way i get the cash as a spin off from utility skills.

probably not well explained, but it seems there will be a narrower path, with fun stuff accessible only thru grind.

i think if we want to specialise in something, like being a cook, then we should be able to spend points and get the recipes. otherwise, whats the point of the skills like master chef and better barter? having a @%$# ton of stuff in your chest when you die or move on to another play thru?

who cares about efficiency cooking when you have just killed 20 cougars/bears/wolves in 5 minutes in the snow biome from the safety of the trader compound and harvested them all for meat?

Instead of removing nerd polling, they could also try to remove the pickup option (E) when outside your LCB.

You would still be able to escape, but it would cost you a little bit.

all this angst over nerd poling and stash cheesing... next comes the how dare you tell me how to play... we have seen this cycle over and over.

if the devs prevent it, some clever sausage will mod it back in so no one needs to be upset about it. seems like everyones tastes can be catered for somehow.

i am pleasantly surprised we havent had a blow up over the secret stash being removed. does that mean we have grown up a bit and @roland can give us another crumb?

and hurt a bit getting back down

  12. nerd poling. a divisive issue.

    do i nerdpole? yes

    all the time? no

mostly when i get effed off because i fell of some stupid parkour heavy route to finish a poi in the way it was designed.

thats fine but i am old and useless at games and hate jumpy jumpy fall and start again type scenarios

the SINGLE best thing about 7dtd imho is i CAN circumvent any impediment when i choose to.  from nerd poling to cheating in that mini bike i earnt that fell thru the ground to, well hitting pause because i need a @%$#e or a drink or a root lol. you cant pause real life, so even thats an exploit really...

its all down to self discipline

time to self discipline myself. @snowdog, and recommendations?

I don't see the point. We now have ladders that can be picked up again.

i personally wouldn't want to see the end of nerdpoling. I use it to get steel from telephone pole wrenching. now we could use ladders to get up there. but the frames block is glitchy. if you are full and the frame shape isnt on the exact wood block frame shape, it wont pick up the ladder shape. and that gets annoying. I prefer fun to small annoyances. I also use nerd poling while mining to start the main shaft, and at times, yes, that includes within range of a prefab.

how about if we could chop down the pole, and it fell down (with noise i suppose) and then we could harvest the top section when it is lying on the ground...

pretty sure that irl molecular composition doesn't change when tipping 90 degrees as it crashes to the ground...
