how can i add custom assets to the game

i recently learned how to make mods for for alpha 16 , but the thing i really want to do is to add a few custom asssts or meshes as in starvation mod or ravenhearst mod .

 

i already made a few models using blender , and i have unity installed .

but every time i try to use those models i fail as assets i fail .

 

please tell me if its even possible , and if so how can i do that .

but blender doesnt seem to work with this old version of unity , what version of blender should i download to make it work ?

I grabbed the newest. But honestly, I use unity exclusively now.
