Honestly it's always been like this. It feels like it's breaking more, but there's always been a chance, especially in a big POI, that you have to go find it, empty it, pick it up and put it down again to get it to follow properly.

Maybe I just had better luck then. I mean it doesn't even have to be in a T5, T3s it was happening to me a lot.

Hey! Who moved this to support? This was a general discussion rant. Not like I am expecting anything to be resolved 😛

Which is why, IMO, removing item degradation was a huge mistake.   I'll never step down off that soap box.  Item degradation made crafting far more relevant.

Yeah, much as I hate to admit it, and maybe the way it was implemented sucked (because you had to have guns to combine with other guns to fix your gun and also the way performance degraded as the item wore, which also sucked) lately I think it would give more purpose and reason to keep scavenging if the stuff eventually needed to be replaced. As I go through T6 quests and I'm like "Oh, cool, another ql6 sniper rifle. I'll put it in the chest with the others." I honestly don't know why I pickup anything besides construction materials & lead (because junk turret ammo) at this point.

  3. I don't remember where, when the drone was introduced, I remember praising it as the best companion out there.

It just worked. It followed. It stayed out of the way until needed.

WTAF! I mean who went and broke it and why?

When I need it, It is constantly getting stuck and @%$#ing off or humping a random wall, I feel like especially at the final loot room, when I need it most, it is no where to be found.

Otherwise it is in my face. If I am trying to build it is where I want to place a block. If I am trying to plant seeds, it is guaranteed to be in the fields.

Then there is the just getting lost and I don't realize until I am like 2k away and the console pops up full of errors and then I have to go through all kinds of @%$#ery to get it back or just try to remember what I had on it and cheat in replacements. This also is seeming to happen more and more frequently as the length of the game progresses.

Is it just me or is anyone else seeing this as well? The thing was rock solid when it was first introduced and now I am starting to feel like it is a liability.

I wouldn't expect that to change.  They'd have to redo all the sleepers for all of the POIs that use this trigger and I doubt they'll do that.  And although a lot of people have complained, there hasn't been such a huge outcry against it that they'd feel they had no choice but to change it.  We'll just have to get used to it.

Or we should make a huge outcry, that and the cop vomit.

@Krougal There was a time where you needed to find the forge ahead book to be able to make a forge. (A single book, not like the magazines now) and it could take you 20 days aswell with bad luck. There were some POI´s with working forges though, but it could still take a long time until you could use a forge.

Oh, I remember. It could suck hard.

Some shader work to make the player sickly looking, probably somewhat broken versions of each gear set (the new incoming sets).. not all that hard, especially as every player is covered in the armor sets head to toe, but maybe not worth the dev time anyway.

Yeah, some kind of decal/tattoo system.

I mean it's kinda neat in PZ to go look for your stuff.

"Well it didn't just get up and walk away. Oh...wait...yes it did"

OTOH death comes much more frequently in PZ

The whole magazine system feels a lot like LBD.  Except instead of spam crafting to raise skill you have to spam loot (and hope for RNG to go your way).  You have a lot less control over your characters development.  For me, I've found that being one magazine away from being able to craft something I want to be the most frustrating thing I've experienced in this game to date.

Yeah, and then I am like @%$# everything when I see mailboxes. I mean even now late game and I can be flying overhead in gyrocopter and it's like "OOOh! 4 newspaper stands!" /me crashes into ground

My big issue in A21 is how sometimes, for no apparent reason, a zombie will get on all-fours and come at you at super-speed. Had a lumberjack I knocked down. He got up to all fours and moved REALLY fast at me. Even hit me because he was so fast. Then he stood up again.

    Yeah, absolutely hate that.

Since Feycat posted this, I have been more aware of it, and the pushing is noticeable when you are looking for it.

I just got shoved off a counter and onto another Z's head while we were clearing Two Bit so yeah. First time it's happened to me but between my spear and gun I don't usually let them get that close!

This is what happens when a dev team and the players are equally memed, it would not *surprise* me if someone named a pushy zed AI "Karen"

Oh, no, I meant Maharin in particular. Found this old gem of a reply today:

Once again you're implying things that I never once suggested. All I stated was that it is possible to provide feedback without insulting people. No, there is no obligation to do so as a consumer, but it's also not difficult. You're making it sound like it's literally impossible to do so.

Let's just agree we have different views on how to provide meaningful feedback and call it good. This is becoming a distraction from the main discussion at this point. 🙄

Ok, once again? That implies we had a previous discussion, I don't remember there being one.

I'm not implying anything, I re-iterated what you said.

