What qualifies as exceptional loot?

I took my first mission in the wasteland. I had plenty of bandages, antivirus, first aid kit, almost a full set of purple padded armor with one armor plate mod. I don't recommend it on day one.lol

 

First of all before I did anything looked around and got rid of possible adds. That was a police captain a zombie bear a crawler a puker and three or four normal zombies. Me with a compound bow and SMG. POI was one I've never done before which was great but nothing unusual happened inside it except I had plenty of adds anyway.

 

When I exited I got jumped by a puker and a zombie bear. Went full Rambo with my SMG and still was diseased, bleeding, major laceration, and at less than half health. It was blast. I'm going to do another mission there.

 

I forget what I got for the mission. It was just normal level 1 mission stuff. 

 

That was a disappointment but I'm trying to decide what a great reward would be.  That would be whatever I wanted the most which would be a 4X scope for a crossbow. If I had a 4X scope, I'm not sure what that would be.
