  1. As for demolishers:

To reach gamestage 153 that would make them show up, at a day 31 BM in SP you would need a player level of 97.
For the aforementioned MP with two players, player levels of 54 each would be required on said day.
All without any deaths ever, mind you.

Spawning based on GS varies as laid out in gamestages.xml.

A GS 74 BM horde might feel quite a bit more relaxed than a GS 69 one, for example, depending on how you feel about cops.

That is where you can alter values to increase pressure based on individual spawn behaviour to your liking - or simply edit difficultyBonus or startingWeight ( MP only) or diminishingReturns ( MP only) to increase your effective ( party) gamestage.
In entitygroups.xml you can alter the personnel of the spawns who are referenced in gamestages.xml.
For instance, you could add demolishers to any spawn you like.
I do not know when or how often the groups in these files get auto-generated, so if you feel like editing a lot, I suggest keeping a backup or writing a modlet. :)

I could not tell about a setting in serverconfig.xml or a different feel for dedi and client, respectively.

so in theory im at game stage 132 atm in my game so i should get demos next BM correct also im on day 26 and default difficulty

You would need to raise your gamestage by 21, for SP meaning your level + daysalive would need to rise by 18. Given that you have two days if you play default bloodmoon every 7th day, you would have to level up 16 times without dying in those two days.

I hope I did not overlook something in these morning hours but even with some minor oversight it is quite a feat.

  3. In MP I will buy everything i deem useful as the rest of my weekly group are completely lost in the plethora of books and schematics and their relationships to perks, so most looted books essentially go to waste.

In SP I buy neither books nor schematics except for Art of Mining 7. I am not a trader fan at all but being dependant on stationary lighting forever ( I have yet to loot this book for the very first time) is too huge a handicap in my book 😉

    I don’t remember that I ignored someone

I am inclined to take this as a fact as

    Quote

Stop writing to me about someone who using sledgehammer to kill a alone zombie on nightmare difficulty. I do it myself too

this is not what most people have been writing about on the last three pages. @BFT2020 being one of them and beating me to the answer.

Then again, maybe you in fact have a lot of people on ignore and wonder why I am babbling about three pages of "melee rocks" reports.

They had repeatedly stated ( I am so going to quote myself here :) )

    Quote

There have been reports from enough players stating they are completely fine with melee on difficulties of survivalist and beyond and any Z speed.

and you just went on about how melee is not viable at higher difficulties despite people actually thriving on said difficulties while maining melee weapons.

They had not stated that they pulled out a melee weapon for giggles once and totally owned that lone zombie while barely surviving: they are mainly playing said melee weapon and, again, not only on lower difficulties.

    Quote

In that case, even if the developers mentioned it why are you arguing? You want to attack me, instead of supporting rework of truly dead/boring abilities, you attack me about borderline examples and all write same things about the using sledgehammers.

Me, I am not arguing the javelin, just stating that except for javelin master every single other perk out there that directly empowers a given melee weapon does add abilities way beyond the 50% flat damage bonus. I will go so far as to claim that the 50% damage bonus is the least interesting ( sic!) and least empowering of the bonuses that each of the perks directly connected to a melee weapon provides.

This is not accounted for by making the flat 50% bonus a main argument why all melee perks are boring and uninteresting and are in dire need of change.

As said argument only pertains to the javelin. So much for edge cases.

Neither have I observed any attacks on you; by me or anyone else. Ok, someone questioned your size, once, but we're all only human here.

And, to be absolutely honest, the calling out pervs and abusers and whatnot has not been directed at you.

To be sure, I do not know about the dying frequency of the melee camp but surely they would not take the challenge if they saw absolutely no light at the end of the tunnel. I wouldn't for sure. You wouldn't I think. Real players wouldn't, and even perverts might be discouraged at times.

Sorry for adding to the clutter overall.

The fact that some "playstyles" are only available only at low difficulty suggests that there is an imbalance in the game, so what's wrong with asking to balance them? You attack me like I'm suggesting that all melee weapons shoueld be removed

In addition, initially it was about making these abilities more interesting than 10/20/30/40/50% damage, I'm already tired of writing about this

There have been reports from enough players stating they are completely fine with melee on difficulties of survivalist and beyond and any Z speed. Your ignoring these as they contradict your opinion and experience does not make them any less real.

So, out of the window for not being viable only on low dificulties are hammers, knuckles, clubs and batons, going only by these last pages in the thread.

That leaves us with javelins and maybe knives, with javelins incidentally also being the single one melee weapon whose related perk does soleley add the oft-mentioned flat and uninteresting 50% damage bonus and nothing else. That this whole attribute is on the radar for being reviewed has been stated, so you had been heard before you even spoke up.

Repetition of those arguments that had been disproven already is tiresome to everyone involved, be sure about that. 😉

  6. Left stick not working as you said in the other thread sounds like Steam controller desktop config is being utilized.

Using GloSC, you would have to uncheck desktop config in GloSC - or set up Steam's desktop config to reflect your actual 'game' controller settings.

I am in no way associated with GloSC; it is just the only solution that has worked for me for now.

  7. For what it is worth, we had that issue occuring for several alphas, too.

But vehicles replicating started in A19 only, as far as I can tell ;)

It was always some player that had a notibly bad connection on that particular evening, resulting in disconnects at times.

