Multiplayer is Rough

I love this game but I don't want to survive the zombie apocalypses alone. I invite some friends on and we get a world going, game runs good enough. We play for hours first wave comes. Frames drop to 10-30, which I would consider unplayable, and stays there till there are less zombies.

I like going around looting the custom buildings and that works well even if all 4 homies are there. But I don't want to keep looting if the waves play like a stop motion picture. I loot for the waves. I feel like you can do an infinite amount of tweaking on how houses play out and where stuff is. But in the end its not the core mechanic and it feels like it is taking up a huge amount of your time in development. The new update if anything tanked performance even more with the new textures. I have i7-8700k cpu and RTX 2080 gpu and this game never goes above 60 fps when nothing is happening online. The game needs to run to be fun for me and it doesn't run well enough ONLINE. 7 days to die not 7 days till lag.

Not sure what you're expecting anyone to do about it? No call to action? No request for help?

The game is very compute and IO heavy. It's pretty common that people who don't try to optimise it complain about low FPS, but there is so much material on how to optimise, there's very little point in repeating it over and over again.

FWIW, I can play 3 player, 128 maximum zombies alive at any one time, drops to about 45fps during horde night, but I have a decent dedicated server. During non-horde night, it's generally 90-120fps.

Are you running the server from your computer or are you renting a serve from somewhere?  If you are attempting to run the server from your computer that might be the problem.  Running the server for 5 people might be too much for your computer to handle.  Might be best to rent a server if that is an option.
