  1. I would love to have a different Playing mode.  Right now you have Bloodmoon ON/OFF,  but be nice to have a Wandering Horde Mode instead ?  So 7 days Bloodmoon or Wandering Horde options ?

I realise there's a MOD for that... but just like to have it in Vanilla as an Option.  I remember in early Alphas the frequency of wandering hordes were satisfyingly high back in the day.

If this is a serious post...you need to cut back because if you were to buy a new computer you would just max it out and be back to square one.

    I agree 100 %

Yes the new CPU with new tech MAY increase 7 days performance ... but it would be cheaper if TFP just do a Performance Update instead for us instead...

  3. ATM the video card are less important in 7 days to die, it's the Mhz rate of you Single Core CPU so anything close to 5 ghz.  I'm not kidding.   I went from a slow i4770 4 core intel @ 3.8 ghz / gtx 1070 / and slow DDR3 ram at 1600 mhz to a AMD 3700x 8 core @ 4.2 Ghz / RTX 3070 Ti and 3200 Mhz DDR 4 ram and in the most congested City zones it's still just 35 fps - 144 fps (locked to monitor rate) anywhere else.

Until they optimised Multi-core optimization and actually use the GPU potential, it really doesn't matter.

  4. I upgraded from a RTX 2070 (That fried) to a RTX 3070 Ti and just got an extra 10 frames per second on minimum frame rates in heavily packed city zones ... Man I wish TFP optimise this S*   Well at least Cyberpunk 2077 runs like lightning ....

  5. One trick I use to do horde night without a base at all is que up a Tier 5 quest that would normally be a Skyscraper or large building, pre-clear it out and have Horde night in it.  Once Horde night ends you can activate the Tier 5 quest and instantly fix the building.  :)

You can do low tier quests but the buildings are usually too small and not defendable but not impossible.

  6. If it was a togglable skill like a sense skill in Last of us or batman games, I be okay with it.  But I'm also one of these boomers that really hate snail trails, arrows pointing you this way and over highlights - screen clutter annoys me, I like looking with my eyes and learning what needed things look like and knowing where there be.

Finding Goldenrod is easy, all you need to look for is a cluster of mixed flowers - often the white cotton flowers gives that away.

Recently I have stepped my difficulty up, and I have been having a blast!  But I noticed something.  Since I started playing (on and off) in Alpha 18, I have only played two main trees.  Strength and Science.  Both trees are strong and super helpful in early game getting started, so I naturally gravitated to that.  But now, been there, done that.  So my question is, are the other attributes viable to go full blast into?  I'm not trying to start a balance discussion, just getting some pointers and ideas from folks  who have done it before.   I can see Fortitude being fun, and I have heard about sneaky players (also heard a lot of complaints about stealth, but meh).  Just looking for ideas for my next playthrough.

Also, I got the game for my daughter and we play together occasionally.  She is Str and I'm Science, but we're only on day 20 so I can change that.  Perhaps your ideas will give me direction to try something else.  As always, all replies are appreciated!

    Edit: Spelling

    Vet jokes aside...

It's nice that you and your Daughter are playing together and having fun btw :)

I also play with 2 friends I met randomly playing on a 7 days to die server and found out we all have different playing styles and also flexible, and now we play many different Survival games together because we can quickly learn and adapt together which improves our survival and having fun together. :)

In 7 days to die you will want a Builder / farmer type and the other a Scavenger / Quester, Both effective fighting and using different weapon type and ammo so to not over lap on ammo types.  So Builder/Farmer the STR/FORT at 7 points ea, Weapons -shotgun, machine gun, club or sledge later specialise in heavy armor.  You will be great at building, mining cooking and farming.  Combatively you be eventually tanky with big guns late game.  The scavenger / Quester will do PER/AGI at 7 ea as well as nursing INT as needed for Adventurer and Bartering for better prices and rewards to help the "group" get stuffs early game.  Weapons Pistols (SMG end game) and (Bows or Sniper rifle). Melee weapon of choice Blades.  As with Agility pick Light armor.   This way you are not fighting over armor types and ammo types.

You can adjust preferences one way or the other as long you don't overlap armors and guns using same ammo types esp ammo or you be selling off ammo not using and fighting over the ammo you take from each other.

BTW, early game just use Padded armor since it does NOT require armor specialisation or reduce stamina or movement wearing it and it at least gives some protection until you are able to dump ranks into Heavy or Light armor and get armor mods to reduce stamina and movement loss.   Someone get 1 into cooking and find a pot so you can fry up bacon and eggs for days until you get farming up.

  8. The Silencer on the Desert Vulture is pointless, you'll still pull zombies in a room and spawn zombies in the Wasteland, unless TFP fixed it.   Only found the silencer effective on the 9mm Pistol and SMG, I dunno about the sniper rifle.

I would go - Mag Extender, reflex sight, cripple them and Rad mod.

If I had to just pick 2 - Cripple them and Rad mod ... on allll guns.

  9. There shouldn't be any reason to save large game files like MODs on Windows OS main drive, zero.  I have a 512 GB NVMe SSD JUSt for the OS (Only) and a 2 TB NVMe SSD for my Documents, PDFs and Game files (Mostly EPIC games and Steam games), I expect my MODS for any of my games be on the Game drive.  Now you may say 512 GB more than enough, but that's not the issue SSD cells decay over time and I perfer my OS SSD to be left alone for OS stuff esp restore points and recovery.

Even No Mans Sky keeps their MODS folder in it's steam directory ...