Vehicles disappearing has not always been happening on disconnect, though: it did on occasion, and sometimes it did not, sometimes it happened out of the blue.

Also, steamnetworking enabled or disabled made no difference.

Never had there been any server or client log entries to the likes off "High packet loss, disconnecting client" which makes a bug report close to pointless.

I will test with yet another server with hopefully better carrier peering shortly to gain more insight.

  8. Just a word before you go all hydro on your card:

Asus shipped quite some 2080 models with dual BIOS ( performance & quiet).

If you have one of those and if you are running in quiet mode:

you could switch to performance mode, making the card more noticable in general but it would surely rid you of the sudden rushes of fan activity when there is some serious work to do for your card.

The same - read: better - could be achieved by setting a manual curve in GPU Tweak, of course, as in @SylenThunder's example.

In addition, the final game will be much more playable and replayable than in the current Alpha 19.

Which is an assumption of yours. Sandbox is bound to pull a great deal of its allure from being Sandbox, and leaving it up to the player to take initiative and define their challenge within that frame as soon as basic skills have been acquired.

That is not to say that purpose and (NPC) interaction as well as challenge by even more and even stronger foes are not to be considered valuable assets but especially the last one gets old rather quickly, and then the demand rises for yet more and more resilient objectives to overcome.

I strongly believe in new content adding to the feeling of purpose and goal but once you've seen it, you've seen it.

@Liesel Weppen beat me to it, so I simply express my consent to his proposed solution to satisfy your appetite.

  10. As on previous root servers with Xeon CPUs 8k map generation on Linux ( Debian, Fedora) had been crashing upon generating towns in every single case for the dedicated server, I went on to test behaviour on a server with an AMD Epyc CPU.

On this setup, generation stops using all cores exactly when the Gamesparks Disconnected/Connected messages appear. From that point, just a single core is utilized by the dedi.

I had read that gamesparks does nothing (yet) on dedicated servers. Well, that is not the case. 😉

Maybe someone around here has any clue as to why this happens and how this issue could be dealt with?

  11. A not-so-wild guess is that one of the xml files in your saves folder has a carriage return aka "return" where it does not belong.

Might be the file got corrupted when you tried to delete that old save.

For starters, you might want to navigate to C:\Users\<your_user>\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves and check for subfolders there.

The folders bear the names of the worlds the games got created in and, again, subfolders will bear the names of the actual save games.

You might recognize the name of the save you tried to delete. If so, move the folder bearing that name to a different location and check whether the behaviour is normal again.

If that does not help, you could proceed to move the other folders one by one, checking for New/Continue option after each.

  12. I have not been able to consistently get the DS4 to work for the mod launcher using Steam only, either.

You might want to have a look at GloSC which did the trick for me reproducibly which every other apparent solution "out there" could not.

Can someone name one game option that exists in the registry that the OP might be talking about needing to go there to change? I’m trying to understand their complaint and am coming up short.

I am too lazy to look that up but I can understand the complaint where it concerns

backing up, restoring or moving an application to a different location a serious pain in the behind.

    - looking at you, "invalid D-WORD value"s here.

Is it worth a rant over having to import a backup file you have to create instead of just copying a config file with the rest of the game folder? Probably not.

Did it evoke utterances from me that would make the swear-word filter die from indignation when I first became aware of the matter? You bet!

  14. Of course I can simply play as if they weren't there in the curent state of the game - and for the most part I do, and thriving as you said.

I just cannot help but wonder whether things are to stay that way or if their role is to be extended up to a point where one is seriously missing out by ignoring them, or continously reminded to pay them a visit after the starting quests, or else...

That's what I would welcome any news about.

    10) Trader to Trader progression = -10000 still the NPC vendors in survival game is -10000. Survival game for millennials : earn the money to buy stuff from shop. Challenging and scary !

While I am completely with you on not missing traders for one second should they pack up and be gone forever, I do hope for the potential they have and being surprised by the outcome.

As far as I have read about them, progression is sure to come. What has not been stated in clarity is whether traders will continue to represent such a vital point of "survival".

Their stashes at any given point in time could be reduced to just a few items - my favourite thought - getting rid of the hard decision of "well, I could go looting all day, facing hard enemies, expending some of my most precious ammunition in the course, maybe die --- or I could simply unearth one or two crates buried somewhere, go shopping for every single necessity except food and call it a day. Maybe ask for delivery by drone."

I would love to hear more about their future role in the greater context of individual survival.

Who thinks any one of us could actually take out a mountain in melee combat? I don't see many hands being raised.

It heavily depends on the age of the mountain range. Try to leverage their slow movement speed against them and beware of falling debris.

As for the necro: I am not sure about this being serious.

Imagine taking down the second-largest living predator on day one with starter weapons and without protective architectural measures.

What would be left to do on day two except for micro-managing your 100 stacks of raw meat?

If you assigned affinity through task manager it won't work with eac, however if you do the shortcut route and set the target to the 7dtdeac exe it will work.

I had set the shortcut for 7daystodie.exe - was actually not aware of the eac binary.
But better to have it stated here for all so they do not fail on the same route - or better even, banning themselves in the process.
