MadMan2415
so I have been working on my mod for awhile and now want to move up to SDX modding instead of just pure xml. My question is if I change to SDX is the first build going to wipe the changes that I have already made if I use the modded files as the build directory? So Far the xml edits are only adding recipes Romero style Zombie edits and I added SMX (still cant do a good UI mod myself ) Just wanted to know so I can make a backup before I do it so I can have something to refer back to if I need it. DUST2DEATH
SDX will take a backup of the clean directory, then rewrite all the xmls on build. Make a new clean working directory for SDX. Adjust your current mods to use SDX. Begin from here. Profit.
manux
Just make new copies of the game for your backups, to be able to refer to them. You can also copy your current modified xmls in the "...\SDX0.7.2c\Backups\7 Days To Die\Data\Config" sdx folder, so that sdx compilation will start from those xmls instead of the vanilla ones. First run a compilation over the vanilla game install so that it creates the Backups folder and all the vanilla xmls backups, than copy your modified xmls over the backups. And make sure to read the Tutorials thread if you haven't already done it: https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?72888-7D2D-SDX-Tutorials-and-Modding-Kit
