Balance:

Skillbooks maybe a bit too cheap at vendors.

 

Bug?:

Found medical book. Teaches medical_skill recipe which costs 1 ink to craft. What's that for?

 

Medical Book should have been eliminated sorry that was used for increasing medical skill but that skill was uselss since it could not be used for anything, they used to have a Medicine skill in game that would modify health gain on items but it does not work properly so they removed it, I forgot to remove the book.

 

As for the recipes that cost 1 ink, ignore those, those are fake recipes that are unlocked at a crafting table you will never have access to, this is the only way for reading skill books to actually give skill experience towards player level for those specific skills is by unlocking a recipe tied to an action skill. Its all a bit complex bit it is the way it has to work. :)

 

I am updating soon to remove the medical book since it is useless at this time.

Update (8/8/17)

 

+Recipes

-Removed fake recipe for skill gain Medicine_Skill ( Fake recipes are needed to grant skill experience towards player level through the fake skills that go towards their respective action skills like Archery, these recipes should now be invisible as intended hopefully)

 

+Items

-Changed fake skills are now invisible as intended ( These Skills are needed in order for skill books to grant skill experience towards player level through your various action skills like Archery etc)

-Removed fake skill Medicine_Skill

-Removed Medical Book since it did nothing and was useless

-Increased cost to purchase skill books at traders

+Loot

-Reworked Treasure quality template very slightly

-Changed all regular weapon parts and weapons loot groups now use the base quality template

-Added Weapon Part and weapons loot groups for Treasure equality template

-Changed Treasure chest loot to use the new loot groups I created for it and reduced amount of casino tokens you get

-Removed Medical Book

 

-Traders

-Removed Medical Book

Considering how bad weapons are to begin with I am asking if you may re-think on the ability to craft a bed from start to allow save point for re-spawn after death would really...... really .... save on frustration.

 

Also the temperature thing in 7 days has always been awol, but I am finding I am overheating and getting heatstroke even when naked. maybe its always been like this but anything you can do to streamline the algorithms ?

 

Came across a bolder that I couldnt hit ?

The struggle to get a respawn point is one of the main features of the mod, what biome were you in when you were overheating while naked, if it was the desert then that is understandable if not then i will have to test that biome for myself. As for the boulder it is a known bug in the way the game generates decorations that sometimes there will be errors in red in the console saying something about a block not being a parent block and what is happening is more than one block spawns in the same location which can cause it to be un-hitable the best way to fix the bug is to dig it out from underground and make it fall.

Lol I know it can be frustrating with no respawn early on but I myself play on one life rules where if I die I regenerate a whole new world! :)

 

I of course would never impose that on others but I have opted to make you feel like your life is just as important as that. At least in the beginning, and if your in the desert you can easily counter the heat with yucca juice and bathing which you will need to do regularly anyways.

Stone Blocks yield too less stone imho. My iron pick does far less dmg to them than to a iron ore block. Although stone only has 1k hp compared to 3k iron, it feels like mining stone takes way longer. Additionally, stone only yields 20, iron 40. Stone should be easier than Iron balance-wise.

Stone is easier to find thank Iron since its everywhere, its not an ore block it is an earth block, earth blocks give 20 and ore blocks give 40 except for potassium and cola since those I consider to be earth blocks due to crafting gunpowder.

 

I can look into the stone damage vs iron damage on the picks but I had already balanced all of that.

I just tested it again and the balance is perfect for pick against stone and Iron.

 

It will take only a few extra hits to crack open iron than stone. Its not about the blocks HP its about how many hits it takes to break them using the right tool for the job. just because iron has 3 times more hp does not mean it should take 3 times more hits.

Sure but once one finds a mine it is far easier to get iron than stone. I have found a bigger iron/shale mine in my desert with more of iron/shale than I will ever need. Additionally, I have a stonemine which is infested with iron too xD I would directly build my base out of iron if there wouldn't be the skill wall ;)

That is why there is a skill wall, I can always reduce the amount of ore found, you would have to generate a new world though. :)

Had to make a new world again. *sigh* 11days and no bedroll. could not find it or was still looking for mats to make it. the new world was much better. day 2 found a bedroll. but it does not work as a spawn point. pick up place, pick up place. nope i die and off to the forest i go.

You need to craft one.

Search for Nails (find a clawhammer in a sink and hit things which should have nails or just loot chests) and Glue (trash). Build Workbench. Build tailor table and there you go =)

We started by making an abandoned house near a city to our temporary base. Gather stuff, bring it there. Die sometimes, but your stuff is still gathered in the base.

Dont fight, lure 'em away. Fighting in the beginning is exhausting but gets very quick better once you get settled and hit iron tier.

-Added Scrap Iron Plating for upgrading concrete / brick / flagstone / cobblestone blocks into scrap iron

-Changed all construction tools allowed upgrade items from scrap iron plates to scrap iron plating

-Changed skill books can no longer be sold to traders ( They dont want them, they have all the knowledge )

-Increased the price of Schematic Pages at the traders

 

+Blocks

-Changed rScrapIronTable to now use Mmetal_medium material the same as the rest of the Reinforces scrap iron blocks

-Added upgrade path to wood table now upgrades into a rusty iron table, rusty iron table now upgrades into reinforced scrap iron table

-Changed all concrete / brick / flagstone / cobblestone blocks now require scrap iron plating in order to upgrade them into scrap iron

 

+Recipes

-Removed rusty iron table, you now have to craft a wood table and upgrade it if you want a rusty iron table

-Changed scrap iron plate to scrap iron plating (you can no longer craft any scrap iron blocks and place them down directly)

+Progression

-Iron Working now unlocks scrap iron plating instead of scrap iron plates

 

+Localization

-Added Scrap Iron Plating name and description to show that it is the item used for upgrading blocks into scrap iron

 

+Traders

-Removed shutters1Plate ( A scrap iron block that can no longer be purchased )

 

Now you cant build a base out of scrap iron blocks of any type it has to be upgraded through concrete.

Just to make sure before I build loads of it: The craftable wet concrete block is also upgradeable to iron or do I have to use Wood frames and upgrade them to concrete to be able to upgrade it further to iron?

No all concrete / brick / flagstone / cobblestone blocks upgrade into scrap iron blocks but now with scrap iron plating item not scrap iron plate block

edit: oh, and stone is no problem. I misscalculated my need, as one stone converts to five stones in the forge - meaning i only need 20% of my calculated stone.

My personal issue with bedrolls and how much work it takes to get them isn't the spawn point factor but more about how there is no way to block zeds from spawning in a home you want to keep as a base. I literally (using the extremely weak weapons) worked for 2 in game days removing/killing zeds from around and inside a home that I wanted to keep. After going inside and upstairs to finally take a look at my future base, I dumped most my stuff in a dresser. I then placed my LCB centrally in the upstairs floor then went back downstairs (literally no more than 2 minutes after dumping my stuff). I was summarily killed by fresh set of zed spawn numbering 4 zeds. Pissed doesn't even come close to how mad I was. :)

 

 

I would recommend, if the spawn point is going to be something hard that must be worked for that the LCB have the power to block zed spawns like the bedroll does.

 

BTW, thanks for an awesome mod. Short of the incredible frustration (see above) that it causes occasionally, it's by far the best mod for single player out there. Keep up the great work!
