OneManStanding
I decided to replace the dirt floor on the inside of our defensive wall with cement blocks; we were digging trenches -- heck, tunnels! -- through the dirt under the wall by the sheer volume of bullets (around 4000 7.62 and 1500 buckshot each night) fired at the zombies trying to batter their way in through the barred door. This involved lowering the foundations a block to make sure they all sat on solid ground and obviously the dirt on the outside doesn't sit squarely against the outer wall now, so there's this little lip-trench all around the exterior which looks awful. Any way to fix that? Because the dirt sits squarely against the pois that have deep foundations.
Krougal
There is a mod, I haven't tried it because it sounds like a kludgy hack, but it's out there, I think on Nexus. Otherwise you just have to suffer with it.
Riamus
There is an option of placing something like a sheet block next to the base to hide that, but if you are shooting holes in the ground right next to your walls, that will quickly be destroyed. But it is cheap and can be replaced after each horde night if you want. It isn't perfect but it helps. And with the right paint job, it can look like you wanted it there for more than hiding holes.

Probably the only solution at the moment. The current look is really hurting the resale value on the Horde Base and bringing down property prices in the town ... probably why the zombies are so mad.
Riamus
Another option now that we have good looking hedges is to put those around the base, though that means building walls one block higher since they'll probably stand on your hedges to try and talk to you over your walls.
