  1. I know the setting of which you speak of when you say the download link is optional, but I have unchecked the said setting "Refresh Mods Automatically" and it still copies the mods from the links, overwriting any edits I have made. Potential bug, or is there another setting for this? Of course the last resort is always just to hop on mediafire and post my xml(s). Let me know what you think.

Refresh Mods automatically triggers redownloading, or re-syncing of the mod. Unchecking that will still cause the Launcher to copy the files from TempMods into the game folder.

I'd recommend using Github for hosting your mods. Many modders keep their mod files on it. It allows you to see previous changes, is backed up, etc.

  2. Also, I don't know when my post will get through, as its been about six hours now since you've posted (and I replied a few minutes after you posted, just taking 10 years to get approved by forum staff (no rush, its late)), but I verified 7DTD, moved my installation, and didn't hit load defaults in the launcher this time lmao (also could've been a factor in my bad initial experience). But Valmod runs wonderfully now. I'll fiddle with it more tomorrow and probably play around with the progression in Valmod too. Not bad, sir! Happy camper here.

Sorry for the delay! I got the email notification, but the post wasn't here.

Seems like you have something working now, which is great.

Advanced Mode, by default, makes multple copies of the game under C:\7D2D\, allow you to play mods without them conflicting. This path can be changed, however. For instance, if you click on the Advanced button, then click on Spider, you should see a screen where it shows the Destination Folder. You can change this to whatever you like.

When you switch to Advanced, you will want to delete your entire 7 Days To Die folder in your Steam folder, then re-validate. This will make sure there's no old mods sitting around. You want your Steam copy to be purely vanilla.

For each Mod you install, it'll create a copy of the game. That's around 3 to 4G, depending on which mod you want to install.

If you want to make a copy for your own mods, then you can click on "Add New My Mods". This will create an empty folder, where you can add different download links if you have them. A download link is optional though, so you can just make your changes as you would normally do them.

  3. Hey man. Sorry you are having such a rough go of the Launcher. Let's see if we can get things sorted out for you.

This launcher is really difficult to use... How can I use my own progression and item mods in junction with these mods? And how can I load multiple mods?

In Advanced mode, the Launcher makes a copy of the game, and applies the selected mod you want. For Valmod Expansion, for example, it would make a copy and add the Expansion mod. However, if you wanted to play Valmod Overhaul, it would make another copy, and apply the mod there. This keeps the mod separate from each other, and avoid conflicts.

I guess first thing is first. Valmod? Doesn't work. Loaded it up and crashed on loading the particles. The friggin' particles, man, the quickest and easiest to load. Tried several other mods and got the same thing. Is nothing updated for 15.2 yet, or am I doing it wrong? I suppose it would be worth mentioning that I used the patch for bloom and fog before loading a mod. I'll validate and try again, without the patch.

Which Valmod were you trying to use? Are you using Advanced Mode or Simple Mode? Advanced makes a copy, as I mentioned above, while Simple just over-writes the mods in your steam folder. Simple mod isn't really recommended unless you don't have a lot of disk space.

Also the UI got bugged out when I went from SMX to another mod, and the description was frozen on SMX. Had to relaunch.

How did you apply the SMX mod? And to which Mod? Most Mods, like Valmod, already have a UI applied. It can be difficult to apply a custom UI to a mod that wasn't designed for. The extra workstations that some mods create need custom settings in the UI to work. If you applied an SMX UI mod to another mod, then workstations may not work.

About my custom mods... They got wiped when I loaded in another mod. So I have to redo the changes from the 1st of the month again. Kinda pissed. I would really like to see some sort of custom mod plug-in mechanic added instead of jumping through a million hoops just to *try* and get a mod in the launcher. And after you load a mod, how can you clear it from loading again? In essence, how do you un-mod the game from the launcher, without validating? Is that not a thing, or..?

I'm sorry your changes were lost. The Launcher is designed to apply patches to the vanilla version of the game. If you have custom mods you want to do, you could create a My Mod. There won't be a download link, so the Launcher will just make a copy of the game, and won't add anything automatically to it. You can then make your changes in that, and they won't get over-written.

Ill be here for the next two hours validating and trying to figure out what all I had on my progression. Message back whenever.

Good luck. Let me know if you need more clarification or support.

  4. Well seems both got flagged... still figuring out what to do and if it's useful for me...probably it is cause I play too much 7 days and I like too many mods at the same time lol

I have a hard time playing a single mod at a time; My mind isn't really that great! :)

Which anti-virus software do you use? I can step you through on how to exclude it.