  10. Yea, once I got the notification that my brand NEW computer meets the MINIMUM system requirements to run Windows 11, I was thinking Naaaah I'm good.  I'll upgrade to Windows 11 in 2025 thank you when I buy a new system.  2025 is when Win 10 support ends except for critical security updates.

As pApA saids, never change a running system ... this NEW computer just solid.

I just think it isn't high on their priority list. It may get added at some point. I don't think they are against it. Its not like its some kind of slippery slope that will lead to auto aim or anything...

Adding Run and Crouch TOGGLE option is very Basic option in most games.   Just saying...

  12. Maybe have 4 Bandits being the most to spawn for an encounter and turn off further zombies spawns due to noise or feral sense attraction to avoid heavy performance hits.  Also scripted bandits ambushes instead of sleeper spawns in certain POIs would be interesting.

@faatal About Graphic APIs, have TFP consider DX12 for performance boost instead of Vulkan, since Unity has issues with Vulkan ?

  13. You are forgetting, if your level is low, you would most likely not find any other than ingredients to craft them - it's why you find Aloe cream 99& of the time at level one.

Your best bet at early levels is to place 1 rank in lucky looter maybe find looter goggles and sneak into the wasteland biome...

Specific understanding in game mechanics matter more so than RNG.

  14. It is pure RNG and it's not.  Most things are Gamestaged locked, if you are 1st level or you kept your gamestage low for whatever reason, goooood luck.  By the time you get 20+ Level and killed a lot of zombies, you be "I can't find (Place item here) anywhere" - it's because it's locked out unless you quest in the wastelands or get Lucky looter and looter goggles ...

  15. In my solo runs, I just run with 30 plots, 10 corn, 10 potatoes, 10 chrysanthemums.  I just craft Meat stew and red tea (for the +15% food benefit). I run with 3/3 LotL - I never consider this a waste of points because I build 7 str and 7 fort in most my runs anyways.  Also with 3/3 LotL, this aplies to wild crops and plants to, which is helpful when you redo tier 2 farm quests. A good tip, if you get a really good harvest, just make 1 or 2 more seeds extra and store them away just incase you get a bad harvest.

  16. Before Alpha 21 gets underway, I would like the suggest simple changes, fixes and tweaks to the game I personally wish happen.  For many many alpha builds, much of these things just been ignored, or perhaps not even realized by the DEVs; so I just want to bring them up again.

    * The College Jacket texture has been seriously messed up past half dozen Alphas, and yes I'm in first person view but in player screen and viewing the twisted texture placement of the college jacket on other players just looks really bad.

    * The texture of Duster / Shirt / Chest Armour seems to be fighting dominance.  When I throw on the Duster my Steel chest amour plate disappears and sometimes reveals the BDU shirt or a bare chest showing my 6-pack - cool but seems silly.

    * Some sound effects ignore volume setting controls.  The Thunder clap makes my ears bleed and nearly pop my desktop speakers, but yet everything else is set at 50% volume.  Some the new sound effects for mining is great, but some are still ear piercing.  Vehicle volume is also too loud and not adjustable unless you don't want to hear anything else in the game.

    * Let's talk about the vehicle Horns...  I understand it's a legacy (placeholder) sound effect, but maybe add a ringing bell for the bicycle, the leagacy horn on the minibike and proper car horns for the motorcycle and jeep ?

    * Some new structures have collapsed in Alpha 20, some radio towers and the COC crude oil tanks have collapsed in my solo game and on some servers I play on for no reason.

    * The pipe shotgun comes unloaded when you log back on or sometimes doesn't properly load and you have to get stuck reloading in the most awkward times.

    * The blade animations continue going even after you have stop attacking with it, this is mostly skinning animals and corpses.

    * In character creation you have an eyebrow setting that does nothing.

    * Wrench (not sure other tools) cannot be modified unless it's in the hot bar slot.  Cannot modify it from your inventory.

    * FOV... I do not know if you are using Unity's default FOV, if you are - I like to say it's awful.  Maybe a proper World FOV that less "fish bowl" like and maybe add a Fistperson / Weapon FOV as well; much like Fallout/Elder Scrolls does FOV ?   This is a big ask from me because of my simulation sickness issue and I have to settle with a FOV I can tolerate but not my preference.

    Thank you for your time.

  17. Club is the best weapon I have used over all, especially against the zombies on higher difficulties.  And here's why...

It's faster than the SLUDGEhammer despite doing less damage, buuuut the club does the same stun and knockdown multiple zombies like the SH, and you can rank Flurry of Blows to speed up the club to get that damage back up to sludgehammer range a bit (DPS wise). And it uses less stamina than the SH and the weighted mod adds more knockdown chance.  So you have good damage, stuns and knockdowns (crowd control).

I have tried the spear, knife/machete and baton right up to "end" game with game difficulty set to survivalist and insane, and I will tell you they "feel" less effective once you get swarmed.  And the Sledgehammer, although cool and the rag dolling the zeds a barrel of laughs, on a not so stable to average public server you can get hit more often than using the other weapons because of client/server latency.

  18. Only complaint about ammo is why next to no 44 ammo ?  I thought, okay maybe increase the number of rewards I can get completing quests to get 44 ammo (nope),  or maybe once I'm high level 44 ammo with drop or show up in containers ... some do, a bit.  After awhile I just drank forgettin elixir and went back to Machine guns and got rid of my 44 Desert Vulture.  7.76 ammo all days and 9mm ammon by the thousands for my turrets ....
