Available on the Mod Launcher, and Direct Download HERE

Dedi Install Warning! - read carefully

This mod contains the VideoPlayers mod, which uses Unity's Video component.  By default, the vanilla dedicated server default startup file named startdedicated.bat has a Unity startup parameter -nographics .   -nographics means dont initialize video, or load various shaders and the video decoding files needed to render video.  So you have two options:

    1.  Recommended -  edit startdedicated.bat file before starting up the dedi.

On about line 69 of that file you will see this line:         start %GAMENAME% -logfile "%LOGFILE%" -quit -batchmode -nographics -configfile=serverconfig.xml -dedicated

Change it to:     start %GAMENAME% -logfile "%LOGFILE%" -quit -batchmode  -configfile=serverconfig.xml -dedicated

Failure to do this properly will crash your dedi hard and fast.

    2.  Remove the VideoPlayers mod before starting the server.  Do not do this after starting a savegame, as it is not save safe.

  2. V5 of the Mod Launcher is nearing the end of development. It's faster, and is more reliable in downloads. Hopefully it'll also fix up confusing aspects of the UI.

In additional, it also will be the first version of the Mod Launcher that will be available to MacOS users.  I am not very experienced with MacOS, however, I was able to install a VM, and have it run the mod launcher, install a mod, and start the game.

If anyone is interested in testing the MacOS version ( or the Linux / Windows versions ), please visit the temp website: https://the7d2dmodlauncher.github.io/7D2DModLauncherV5/ for download links. When providing feedback, please let me know that you are using V5 of the mod launcher.

I'm interested in all manner of feedback: website, UI, ease of use, suggestions, etc.

    Hello sphereii,

Thanks for all the hard work. I'm having trouble finding a fix for a hiccup and I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction.

My girlfriend recently installed the mod launcher onto her steam deck so we could play the Undead Legacy mod together. Everything worked fine, mod launcher and UL mod both ended up installed on the deck, but when we go to run it the game launches as vanilla 7D2D.

I double checked that the isolated copy was selected, the mod was selected, and everything is updated. I downloaded other overhaul mods and they launched just fine. I think the problem is the mod isnt 'deploying' when we launch the game, since the first time we tried it there was no delayed black screen before the vanilla main menu appeared.

Any advice on how to manually deploy/presync an overhaul mod in an isolated copy of the game? I appreciate any help and Im sorry if this was already asked.

Is she using V4 of the mod launcher? That one supports steam deck, whereas V3 does not.

So while updating the mod launcher my anti virus caught it trying to install a trojan on my system.....

There's no trojans or any virus in the official mod launcher's installer / zip.

Which anti-virus program was it, and what did it report? Has the definitions been recently updated? Which mod launcher triggered it?

In the old version, in black and white, it looked better! Maybe business in the choice of color?

When you reduce the size of the window, the font is greatly reduced along with the window!

Thank you for the screenshot. What resolution are you working on?

I have a V4 mod launcher, which I wrote specifically for GamePass, and I still consider it testing. Maybe this version feels more comfortable? https://github.com/SphereII/7D2DModLauncher/releases/download/4.0.7.1/7D2DModLauncher.exe

Why did not I use the new version of the launcher.
    1. Terribly small font in the mod selection menu!
It's strange where the launcher was installed, I did not understand.
It's not in the uninstall programs menu.
I'll try to delete it manually.
I continue to use the old version, thanks.
From the sound of the menu, my cat peed in fright :))

Sorry it did not work that well for you.  Do you have a screenshot of what you were seeing with regards to the mod selection menu?

V3 was just a zip file. You can delete it. V4, the experimental one, has an installer.

I also believe we disabled the sound in recent builds, if you were not running the latest version.

Funny how it never worked which is why people are forced to manually do it and all the "help" you offer is denying the problem exists

Hmm, the mod launchers, over the course of the last 8 years, has bee used by tens of thousands to play mods successfully. I'm sorry that it's not working for you.  I know the mod launchers are certainly not flawless, and I'm sorry if you feel I have denied the existence of the issue you, or others,  are experiencing.

If the forums are too challenging to get support, you can join my discord. Either the community can help, or you can send me a DM and we'll see if we can sort out the problem.

I am getting the mod from their website, downloading it and manually inserting it where it needs to be - I checked the versions before and after using the "update button" some reason my one does not seem to update the version - when there is a newer version has been announced and released.

The ModLauncher uses a program called git to download the mod. This contains tracking information for it to check for updates and changes. It uses this information to download the update.

If you are downloading manually, and placing the files where they are supposed to be, this tracking information is just not available.

