  1. Just need to say that I don't have anywhere near the top AMD components either. Mine are not top tier. Top tier would 7950X3D CPU and 7900XTX GPU which are miles better than my set up, but I expected more from my setup regardless
  2. From a performance stand point Starfield is shocking. I have an all AMD system with an AMD 7900X with AMD 7900XT, 32gbs of RAM and I can only hit around 90fps at 1080P Ultra settings. That's pathetic.
  3. No there's not even that. You have to land where the markers tell you and even then they can place you miles away from that marker after you've clicked on it. It's illogical. That's why there's all the talk about there being no transport being in the game because it would compound the problem even further; the problem being that there's nothing to do in between.
  4. I'm really disappointed with Starfield. It's boring. Simple as. This has no doubt been exacerbated by how good Baldur's Gate 3 was. Starfield looks epic in scale, but is as shallow as it comes. People keep saying that Starfield and BG3 are different games, but they're both RPGs. I don't know. I wish I could refund the game but I've already spent well over 30hrs, but I haven't played the game since it was fully released (that 30hrs was accumulated from the premium version). The engine is tired, the NPCs are tired, the interaction is tired, the maps are rubbish (I had to use google search to see where the vendors were such is how bad the maps are in that game), you walk around for miles on end with nothing to do.
  5. Just read this on Eurogamer. Truth be told I've never liked Unity (and I've expressed this on a previous post), but this is totally insane. Okay so let's just pretend that this is implemented by Unity, what would be the feasibility of 7 Days being moved over to Unreal Engine 5? Looking at the Unreal 5's nanite geometry in their latest 5.3 build and the ability to use it on landscapes now, is a game changer.
  6. When I was a developer back in the day Unity was pretty bad when it came to multicore optimisations. Not sure if that's still the case today (indeed I don't even know which version we're on now), but that's the main reason we decided against using it as our main graphics engine. As Fox has said laptops rarely have the power or cooling to run the game well (other than the high-end Ryzen chips like the 7940HS and 7945HX which usually come paired with anything from an RTX 4060 to an RTX 4090 and can run the game easily), but of course they're expensive and the RAM speeds are important here.
  7. I'm Yeah this is what I do too. I also test things out in the debug mode to see the various stress levels to highlight problematic blocks, as well as to experiment with structures before implementing them in the 'real world'.
  8. Yeah I understand you. Like you my dew collectors are out in the open separate from the main base (around 100 meters away), but the idea of "drawing heat to human activity" so to speak makes sense.
  9. I thought I'd dislike the changes to the water system, but I actually think it's fine. I agree that it's difficult when starting out and that it's easier with more people in your group (which increases the chance of happening upon murky water or water purifiers), but it doesn't take too long to get to a stage whereby it's not something you have to worry about. Actually in my last playthrough I did once find 3 screamers hanging around my water collector building I'd built with like 10 water collectors on the roof. Not sure if it's been scripted for them to try and destroy our water supply but I just added some defences around it to be safe. Would be cool if that were the case because as I said, I was at a stage where water was not an issue but if the enemies decided to target it at higher difficulties, then it would bring about a new challenge.
  10. Just an update. I've managed to get it to work now. Just did a bit of tinkering this morning and discovered it was a setting I'd changed on the serverconfig. Server runs brilliantly now
  11. Hi there. I just installed the dedicated server on my laptop directly via Steam for the first time and the popup says that the server is running in the background but when I check task manager, it's not sadly. I did notice that when I first booted the server up the window with all the green writing was there but when trying to start the server now, that window doesn't pop up any more. I don't have any mods installed so purely vanilla based on the latest version. Here is the Pastebin link to the log. There's quite a few but this was the latest one: https://pastebin.com/evzjj0SZ I've read some other threads where the mod has indicated that the shader errors may be ignored, but I was wondering whether it had anything to do with the fact it seems to only acknowledge my integrated GPU (780M) and not my dedicated GPU (RTX 4070). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
