Copendub
Every time i try to start my game with Eac enabled i get an error "The Steam client is not running or no connection possible". The game works without Eac enabled. The error always happens at the main menu right when it gets to items in the loading section. Things to keep in mind - I've verified my game files at least 20 times - I've restarted my steam and my computer several times - My firewall is off - Clientregistry.blob has been removed - I've reinstalled Steam and 7 Days to Die multiple times I've attached a screenshot of the error i'm receiving. SylenThunder
Seems like an issue with EAC connecting to it's servers based on what you've said. I would start with making sure all of the client is fully excluded from AV software. This type of issue is fairly common with more aggressive programs like Norton and AVG, or with really stupid programs like Windows Defender. After that, rather than just verifying the game files, do a complete wipe and re-install. Particularly with the EAC portion. (link) Don't forget to clean the registry also. (There's a guide on that here somewhere, but I can't find it atm.) Let us know how that goes.
Copendub
i dont have any av except for windows defender and its turned off. I also tried the repair service on eac which didnt work either.
Copendub
ive also fresh installed eac and cleaned registry with no luck

SylenThunder
Start the client with the "Run as Administrator" option from the client folder, and let us know what happens. Open your 7 Days folder location. (usually similar to "D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\7 Days To Die") Then right-click 7DaysToDie_EAC.exe and choose the "Run as Administrator" option. Copendub
Okay so i set 7 days to die EAC and Steam.exe to run as administrator and ran 7d2d and i still get the error "steam client not running or no connection possible"
SylenThunder
Did you launch them from the Steam client, or from the folder? Might also try running Steam as admin. Last time I remember EAC having an issue like this, they would run fine if you launched it outside of Steam from the client folder.
Copendub
i have steam running as admin and i went to the steam folder and ran 7DaysToDie_EAC.exe as admin and i still got the same error.

Kahless
Steam client isn't running or no connection available Yes this is a big problem, if you check steam forums the posts and threads for this problem is growing. I have 927 hours in 7d2d all were logged playing in 64 bit mode, got on my pc about 2 weeks ago loaded up 7d2d and got he message steam client isn't running or no possible connection. I have tried uninstalling 7d2d and scrubbing all traces of it and steam from my system used CC cleaner, deleted the fun pimps and 7d2d folder from regedit, tried running both steam and 7d2d as admin in many different compatibility modes. The only thing that it will run on is 32 bit which crashed constantly or running it without EAC. running the game without EAC is not an option for me as i play on a specific EAC protected multiplayer server which i love and will not play on any other or play single player which i find boring. There are many people having this problem and any and all supposed fixes for it that you can google search are either years old and irrelevant due to changes in the game and steams files or just simply doesn't work, some feedback on this problem would be nice. I'm worried that i will be stuck like this until 7d2d or EAC or both has an update as of right now i feel like a large portion of the player base with this problem is being completely ignored. yep, i have also tried uninstalling EAC, turned off anti-virus, tried repairing EAC if it has been suggested on any forum related to 7d2d i have done it, everything that has been proposed to fixing the problem is not working. I will keep checking the threads and posts on this matter and the moment someone suggests something that i haven't tried i will jump on it, any and all feed back is welcome even if it has already been tried, thank you. This was a copy/paste of a post i made elsewhere on the forum
eac knubbe
Hi everyone, Thank you very for reporting this issue, and our apologies for the delayed response. We are currently investigating about what's happening and would be interested to know what Windows version are you running? Also is it 32-bit or 64-bit version? We've reverted the live anti-cheat version to couple of updates back to see if it helps. Could you see if you're able to run the game normally now? Thanks in advance! My pc have windows 8. i3. And nvidia 1060.
eac knubbe
Thanks for your replies! It seems that the issue is happening specifically on Windows 8, we are now testing on our end locally and investigating what's happening. In the meanwhile we'll keep the previous anti-cheat version live so you should be able to play normally again. Let us know if you'd still get an issue when starting the game, thanks! @Brujo, When starting the game, do you see the EAC launcher splash screen with a loading bar? Just to verify that the game started with EAC.
ReyZie93
Hi. After 20th of December 2017 (last time I played 7dtd) when I try to run 7DTD in 64-bit mode, I'm always getting "Steam client isn't running or noconnection possible." In 32-bit mode it works fine. But 32-bit mod eis unplayable because of <4GB RAM (I have 12 GB RAM). I'm playing without EAC, because of Windows XP x64. But anyway I don't need EAC, I play in single player or on my own server. (Upgrading to new OS (Vista+) is not a solution, I was playing 7DTD in Windows XP x64 for last 6 years and it was fine until this moment) My specs: i7-2600K, 12GB RAM, GTX960 2GB, WinXPx64.