    Greetings Sphereii,
The update button for your mod launcher specifically "undead legacy experimental" will not update that mod which I believe it is intended to do so. Instead it has to be done manually which I find very complicated. So I would very much appreciate it if you could sort out the mod launcher and allow me to update from the button so I can continue using your launcher. Thankyou very much kind (insert preferred pronoun here).

The Update button does update the mods. What manual step are you doing?

Guess I just will not use the launcher

Sorry for the delay. You could, of course, opt not to use the ModLauncher. All mods are available for manual downloads as well.

But specifically, that error, requires you to turn off EAC in the server settings. EAC needs to be off for the mods, that's why the ModLauncher is not showing you an option to use it.

    ねえ。MODランチャーでゲームを起動すると、7dtdロゴとともに赤い三角形のマークに「!」記号が表示されているため、ゲームがドロップします。誰も原因を知っていますか?

we would need to see the game's log file to know the cause.  If you exit the ModLauncher, look for a logs.zip in the ModLauncher's folder. Send that over to me, and I will take a look.

  12. I'm not sure if its appropriate to post this here. If not, feel free to remove the post.

I have Mod Launcher V4 available for testing that leverages the Mods folder change. It's using a different way of downloading files (zip instead of git), and uses the -UserDataFolder

    A few notes:

    • It's still in development. I've been testing under GamePass and Steam versions.
    • If testing is successful, this would replace all previous ModLauncher's from me, although the older ones will continue to work.
    • There's a few youtube videos I made (linked in the other post). Better quality ones will come I hope.
    • It does not make a full copy of the game to install the mod (although it can, just not with the GamePass edition)
    • Not all Overhauls will work.

The last point should be emphasized. Some mods use BepInEx, which will not work for the GamePass edition. Other overhauls are not all self contained in the Mods folder, and won't work quite right. I've been filtering them as I find them. It may take awhile for some of the mod authors to pivot their mods to be fully GamePass supported.

For those who had trouble getting mods to work manually may have been trying to run a mod that's just not ready yet for GamePass.

A overhaul can only run from the UserDataFolder / GamePass edition if it's all self contained in its "Mods" folder.

Mods like Undead Legacy and Ravenhearst will only work under Steam, while Darkness Falls, Sorcery, and others will work with both.

    One more question.
My mod under A20 - is a replacement of the files of the vanilla. (I.e. old school overhaul). It does not use any files in external folders.
Does the new Mod-launcher support such things?

I would flag it to be "isolated". It would make a full copy of the game like all the old mod launchers did.

In the description of my mod (Classic Style Hardcore) there is a Cyrillic alphabet.
But for now, my mod is in the A19 category.
In the new version of the Mod-launcher, is the installation of overhauls for A19 available?

(...i suspect that for this need to have A19 installed so that a list of mods for A19 is available?)

  15. Linux release has been published: https://github.com/SphereII/7D2DModLauncher/releases

New youtube video in the playlist showing instructions on how to install it for Ubuntu. Other distributions may vary, but should be similar flow.

How about Cyrillic fonts support in the shell of new version mod-launcher? ;)

I added support for Cyrillic in the latest version, but unsure of how to test it.

  16. For those interested, I have an experimental version of ModLauncherV4. This version of the game uses the Alpha 20.4 mods folder change and supports the Game Pass edition.

    • It's smaller, loads faster, has a Windows Installer.
    • Clearer UI ( I hope? ) allowing more intuitive use
    • Automatically checks for Steam folders to know where your game is. If not, press ADD DEFAULTS.
    • For GamePass users, create a short cut to the game on your desktop, and the ModLauncherV4 will find it. Press ADD DEFAULTS if it does not.
    • Different download system: Downloads zip files, instead of the large git.  It's more reliable, but not as good for incremental updates
    • Displays a message when there is an update to the mod you are playing.
    • Allows you to download older versions of the mod, and play it.
    • Mods will be installed in the same place as normal  ( C:\7D2D, changed through Settings menu )
    • Most mods will work with GamePass. Some overhauls will not work currently. A popup will appear when its unsupported when you have only GamePass
    • For those overhauls, the ModLauncher V4 will copy the Steam version into its own folder, like it has traditionally done. This is unsupported for the GamePass version.
    • Modlet Support: This is coming in a future update as I plan it out. Until then, you can click on Open Mods Folder, and copy your modlets into it.

Download the latest release here: https://github.com/SphereII/7D2DModLauncher/releases, and run 7D2DModLauncher.exe.  Linux version is coming.

A note to all users: This is experimental. I would suggest go into your Settings and change your default folder to something like C:\7D2D2, to avoid conflicting with your existing installs.

I made a YouTube playlist to get people started. Better videos will be coming.
