If your only source of seeds is from crops you planted, then yes you won't be able to sustain the farm.  However, looting has increased the number of seeds.  There might be changes to percentages after a lot more testing, but the reaction today is solely based on a single aspect of farming and not accounting for the other changes made in the game.

Well now the problem is we will be forced to turn loot respawn back on or we will run out of seeds very fast if there are any other players.  Sure you can hop from town to town but even that is not sustainable in the long run, eventually in the reasonable area you have stripped the local cities and towns for seeds just to sustain crops.  Forget realism, its just absurdism.  You are no longer even looting for other things, the game becomes a seed hunt simulator.  Pretty sure thats not the direction they wanted to go.  I know the previous version made food too easy to get with crops staying the ground during harvest (we called at a key moment during play, when we stopped worrying about food and focused on other things like horde base building) but they may have pushed a bit too far in the other direction without pausing in the middle.  A single vegetable SHOULD return multiple seeds, how many is debatable.

If this isnt going to be patched then does anybody know which config file to edit to change the seed return values?  That at least is the easy fix.

  2. Well this has been informative and disturbing.  The main complaint from our group of players last night has been the constant hunger and thirst pains, we are all eating like sumo wrestlers getting ready for a match just to keep negative modifiers at bay.  We secured a location and were ready to transport dirt last night just so we could set up a farm to take care of ALL 6 OF US since we had a good start of seeds.  Now I get to tell them that idea is doa and that farming is broken.  There is no way a farm will sustain 6 of us no matter how big we make it, at least not for another month.

I tell ya this is not going to go over well, anybody know the file edit to change seed return until they "fix" this?

In the meantime its back to bear hunting.

  3. Took a while to get a server set up but a few of us were playing last night.   Also about 200m away from a trader right out of the gate so I think thats not a coincidence for any of us.  Hunger and Thirst seem to be going faster, just a feeling.  Most of us found very little in the first day.  I found some clothing and some pipe guns with no ammo.  Killed a few dozen zeds the old fashioned way and a burial and fetch quest for food/supplies.  Medical bandages seemed common enough to keep my health up.  About 4 deaths from the 2 new people and 1 from my experienced friend.  Ran into feral day 1, which is nice.

There was a few moments that required a log out/in to unstick accessing looting containers and i'm not sure why.  But otherwise the server and the game have been running flawlessly.

-edit to say the generated map is way better than previous games.  There was some nice details like the ditch with water flowing through it going through part of the town, that was handy.

Day 4, plenty of loot to go around.  Looked outside and saw 2 vultures, a wolf and a mutant bear hanging out around our base....I took down 2 torches we had up that might be generating heat....ruh roh.

At the end of my play through sure I could cook all the meat I wanted, but who wants to eat meat? It doesn't have any good bonuses. So I had fun mix and matching whatever I had to get decent bonuses but I wasn't OP with unlimited best foods. I bought 1 rank of living off the land, where normally I never get those perks and have TONS of food.

I'm going to reserve any judgement on the new system until after I get a few days into actually playing it.  I am of course going to be one of those old alpha players who will lament any loss of some survival elements for easier access for new players and more RPG elements.  But thats because I always really enjoyed the survival aspect of previous alphas in 7d2d, we get nostalgic trying to retrace that high of A15 or A16, it's gone and we have to adapt and not complain about it(and don't worry, we will.....eventually).  There is a reason I have far more hours in your game played than Fallout 4 :D.  In the end I loved the challenge of 7D2D,  It actually took some work to actually get good at, not grinding but learned skill.  And you are right, the farming system did make the survival aspect too easy with not enough effort.  I'm no fan of grinding your food out daily with watering and replanting (as some other games do) but to just plop down 20+ plants and never have to worry about food ever again was making players lazy.  That's ok, I preferred hunting to farming anyways.

haha...You don't want to know how many times I've had to watch knitting youtubes if I want to be in the same room with the family...

My wife got into a year or so ago.  I have 2 wool hats now and all the dogs have their own scarves, new small blankets here and there.  She wants a spindle now.  Thankfully she lets me pick all the shows now while she just sits there and knits.  I have to make a yarn run to the store on occasion because she frequently buys way less than she needed.  Hoping to get a new sweater soon before the next blizzard knocks out the power grid again.

  6. In every game we played with A19 we (more to the point I) would find 2 or 3 crucibles in loot long before our builder was able to make one, and he was racing for that skill.  Not sure if has been changed for A20 but looting trumps building items in every conceivable way.  At least it has in the past.  Which was sad as it was making our "maker" players really crazy.

  7. I wonder if a future update could include a "PG" rating checkbox in the initial setup of the game world.  If unchecked (or a mature rating chosen in the drop down, whatever) it would enable all the raunchy POI's and bring back all the old models for the stripper zeds and maybe add some more.  Not sure if the programming gang wants to add yet another setting into the game though.

I'd be curious to know what women would think if they added a male strip club to the game to balance it out.

A male strip club would be hilariously awesome.  Just overloaded with lumberjack zombies, even in the desert biom.

Of course! There should totally be a LGTB bar too. Village People FTW! Represent all type of people, include everyone. Even the left-handed...

We got construction workers, and cops....got a biker dude wearing leather but needs to change the hat...they have talked about adding the native american casino right Roland?..........so The Chief is not far off maybe.  I say they do this, probably public domain by now anyways.
