Prefabs and terrain smoothing/flush with other blocks

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to figure out how POIs manage to get terrain to align flush with other blocks and if it's possible to do in-game rather than just the prefab editor.

The best way to explain this is to use office_04 as an example. For one, somehow they got the asphalt to gradually slope downward over a span of 4 blocks horizontally. It appears to be actual terrain blocks, not just building blocks painted with asphalt texture. Also, if you notice where the asphalt meets the sidewalk along the edges, it sits flush against the concrete. If you break/remove the concrete block then replace it, the terrain goes back to its octahedron shape and no longer sits flush anymore.

I'm wondering how both of these things were done, as I don't see any more advanced terrain editing tools besides adding/removing.

I figured out how it's done. You select the terrain block with z then the arrow keys can adjust the shaping of the terrain. Terrain is made flush by selecting the terrain below the concrete (which gets flattened from a block being placed on it) and hitting up arrow key until it raises to the level of the adjacent terrain.

Is anyone aware of a list of all the keyboard shortcuts available in the prefab editor? I've picked up random keys from google searches, like g to move selection cube, but I can't find a complete list of all of them anywhere.

A lot of it is in the 'Help' text in the Escape menu:

Doesn't cover the terrain tool stuff but it's definitely most of what you need.
