  1. Bout 93 We were using just keyboard and playing Shareware doom on our 486's and having a ball.  One day I was on campus using a mouse AND keyboard doing 4 player and he was just MOPPING the floor with these other guys over and over.  I went home and immediately started training myself to use the mouse with keyboard and my K/D ratio improved once I got used to it.  Jump ahead a few years or maybe a decade and I was playing facing worlds (unreal Tourny, think we called it 2 towers at the time)) with my homies and i'm just killing them.  I didnt notice but they got sick of losing and they all joined 1 team vs me, 4 on 1 and I was just beating the snot out of them.  They never really adapted to M/K combo very well for some reason.

Old man now, ache's and pains everywhere, still got my caffeinated twitch reflexes though so I got that going for me and can play the hell out of 7d2D.

I'd love it if traders prioritised each tier by distance, and had quite a high maximum distance, so they give quests further and further away as you progress in the tier.  Especially if you keep repeating a lower tier you'll get more distant quests. This would also allow a rule that a trader won't repeat a POI until every POI of that tier, within their maximum distance, has been quested at least once. That would avoid the situation where you keep getting repeat quests to the same POI.

Now that would be nice.  Not refreshing the Shotgun Messiah for the umpteenth time that week to get better guns but instead force players to hit other buildings.  This would keep the refreshing of the lootboxes in POI's over and over.  Make it happen once every 7 or 14 days instead of every day or several times a day.

So which is it, Horde Night or Blood Moon? For me it's the same thing. It starts at 22:00 and lasts until 04:00 of the following morning. If you're going to attempt getting an air drop during those 6 hours, you'd best "be quick about your business". 🏍️ 😬

Hell the best way to make any of this viable is to have a Flare Gun in the game that allows us to call in for an airdrop within 500m of our location or targeted to where the flare lands.  Go for broke and fire it at a Tier 5 POI in the middle of the wasteland during a 7th day bloodmoon horde invasion.  Midnight on ground level for maximum effect.

I'm 100% sure in that case I'll just destroy a horde in my safe fortress before the blood night ends, and after that while I still have a few hours left, I'll go and clear those loot containers

Won't do any good.  The loot only becomes active at the moment you open a container.  At that moment the game checks your game stage/location of the player opening the container and then tallies the items accordingly.  If a different player opens the container first, then it checks HIS gamestage to spawn the items.  So if they ever set up bloodmoons as a lootstage multiplier.  You would need to open those containers during an active bloodmoon.  Hence the challenge of waltzing out to an airdrop and opening it during a bloodmoon while you are being chased by all the zeds.  Honestly that sounds like fun.

Be glad you weren't around during 16.4 when you might drive your fully loaded minibike off a cliff into deep water in the middle of nowhere 6km away from the nearest Pass N Gas.

The headache of unloading/loading the bike + setting/loading/unloading a drop chest + deconstructing/reconstructing the bike + avoiding drowning was absolutely maddening.

Remember riding around and having your minibike just disappear?  Gone.  Sometimes it was at the bottom of the map under all the earth and other times it was just frickin gone to the ether.  God I hope they finally fixed that one forever.

We had a box at the garage full of minibikes spawned for every time it would happen.   It was pretty annoying.

  6. Yea gone are the days when we would find tires by dismantling cars and...tires on the road.  It was nice but I guess they figured it was too easy.

I noticed they show up in loot containers a lot more than they did in the last few versions, I have about 5 now in storage after day 7 last night.  Target the autoparts crates from garages and autoshops, been trying to get vehicle accessories and chassis but came out with a lot of tires.  Threw in the towel last night and just bought a motorcycle.

Yes, your loot stage is updated first to reflect being in the wasteland before you open the crate

So when day three rolls around you try to get everyone to the wasteland at 12 o'clock and get the highest level and highest game stage person with the highest lucky looter skill to open it when it lands.

It would be hilarious if they doubled that loot stage number again during an active blood moon and encourage people to take insane risk to finish quest or have the airdrop opened during a blood moon.  Hide out in a kill tower during a bloodmoon?  Nah thats a waste, go do a Tier 5 POI during a bloodmoon for the extra loot bonus when you open the loot boxes.

I thought it was Beer Den, but @Urban Blackbearhas taught me otherwise. Thanks for the suggestion . I may well convert that poi into my main base sometime.

Just beware of getting quest for that location, if you think it might be the bear den, scrap the quest or you will reset everything.  That is supposed to be patched (no quest where you have a land claim block) but we got mixed reports of people still getting quest in camped locations.

And if you're about to face a bloodmoon and nobody else is likely to help in the attack, maybe use those few game hours before they all spawn to find someplace that you can survive in...the roof of a poi that's at least made of cobblestone is an option. Let them tear that place apart. You don't have to fight them, just survive them . Those birds will be your biggest challenge if the others can't get to you.

The Bear Den is my go to place for first month blood moon if I dont have my own place ready.    That place is 2 stories and solid brick.  You can set up multiple kill zones in one corner where the fire escape is.  Easy to cut off access and rain death on them.  The birds can be easily handled with a placed personal turret.

  10. Yea bout 700m-1000m things only exist up until that boundry in a square around "a" player.  If players are spread out then of course more area can be covered (and probably drives the server nuts).  If you fly up in a gyrocopter and out at a high rate of speed you will actually see that boundry around you at times.  You will see the wall around you that the game is making "exist" as you move through the map, its pretty obvious.  If you are pushing the servers llmits...hilariously....you can even HIT that wall and it will stop you in your tracks as the server loads up what is in existence gamewise and what is just a image.  I think I slammed into it like a wall a few times in the old days, pretty funny when it happened.

So when the drop happens I doubt it can "manifest" beyond that border wall and still have us watch it fall.  Thats probably the limit.  If 3 players are spread out over a few KM's then one of them would have to tell the others where they see it if they are far enough away, it may not even render for them.

I mean, inside forest cities I've had basements with like 20-25 zombies packed together, so it's hard to imagine wasteland being much worse than that.

Night time in the wasteland at any stage will be a bit different than the forest.  Especially when the heat goes up a bit due to activity.

At the very least, I hope they consider increasing the chance of a returned seed depending on how invested you are into the perk. To my understanding, perks are being rebalanced for A21, but we don't know really what the means yet.

I was always against requiring skill points (that were hard to come by early on) for farming to be sustainable.  But I always wished they would add an outside risk to farming.  Farming isn't just knowing the in and outs of plants/technique.  You also gotta deal with pest.  In post-apocolyptia with super-infected you would think we would be dealing with pigs trying to eat our crops, glowing crows flying in (set up sentries or build in a greenhouse).  Hell it would be awesome for infected zombie vegans who only go after farms showing up and beating on walls to zero in on our corn to wipe it out.  Wearing tie-dye shirts and crocs.  Tier 3 glowie zombie hipsters.

    Beware of pigs!

Yea pigs are not "free food" when you are first starting out and unprepared.  Its a fight.  Get some skill points and a decent weapon and you can start farming them though.  Gain a few dozen levels and a good compund bow/xbow and you can start harvesting every bear and buck you come across as you travel.  Your meat problems will be over eventually.

  14. Ah the farming arguments threads again, how I miss thee.  Farming caused almost as much anger and cursing on our server as losing vehicles to bugs and friendly fire.  Currently you need to either invest points in an otherwise useless farming skill tree or edit the config files in order to make farming self sustainable, something that was seen as hugely unpopular among more than a few players.

Not sure what the currently implemented system was designed to fix, but I was always curious as to how bad the alternative was for the devs.  It must have been pretty bad.