  5. Lol wait, it was due to overheating hardware? Btw, I'm an insurance adjuster, and we like work. :)

First fire was a kitten who chewed through a hair curler. No one was home for 10 hours; was a smoldering fire that willed both floors with smoth. Fire department stamped it out with their foot. One cat passed away (he wasn't the kitten) Took about 4 months to do the restore. In retaliation, I removed the cat's balls on our return, then he ran away :)

Second fire was due to a laptop charging cable laying on the bed. Power brick on the floor, plugged into the wall, but not the laptop. Smoke + flames this time. This fire went on for about 2 hours before it was caught. Again, smoldering smoke and water damage this time. Rough estimates 4 to 6 months.

Both fires resulted in a tear-down-to-the-studs work in about 75% of the house.

It sucks, but we are in a rental. We can start replacing hardware, but... meh, kids are kind of playing with each other... rather than in their rooms on their computers, so we aren't rushing to purchase stuff.

  6. Sucks about your servers. Would be a pretty amazing addition but I worry it might be a ton of work for a handful of people lol.

It's kind of a cool feature though. The Launcher already accepts a file as a parameter. Give me some time, and I'll see what I can do. I'll try to remember to send you a PM too, in case you aren't monitoring the thread much :)

  7. You run the steam program on the device you will be streaming to. In the steam program instead of the play button you hit stream from the pull down menu.

After the game launches then it is a mirror basically so I don't have access to the launcher.

Whether this works or not, if you haven't tried it I recommend it. Allows me to game on my crappy laptops and htpcs in decent quality. Useful when watching my daughter and whatnot.

I have streamed before, but never thought of trying to get the launcher to stream.

I may have to think about away to do testing on this. All my servers and workstations were lost in a fire a few weeks ago, so I haven't a chance yet to start rebuilding them. I'll look at it, and see if its something I can implement.

  8. Yeah and it runs great on the desktop. The stream option basically mirrors the desktop but the only way I know how to launch the game that way is through the Steam interface.

I love the option to launch and try out multiple mods while keeping vanilla. I was hoping to be able to launch mods through your launcher while streaming as well but it seems the only way to do it is through the Steam interface?

I've been trying to think of a way to do this. Can you Stream the Launcher itself? And it just fails to properly stream the game?

  9. Hey tbonepat11. User since 2014, and your first post is on my thread. I feel honoured :)

I don't really understand what allows the Stream option. I'm assuming it needs some kind of Steam integration, which I don't have.

Since the streaming option means that game needs to be installed on the desktop, then the Launcher would have to also be running on the desktop. Have you added the 7D2D Mod Launcher to the desktop machine?

That's the only thing I can think of right off.

  10. Sphereii-

First and foremost I want to say thank you so much for this launcher! This is the best thing ever, and I am in love with it!! It so easy to use, and for someone like me who isn't super tech savvy, it helps with the frustrations that come from trying to do each one singularly.

Soooo.....here's my quesiton. On the video I watched where I found the masterpiece, it showed the SDX starvation mod in the list, but I don't see it there. Now. Sad Face. I really want to get my butt kicked on that mod, but it's not in your handy masterpiece. I've tried to add the mod to a copy of the game myself, and it hasn't worked either time. I followed the video they recommended to a T, and it just will not work.

My question is how do I get Starvation Mod back into the list? I really would love to play it! Thank you for all your hard work on this wonderful program. My boyfriend and I recently started a YouTube channel, and I would love to be able to point people to your launcher if that's ok with you? I think it's an awesome tool for people!! Thanks so much for any help you might offer!!!

    Hey GotInk666

The Starvation server you seen in the listing was for a private, white-listed DONA server. They re-hosted Starvation for a consistent game play, rather than requiring its existing users to use a different Launcher. All of DONA servers are configured through this Mod Launcher.

Since then, they have switched to True Survival SDX, and have taken down their link to the Starvation download.

Starvation from the Starvation Team is only currentl available through their Launcher, as it is using its own repo that I don't have access too.

  11. I tried to install the launcher.exe but my virusscanner goes nuts...

I think it's a save file but I hate it when this happens :upset:

    Hi Fren

unfortunately, sometimes it does get flagged. Are you trying to run the 7D2DModLauncher.exe? You could try the other link, skipping that exe. Maybe it won't get flagged for you.

You could always add an exception on your anti-virus, but I understand your concern.

  12. i noticed...I have the JZMod on the laptop...for some reason I got confused due to multiple topics and got the wrong ones I think... Reinstalling server as we speak

Although I got 1600 hours in the game I seem to die pretty quickly in this mod.. LOL.. is it playable for only 2 to 3 players? Or do you really need all professions to have a chance in the beginning?

I think dying is part of the requirements of the mod :)

A lot of people successfully play single player, so playing with 3 people should be fairly painless :)

  13. Seems I have three files downloaded right now...

    TrueSurvival SDX Master.zip

    TrueSurvival SDX Server-master.zip

    TrueSurvival A15 JZMOD master.zip

All three have DATA, CFG directories inside...

