    There are some optimizations in A20 that were not moved to 19.5, so there are more, but have not counted the amounts or how big they are.

     

    No assignment. I just like to talk and as programming lead, know a lot about what we are doing. Most devs just do their jobs and don't visit their company forums.

    Players will probably never be able to do that.

     

    As of last week, zombies can crouch down and crawl based on head clearance. Pathing still works on 2m heights, so we are not fully 1m yet, but crawling fixes bugs with zombies getting stuck in tight places.

    A20 will be on Unity 2020.3.x. We will be doing one more update for A20, hence the x.

     

    The problem with new Unity graphics features is they tend to not support the built in render pipeline and we don't plan on switching to HDRP until our next game, since it will be a large amount of work.

    Another way to create variation would be to have some zombies spawn with pre existing damage. missing limbs etc or as crawlers.

    We have considered it. There could be some variations, but not A20.

     

    Seeing/hearing is in xml, but I think most zombies are the same.

    Torque is engine power. Increases acceleration and would determine top speed.

    We could add it, but features like, if we add them, will probably not come until near gold.

    However, If you have the right hardware, Network speed and player side is also good enough to match the host,

    I mean i wanna go from driving miss daisy to Fast and Furious off a mountain just to see how far i can jump before i die, packing 3 other screaming players along with me as i drive us to our deaths.

     

    I just wanna be able to edit this like i do for weapon damage in xmls.

    We have no control over that. Unity would have to support it.

    Probably no. We support what Unity supports in the built in rendering pipeline except for TAA. Maybe someday for TAA.

    Wandering hordes should not be changed. They are random, so perhaps you are just randomly getting none.

    Not likely. It may be even worse this time around with the huge amount of new blocks and all the RWG changes. Fixes to those types of features during experimental will often require restarts.

    This game is not done. Pretty much all games go through an optimization and bug fix period for the last x months of development. Being early access, this game goes through a small version of that with each alpha.

  19. A20 is currently on Unity 2020.3.1. I'm currently on 2020.3.10 for testing. A20 will probably end up on a slightly newer version than that.

     

    None of that means DX12 or Vulkan will be working great. Unity may have fixed issues, but there can easily be more. In the Unity editor, on the version I am testing, DX12 started to have a huge drop of 40 FPS, so I went back to DX11 and it was fine. There is a reason they still have DX12 marked as Experimental.

    It might be better or not. UE5 would not just make the game magically better.

     

    The code would probably be c++ and might run a bit faster, but c# compilers have been making good improvements, so probably about the same.

     

    Release speed would be really slow, since we would have to learn a whole lot of new tech and redo a ton of work. ;)
