Is there any way to go back to the old version until the problem gets fixed?
Only if you have a copy of the old folder. I don't keep past binaries.
@Donewell: It seems so. We have the same problem (and all the others too). We have a POI on a savedgame - and we could not export it! A11 screwedup alot of things. Very much of new stuff added (but works not 100%fine !!!) I deicided to wait until Hal releases an update !!! @Hal: I don't wanted to hurry u I believe the big Rotation-overhaul will come in A12 - and then the really work awaits us ;) btw:Sry - Your Instructions for getting it work manually are to less Infos for me. I didn't find the info.txt for the admin-change. Should that be in Steam or Windowsstaff or anywhere else ? And in your last short Instruction i didn't understand one word - lol ("...you'd open the world in the editor, highlight the area you want to export and click a button.") Anyway: No matter! Do u think u get the editor (and backupmanager) work like in good old a10-times ??? best regards Mag out
There's always more work to be done ;) The info.txt file is in the BlockBackup folder for the world save directory. In it is a list of folders for each player. Each player folder has an info.txt file that keeps the main bits of information. Don't worry about not understanding the second part. The world editor isn't released publicly yet so there's nothing for you to try out. It's slowly getting nearer to a point where I can go to a closed beta testing but there's more functions to update to the A11 code first. I don't have much time to put to the editor at the moment so it's slow going. I've just re-written parts of the backup manager and have the saving/loading working correctly. I'll probably release the update tomorrow after some more tests. Hal
Hello Donewell, You won't notice a difference in game. You'd still use their names to use the chat commands. It's just the way the mod handles the data behind the scenes that's changed. It's changed because the world editor uses the steamID to identify users so it removes the special names causing a problem. Most of the commands will be moved to the world editor so rather than using the chat functionality to export you'd open the world in the editor, highlight the area you want to export and click a button. Hal
I still don't get the thing to work :S I'm really good in editing in the tool but I badly suck at the setup part. I know I need to change my ingame name to my steam ID but do I have to do it only in the settings or also in tha backup manager?

I'm planning to rent a server and to add all our prefabs into it next month so a working tool is welcome. I want to see how the community likes our new buildings.

I tried a manual update (was having the same not-admin problem others have described) and now I can't even select a save file. When clicking either Random Gen or Navezgane from the Worlds box, nothing shows up under Saves edit: probably worth mentioning, it's set up for local files (not ftp) and i haven't altered anything else, except the manual update.

I've got the same issues as the others using 11.4 no saves show up. also the update doesn't seem to be running, I did the manual update but there were no release notes or version history's and the version number didn't change. I still had some saves with the files in there so I was able to test in game and got the same results as before.

Hey guys, I've released a mini update. Use the "Manual Update" button in the editor to download it. It should fix the local backup manager problems and if you're still having trouble with the FTP there's now a file called "EditorLog.txt" in the editor folder. Try and load the saves and if nothing shows up paste the log file here. Cheers, Hal

hi Hal Iam sorry to say that - but now the backupmanager won't even start. I reinstalled the game new. Then reinstalled the editor. Made the auto-update - and then a munual update again - to make sure. But If i click on "BackupManager" it won't start. No Hal - it simply don't start without errorwarnings - and it don't work I filled in the settings u gave me. But i think the Issue got nothing to do with ftp (in the frontrow). The backupmanager always stands on first on local (not ftp) - or iam wrong?! Its when i want to start the backupmanager (from the editor's first top button) !!! Then the Error appears Mag out

Yeah I get the same error as Magoli "Illegal characters in path." The only thing in the editor log is "Editor Started: 04 May 2015 08:38:29" Once I click ok on the first error I get and Unhandled exception error, here's the details. Ha, I've really got to stop releasing things at the end of the day when I'm tired. Try another manual update to get rid of the illegal chars error.
Manual update button? I don't see it, I am running version 0.4
I've also realised you're probably using the XMLEditor rather than the Prefab Editor. That's running 0.4. This is a different tool.

The backup manager is working now, but I'm getting an error when I try to load the export into the editor (details bellow). The claim that I exported was made when the admin issues first started, it exported fine after todays update but I was unable to export a new claim that I made with the latest version. I looked at the save that worked and the 1 that didn't as soon as I added my steam ID and renamed the folder in users from unknown to 308 I was able to export the new claim but still got the error when trying to load into the editor. There's still a few issue but I successfully claimed and exported a prefab then spawned it to make sure it worked. :congratulatory: The main issue is that it's taking a long time to load the saved game with the editor running, waiting it out solves it so no biggy. The other issue is the folder in Users is being named the steam ID while it was like that it wouldn't let me export but once I rename it to the correct username I was able to export. After you rename it, it recreates a new folder with the steam ID again but that didn't seem to have any negative effect.

Hi Hal Backupmanager starts now and it shows worlds and saves correctly. But from then on its a fight against errorscreens - lol I couldn't export a prefab. Because when i click on "Save Player" in the BManager nothing happens. No bbb-message appears. Anyhow: Then I tried "bbb claim magoli" in the console - that worked (magoli saved blabla is appeared in game) But when i tried to "bbb export magoli" then it won't work. I tried both - steam-name and steam-ID. But it wouldn't work for me. I wonder how three08 has exported his prefab. But it seems there is a issue in the saved prefab now - when the editor shows a errorwarning then. I decided to wait - until u checked up the whole functions of the tool - before i try and try - and don't get it working 100% . I don't have much time this week. I wanna release my tool this weekend Mag out

Couple quick questions... So, if you do the manual update, should the currently available version of the tool work on a dedicated server running the latest version of the game (i.e. Alpha 11.4 [b15])? If it does work, and I'm able to backup a custom building as a pre-fab, could I say "okay, I have the prefab saved out of the current map, now I'll create a new Random gen map for my server..." At this point, do I need to have the prefab in place and ready to be added to my new random gen map, or, can I start the random gen map, let people play on it, THEN decide to add the prefab later and figure out where to put it? Thanks all. :-)

The prefab file needs to be in the prefab folder for the server. You can add them at any time and use the bb. Do a manual update and it will re-download all the files.