I uploaded the first and the second... Damn, I get confused...seems I got it again in the wrong topic? :@

So I needed the JZMOD I guess? Didn't try that one :')

    Sorry

    TrueSurvival A15 JZMOD master.zip

That's the one you need. You'll have to re-set your server installation back to vanilla, since SDX changes some of the DLLs, which is what causing you problems atm :)

    JZMod is just XML changes.

Spider's new version of True Survival SDX is completely different than this one, and thus different installation steps.

  14. Cool, thank you for the log.

To be clear, because I am a bit confused now, this is True Survival JZMod, and not the SDX variant that you are having trouble with, right?

  15. Seems great... I got it too work in SP on my laptop... but now I wanted to install it on our Nitrado server.

For some reason it won't work or start the server after copying the files.

I tried both (those for the players and for the server), both didn't work. Am I missing something?

We previously had Valmod on it which was easy copy paste, I just thought this was the same, but for some reason it won't work?

Am I copying too much or too little ?

Would you mind posting your server log file?

  16. Oh it's no worries. I don't want people to struggle with installing mods; it's meant to make things easier, and not add any extra frustration in your life :)

If you still have patience, then I would suggest doing something like this:

    1) Open up 7D2D Mod Launcher

    2) Click on Spider

    3) Click on the Blue Folder icon and pick a new Destination Folder, such as C:\Launcher\

    4) Click on True Survival SDX

    5) Copy From Existing, and select your Steam Folder

    6) Install Mod

And see if that takes you somewhere better.

  17. "Note that the Starvation Launcher requires that you make the copy of the game first" .....where do I place copy of game once I download files? also.....if launcher is having problems making copy's from steam folder.....do I need to copy and paste several 7 days to die in c\7D2D folder so each mod has it's own copy? does that make sense?

Are you trying to run Starvation? Or is your goal for True Survival SDX? They would have separate install guides. I can help you with both, but I don't want to confuse you any more than you currently are :)

  18. I thinking, just from reading his responses and having not yet seen your launcher, that he hasn't pointed your launcher to the game path, and its default is /7dtd/?

Could be. There's two paths that really matter; your Steam path, and where you want to install the mods to (Destination path).

The Mod Launcher will look for your Steam Path for you, and make it available in the drop down box. The Destination path defaults to C:\7D2D, because I do not have very good imagination for names.

I think he may have made a copy of the game under C:\7D2D manually, and that might have confused the Launcher, since it would expect a certain folder structure.

  19. The Mod Launcher will make a copy of your game, then it will add True Survival SDX to it. So that's our end goal, so let's make that happen :)

Usually your copy of 7 Days to Die is found under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die. Is that where your game is install at for Steam?

Here is what you should be seeing:

    brYd7jQ.png

And after you click on Install Mod ( expect this to take 5 to 10 minutes ), then you should see this:

    gCTlbFZ.png

    - - - Updated - - -

OMFG....I made a copy of 7 days and put it in the c\7D2D folder and clicked on download mod and it worked.... I guess launcher was having problems downloading copy on it's own? so.....while I have you helping me....if I want to play any of the other mods do I need multiple copies of 7 days in 7D2D? if I play true survival and then play starvation mod will the copy of 7 days in c\7D2D get overwritten?

True Survival SDX should install under C:\7D2D\Spider\True_Survival_SDX. NOthing should over-write it. You can play other mods too, and the launcher will keep a separate copy of the game for each mod.

Note that the Starvation Launcher requires that you make the copy of the game first, before installing the mod. The 7D2D Mod Launcher assumes you don't have a copy, and will make the copy for you. This could get confusing if you are switching back and forth, and aren't quite familiar with both launchers :)

  20. No worries. I'm not looking down at you, or anyone else who has trouble :)

It's installing by default, to C:\7D2D\Spider\True_Survival_SDX\.

I wonder if the Download worked. Can you check that folder and see if there's any files? If not, then something happened during the Steam sync. You could try to choose Copy From... and make a copy from your existing 7 Days to Die.

  21. okay...I clicked on it

    Excellent.

Do you have an Install Mod button? If you do, then select your Steam copy of 7 Days to Die from the drop down above the button, and click it. It'll make a copy of the game for you.

If you have already done that, you should see a Test Mod Sync button. Click on that. Once that's done, go to the View menu at the top, then click on Log Files. In that screen, click on Upload Log File.

After a few seconds, a https://pastebin.com link should appear to the right hand side. Copy and paste that URL to me, and I'll see what's going on.

  22. I'm really sorry........I don't see anywhere on launcher where it says" test mod sync" ......am I supposed to have desktop launcher icon? in the youtube video I watched from skippy he has a launcher icon......I have a 7D2D mod launcher.exe icon? could that be the problem?

    No worries.

The 7D2D Mod Launcher.exe is good too. When you first start it, do you see a list of mods along the side?

If you do, you can click on Spider, then click again on True Survival SDX.
