Khulkhuum
I have conducted some research concerning most of the ranged weapons in A17 and below are the results. Everything has been measured per 60 seconds of shooting and values have been taken from ingame descriptions of weapons (ammo info also). 1. Ammunition damage is different from that of a weapon, which i think stacks with the base weapon damage. This will be taken into calculations. 2. After the name it shows how many shots were fired in 60 seconds, with minimum done without any skills and maximum having every skill for shooting. Value after slash "/" represents what was written ingame for shots per second. BOWS Minimal stats shown ingame, bolts travelling faster, but shooting the slowest. Bows also require pulling the string, which takes a bit time. (maximum shots without skills-maximum shots with skills)/info about shots ingame lacking crossbow (17-21)/xx - 36 dmg, 90 velocity, auto reload after shooting, can sometimes double shoot <BUG!> regular bow (29-34)/xx - 25 dmg, 45 velocity, hold to pull string and when full shoot compound bow (26-30)/xx - 32 dmg, 54 velocity, hold to pull string and when full shoot GUNS More info ingame especially about range, recoil and weapon handling (don't know what it does). Click reload only works when you click again, only SMG and AK-47 reload automatically without clicking again. (maximum shots without skills-maximum shots with skills)/info about shots per minute pistol 115-135/180 - 25 dmg, 18 range, 8 recoil, click shoot, try shooting on empty clip to reload magnum 42-54/80 - 80 dmg, 20 range, 50 recoil, click shoot, try shooting on empty clip to reload hunting rifle 19-25/120 - 54 dmg, 64 range, 12 recoil, auto reload after shooting, can sometimes double shoot [bUG!] shotgun 44-56/60 - 7 dmg, 7 range, 42 recoil, click shoot, try shooting on empty clip to reload smg 240-315/600 - 20 dmg, 30 range, 7 recoil, hold-click shoot, try shooting on empty clip to reload, occasionally lost bullets from inventory <BUG!> AK-47 210-270/400 - 32 dmg, 50 range, 5 recoil, hold-click shoot, try shooting on empty clip to reload marskman rifle 58-69/150 - 50 dmg, 70 range, 22 recoil, hold-click shoot, try shooting on empty clip to reload, occasionally lost bullets <BUG!> AMMO Ammunnition damage is differentiated between the weapon damage, which i think adds to the overall damage a weapon can have. Stone/Iron/Steel/Flaming Arrows - 25/30/35/35 damage, 1/3/5/6 block damage, 45/50/55/40 velocity 9 mm ammo (pistol, smg) - 25 damage, 7 block damage .44 bullet (magnum) - 80 damage, 12 block damage 7.62 bullet (ak-47, marksman, hunter) - 40 damage, 8 block damage shotgun shell - 7 damage, 5 block damage, 8 pellets Stone/Iron/Steel/Exploding Bolt - 25/30/35/35 damage, 1/6/6/6 block damage, 45/50/55/30 velocity CALCULATIONS WITHOUT AMMO (minimum shots fired * damage | maximum shots fired * damage) crossbow - 17 * 36 = 612 | 21 * 36 = 756 regular bow - 29 * 25 = 725 | 34 * 25 = 850 compound bow - 26 * 32 = 832 | 30 * 32 = 960 pistol - 115 * 25 = 2875 | 135 * 25 = 3375 magnum - 42 * 80 = 3200 | 54 * 80 = 4320 hunting rifle - 19 * 54 = 1026 | 25 * 54 = 1350 shotgun - 44 * 7 = 308 | 56 * 7 = 392 smg - 240 * 20 = 4800 | 315 * 20 = 6300 ak-47 - 210 * 32 = 6720 | 270 * 32 = 8640 marksman rifle - 58 * 50 = 2900 | 69 * 50 = 3450 CALCULATIONS WITH BASIC AMMO (minimum shots fired * damage | maximum shots fired * damage) crossbow - 17 * 61 = 1031 | 21 * 61 = 1281 regular bow - 29 * 50 = 1450 | 34 * 50 = 1700 compound bow - 26 * 57 = 1482 | 30 * 57 = 1710 pistol - 115 * 50 = 5750 | 135 * 50 = 6750 magnum - 42 * 160 = 6400 | 54 * 160 = 8640 hunting rifle - 19 * 94 = 1786 | 25 * 94 = 2350 shotgun - 44 * 7 * 9 = 308 * 9 = 2772 | 56 * 7 * 9 = 392 * 9 = 3528 smg - 240 * 45 = 10800 | 315 * 45 = 14175 ak-47 - 210 * 72 = 15120 | 270 * 72 = 19440 marksman rifle - 58 * 90 = 5220 | 69 * 90 = 6210 CALCULATIONS WITH BEST AMMO (minimum shots fired * damage | maximum shots fired * damage) crossbow - 17 * 71 = 1207 | 21 * 71 = 1491 regular bow - 29 * 60 = 1740 | 34 * 60 = 2040 compound bow - 26 * 67 = 1742 | 30 * 67 = 2010 pistol - 115 * 50 = 5750 | 135 * 50 = 6750 magnum - 42 * 160 = 6400 | 54 * 160 = 8640 hunting rifle - 19 * 94 = 1786 | 25 * 94 = 2350 shotgun - 44 * (7 + 100) = 4708 | 56 * (7 + 100) = 5992 smg - 240 * 45 = 10800 | 315 * 45 = 14175 ak-47 - 210 * 72 = 15120 | 270 * 72 = 19440 marksman rifle - 58 * 90 = 5220 | 69 * 90 = 6210
Khulkhuum
Additional comments towards the calculations and summary: 1. THE CROSSBOW is currently not good enough weapon to worry at any time. This is both due to being locked behind a recipe and also low damage output. On the other hand it has exploding arrows, but do they outweigh anything else? 2. BOWS look quite promising and as the regular bow is so easy to make, along with stone arrows, the usage i think is crucial at early stages. Is it worth to invest into bows? They have flaming arrows, but there are other ways to set Zs on fire. 3. PISTOL comes out pretty good in comparison to a HUNTING RIFLE or a SHOTGUN, although the last one has a wide spread of fire and only the slug bullets do any substantial damage. On the other hand the PISTOL doesn't have such a good range, but it could help bringing down a horde easier. MAGNUM is far superior of course. 4. SMG and AK-47 are comparable, with the latter dishing out greater damage and having less recoil. The advantage though is for shooting constantly. 5. MARKSMAN RIFLE has similar damage as the pistol, but on the other hand a lot more stability when aiming (a lot less when not). Using mods for it is not required, but just like the HUNTING RIFLE, it's focus is not on constantly shooting, but hitting the right targets. In the end BOWS, to some extent HUNTING RIFLE and MARKSMAN RIFLE require precision and proper aiming to be properly useful. On the other hand if you want to dish out damage AK-47 and SMG do their job right, but also require quite a lot ammo. The middle solution is the PISTOL, which surely could be good enough, especially as you can fairly easy aim with it to hit heads, which isn't that easy with an SMG or AK-47, unless you shoot one bullet at a time. NalaAddict
"Also, only bows shoot faster with skills." Aren't you forgetting the skills for reducing both aiming and reload time? Those essentially increase gun fire rate
Khulkhuum
"Also, only bows shoot faster with skills." Aren't you forgetting the skills for reducing both aiming and reload time? Those essentially increase gun fire rate My bad, although i did add the maximum shots with skills and without skills. This means that when a new character starts shooting, there is the damage calculated, but with max skills there is the other. I'll update the initial post. Khulkhuum
In the xmls whats the difference between BlockRange and MaxRange? Sorry, i wouldn't know. Didn't check the xmls for weapon stats. I took the info from the ingame information on stats page in inventory for every weapon.
mr.natural
I like to add that the pistol with the mods barrel extender, recoil, mag extender and automatic fire + investing in the perks makes it badass
