Dynamic Mesh

How is this system supposed to work? Is it supposed to override Load Distance settings? Is Dynamic Mesh Distance supposed to be tied to Land claim block or the player? If Dynamic Mesh is set to off should the other setting in the Dynamic Mesh menu affect the game?

The reason i asked these questions is i have been trying to figure out why things in my game are not loading in properly or popping into view as i get close to them and i finally figured out that it is because the mesh distance is set to 500 in my game from me changing it earlier in the alpha to try to get better performance, ultimately i just decided to turn it off. Since then i have just kind of deal with it and have been using settings similar to what i was using in A19 but not really with the same performance.

Now i have the Load Distance setting set to high and Dynamic Mesh set to off but the world doesn't seem to load more than the 500m distance set in Dynamic Mesh settings, but if you change the value to to the other higher distances more of the world will load, without turning on Dynamic Mesh. Yes i know to restart game for Mesh On/Off setting but the distance setting will change in game.

If you want to try it, just set Load distance to high (no other video settings seem to matter) 

Dynamic Mesh Enabled - No

Mesh Distance - 100/500/1000/1500/2000 (screenshots for 100/500/1000/1500/2000 included, on 2000 more buildings load than map)

Mesh Quality - Yes or No ( doesn't seem to matter, but does seem to have some affect on graphics quality when close to objects and switching between yes/no on lower graphic settings)

Land Claim Only - Yes

Land Claim Buffer - 1 (doesn't seem to matter)

Max Region Loads - 1 (doesn't seem to matter)

Max Mesh Processing - 1 (doesn't seem to matter)

While Dynamic Mesh is disabled, Mesh Distance still has an important influence on the performance in huge cities.

 

@unholyjoe Don’t know if the devs are already aware of it, IMHO that’s worth an official bug report – isn’t it?

 

 

I'd say make a bug report. Add actual data (FPS at specific settings) and see what comes of it.
