Message spamming into my logs

Any idea what this means, or how to fix it? The server isn't crashing or anything but this spams multiple times:

SocketException: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.

I'm running an AMD Ryzon Dedicated server.

Im on a ryzen 7 1800x and dont have this issue.

Google has informed me this is a .netframework issue and you are likely 2-3 updates behind. (It cant update .net framework iff your server is using the service is the likely culprit)

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...-net-framework (To update to APR 2020 .net framework via microsoft website)

"- Addresses rare crashes that could occur if Server GC is enabled and a GC occurs while another thread is running NGen'ed code which is making the initial call into NGen'ed code in a 2nd module where one or more parameter types involve valuetypes defined in a 3rd module."

This seems to affect you sir.

Make sure to fully close steam and shut down your server once a month and reboot your PC- just to make sure all updates install ;)

Steam pushed an update for the .net framework last week or so if memory serves. Suprised you didnt get it. :(

1. You have a mod conflict there with the HH_Casino mod, and RELXIX_UI_ZDP3_ZombieKillsDeathsPlayerKills does not load properly.

2. The error you listed in the OP is most likely because the port was busy, or the packets got dropped between your server and Botman. It's not spamming it initially, but does occur later much more frequently.

Most likely causes are as follows.

  • Antivirus/antimalware software locking the port or executable for scans.
  • Firewall or port forwarding issues.
  • Server is too overloaded to be able to respond to the requests, and it times out.
  • People with special characters in their names tend to fuck things up. User with Steam ID 76561198091390918 is also likely to corrupt the Botman databases. Notice how his Steam name shows "❊TabTerbly", yet the log is showing "âŠTabTerbly". This is why we have options to block people not using valid names in most good servers. CPM has an option to block UTF8 Names, I'm certain BCM/Botman does as well. (Especially after the work I did with Smeg tracking down some issues caused by those players a couple of years ago.)
  • Your hardware is simply overloaded. The CPU seems capable enough, but what about your HDD and network?
  • Max player count is too high. 40 is known to have issues. 8 is supported, 20 is stable, 30 is the upper limit. Don't care what you see people doing with their servers, 40 is known to be unstable and has issues.

This is very helpful feedback, I appreciate it!

@Sylen, to answer your causes:

  • I haven't overloaded my server yet with 40. It's currently setup as 32 public slots, 8 reserved slots;
  • I have enabled that feature on Botman, thank you!
  • The server is a dedicated server out of a data center in LA and it runs on a 512 GB Primary SSD / NVMe Drive; and
  • For sure, running some tests Sylen, if I find my server can't handle it I will reduce slots, I appreciate it!

SSD or NVMe? It makes a difference. If it's just one SSD, not good. If it's one NVMe, it's probably fine. At a minimum you should have two SSD's in RAID-0 for that kind of load.

Will do, monitoring the server now!

Let me know if I have to open up a new thread Sylen, but what causes player profiles to become corrupt, i.e.: You try to join the game and it remains stuck in "Creating Player" for hours? What is the solution and how do you prevent this?

Thank you

Usually this is caused by either the client exiting the game improperly, or the server shutting down incorrectly (crashing) The fix for it is to delete the players .ttp and .ttp.bak files on the server. You can then gift them the exp and some items back afterwards. (If you're using a server manager like Botman or CSMM you can see their inventory before you wipe it.)