You're the one who has made 3+ posts about how people should and shouldn't talk, and it's a laugh that we should all be subjected to your opinion repeatedly but when one of us presents dissent then you want to wave your hand and say "let's agree to disagree" but sure if you think it's a distraction and are ready to stop talking about it, then I'm all too happy to drop it😛

    Posted this on Reddit.

I'm sure nothing will be done with this,  this is just how I'd implement it, because to me, this makes sense.
It's how other games pull it off.

    How about...

    • Remove >T3 weapons and armor from loot.
      This encourages developing crafting skills.

    • Skills and perks are separated.
You get better at using weapons & tools by using them.
Special traits are kept to the rare books.
Perks can be gained at set skill levels, but still require a perk point.

    • Remove looting perks for easier balancing.

All that's left is figuring out how intellectual skills and crafting skills should be leveled.

    • Separate the usage skill system from the crafting skill system.

    • Unify all crafting skills of the same category into one.
No longer 'spear crafting' and 'club crafting'.
No longer 'shotgun crafting' and 'pistol crafting'.
If you can craft a metal club, then you also can craft a metal spear.
If you can craft a shotgun, then you also can craft a pistol.

    • Separate the usage perks from the crafting perks.

    • Keep the weapon-respective perks.
No more linear progression from 0 to 5.
Create a perk tree for each weapon skill.
      For example,
Players can specialize in quicker attacks, or heavier attacks.

These changes will make each skill have its own experience bar.
Additionally, it provides an opportunity for character leveling.
Your character has its own perk tree.
This is where perks like Iron Gut fit in.

    See alpha 16...

True, but there is a difference between stating your opinion that B would work better than A, as opposed to just stating that A "is really dumb game design".

The difference is tact and professionalism. We don't need to insult someone else's work if it does not meet our personal standards of quality. Additionally, truly useful feedback would be providing ideas with how it might work better. Not a requirement, but it definitely helps.

Note that I'm not stating you are personally insulting the devs, but I see posts in this thread and all over this forum that serve only as an insult to TFP and provide nothing in the way of valuable feedback.

Tact and professionalism??? These are consumers. Customers. They aren't under any obligation for either.

While there is a threshold where a customer can become troublesome enough to be cut loose it generally isn't done lightly, none of you would last 5 minutes in most of the places I have worked in the last 35 years if you expect all the customers to blow smoke and sunshine up your arse, especially when they are unhappy.

Getting useful feedback isn't about them making it easy for you, it is almost an artform of reading between the lines, and translating their frequent ignorance of how things work or even proper terminology to use.

Vaeliorin is right though. Forge behaves completely different than any other workstation as material ratio is not 1:1 anymore. You could even argue that once iron is smelted it is not "iron" anymore but rather "smelted iron" which doesn't exist as an item in the game. So why should all the smelted iron magically get converted back in no time to regular iron when picking up the forge?

As for the forge, it makes perfect sense that you have to craft materials back from their smelted state to regular state if you want them back. And this takes some time. Either that or you'd lose all materials when picking up a forge but getting everything back that has already been smelted, for no reason, doesn't make any sense.

Generator and gas comparison is unfit.

Ok, I guess I wasn't getting it. I was thinking about converting it back, which is what we are forced to do, but using fuel.

It would work to just let one pickup the forge as is and maintain its contents.

Before someone protests, either way it is unrealistic so that shouldn't be a concern.

Y'all who are disagreeing are correct, the rest of us knee-jerked and jumped on a bandwagon, but it is still a major inconvenience if you need to move and there should be a better way.

  14. 52 minutes ago, BFT2020 said:

Do any of the workstations allow you to pick them up if they got items in them?  If not, then that means they are consistent as a generator is not a workstation

Ok, good point and I stand corrected, although the resources return still has nothing to do with it one way or the other.

Still, some things we can pickup with items in them and they return the items (generator, battery bank, etc) some keep the items (vehicles) and some will not let us pick them up (workstations).

Then of course there are the storage crates that you can no longer pickup at all, LCB or no LCB.

So regardless it can use some work.

  15. 54 minutes ago, Vaeliorin said:

The problem with this (at least for some resources) is that 1 resource doesn't equal 1 item.  1 clay soil turns into 5 clay in the forge, for instance.  I don't think sand is 1 to 1 either.

You could make everything 1 to 1, but I don't think most people would appreciate needing 5 times as much clay soil.

You're not getting it. It's consistent in the ratio of what comes back out. It's the inconsistent UI behavior we are talking about.

Ok, I found a solution at least https://www.reddit.com/r/7daystodie/comments/14dn2kb/origin_ray_fail_a21/

Would be great if I could find my drone though, since it had items of value.
