But then you don´t tell stories about how you feel that the game is now ready for release and make it sound like it is your own very good idea when we all know very well that they don´t feel that way. It´s obvious that there is something forcing them. You don´t need to break any NDA`s but you also don´t need to make up a story that is so thin that you can see trough even when nearly blind...

Something like "Due to legal reasons and financial decisions that we are not allowed to talk about in public, we have to choose this way for the game now"  Would do the trick.

The obvious not telling the full truth here is, what does cause trust issues. Pair that with things like "We only removed the spawn rate slider temporarily, it will be back soon" and things like the mod team telling us reasons for changes and when the actual team talks about it those reasons are totally other ones.

For me it´s clear. Never ever touch a TFP early access again. And that´s not it because it took 10 years.

But why do they even owe you an explanation? You're not a shareholder, at best you're a beta-tester.

While I agree there's probably more to this decision than what they're saying, just accept what the Fun Pimps are willing to divulge and move on.

Out of curiosity, what new POI would people like to see in A22 / 1.0 if you could only pick one?  Sorry, no airports or yachts...😁

Would love to see some Museums, although that would probably require some specialized assets to dress them.

What about a large POI like an auto manufacturing plant? Or an indoor mall?

The reason might be because they believe that. Including me. It is even in its description "A placed land claim block will protect an area from other players in PVP and prevent zombie respawns"

Okay. I guess I'm wrong then. But why do I remember so vividly Madmole saying something completely different in a dev stream?

As far as I know, from atleast A14 up to A20, the bedroll kept zombies from spawning around it when the owner was logged in ?

The bedroll didn't work with sleeper volumes introduced in A16, and has not stopped sleeper volume zombies from respawning?

A21 finally moved that function to the land claim block and works when the player is offline yes? even with sleeper volumes?

Does the bedroll do anything at all regarding zombie spawns now?

For some reason, players have perpetuated a belief that the LCB actually stops zombie spawns. My understanding (and no, I am neither a dev or a programmer) is that it has absolutely nothing to do with zombie spawning. That is controlled by the bedroll. Once you have cleared out an area, you place a bedroll and no new zombies will spawn within the area covered by the bedroll. If I recall correctly, that is something like a 15 block square that reaches from bedrock to the sky.

I could be wrong with the details, but I seem to recall @Madmole explaining it like this, once upon a time.

    This is what your readed

"And from weapons class i don't have any perks."

When the real problem is the quality difference between crafted weapons/tools and what you find in loot/trader/quests.

    Yeah better close it now.

After all developers already acknowledge the balance problem situation and will resolve it in future.

From what I've read in your posts, you are comparing apples to oranges here.

There are two different factors to consider: Loot Stage and Trader Stage.

TS was added in A21 and will no doubt need more work as it goes along, but this is what determines what you see in the trader's inventory. Loot Stage determines what you find in loot. The devs have said that your TS should allow you to see higher level items in the trader's inventory than what is found in loot. This allows you to progress a little faster if you concentrate on doing quests for the trader. It sounds like these are working as intended but perhaps there is a way you can mod the xml to slow trader stage progression if that is what is bothering you.

Love seeing what players create, especially castles.  Unfortunately there are not many castles in Arizona to warrant a full on castle like that one.

I do have a couple of castle facade house designs that could make it next Alpha.  Will see...

It would be great to see some of the "castles" that do exist in AZ, though. https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/arizona/castles-az/

    My favorite is Camelback Castle

Are they really little gnomes who put everything in its place at night? Maybe a caring aunt? Zombies? The government? UFOs? :jaw:

My personal head-canon is that as you learn to survive, you begin to see more resources you can actually use and you search more thoroughly. So after 30 days (my loot respawn setting) I might go back through a building I looted once before and find more loot, things that I missed before.

Yeah, in the last couple of Alpha's i've kept playing my experimental save after Stable dropped with no issues.

I would expect it to be the same now.

Me too. I think the only reason we would have to generate a new world moving from experimental to stable would be if they made changes to existing POIs, RNG or add new blocks. This could cause errors if the game expects a POI to have one attribute and it has a different one. If I recall correctly, when they were working on some art upgrades during experimental this made old worlds incompatible with the new version of the game.

I've suspended play until then, but I'd like to know how long that has to last.

No need for drastic measures. You can still play A20 (as was mentioned by others), just don’t try to mix it with A21.

I would recommend using the Mod Launcher. This wonderful little program allows you to keep multiple separate versions of the game available at the same time. It simply separates every iteration into different sub-directories to keep them safe from each other. You can play A20 or earlier, or several different modded versions of A20, and the Mod Launcher  keeps track for you. This way if you have your Steam prefs set to “latest build” then you never have to worry about being able to continue a game of 7DtD.

You must be the most sexist person 😅

I'm not certain the smily can diffuse that rather loaded comment.

You are completely missing the point here, probably on purpose. The male character you chose to highlight is dressed only in skivvies, yes. But he is not wearing an outfit because he is a base character, not because the skivvies are considered a costume. He also does not have an absurdly large "package". The artist even said that he wouldn't show the female base character (presumedly in skivvies and bra) because it would be problematic, so we have nothing to compare him to.

The female @KatsPurr referred to *is* in a costume. A costume specifically designed to highlight her boobs. It is not the same as the male version of the desert costume, nor is it practical for protecting oneself from zombies. It's an outfit specifically designed to make her look sexy- short shorts, bralette, and a few token pieces of armor. Not cargo shorts, t-shirt and armor bits like the male outfit has.

The point is that the artists and devs came off looking like dudebros by doing that, rather than like professionals who care about all of their players, not just the 14 year old male players.

  11. I agree with @CultOfMoose here, although I would not have put it so bluntly. Clearly, the females in this game are designed to cater to the male gaze, but it would be nice if the artists could think a bit more about practicality rather than sex. Why must all the prominent female characters have huge breasts (and I'm not talking about zeds here)? Not every woman who survives the zombie apocalypse will be built like Dolly Parton. So far that's what we've got in Jen and that's what we were shown last night. I hope the Devs and Artists realize that just like all men have different body types, women do too.

Yeah, until you can get honey from trees, stumps are a great source.  Not sure the exact chance to get honey, but from my experience, I usually get honey once per every 3-4 stumps.

I've heard (but haven't confirmed) that it's a 20% chance on stumps in the wild and 40% chance on stumps in POIs,

In the case of friends the magazines are different than past books we've had in the game. Currently it makes sense to read any books I find and simply take duplicate books home for my buddies to read. But with the new magazines, that is completely inefficient and counterproductive. If I read a magazine and you read the same magazine and someone else reads the same magazine then all three of us are at level one and can still only craft the lowest tier. But if we all give our magazines to one person to read (doesn't matter who) then that one person can craft at level three and make better stuff for all of us.

@Roland, are you saying that the new magazine system no longer has different volumes? So, no “Art of Mining Vol 1-7” but just “Art of Mining”? And re-reading the “Art of Mining” will get you more levels in mining, for instance? Interesting.

Speaking of the map and markers.
On one of the streams, the viewer suggested initially hiding the map and adding the "Cartographer" upgrade branch in order to be able to use the map and leave marks on it.

Yeah, if I were to make a mod, I would probably add two items that you could find easily in shops. A watch (in many different shops) and an area map (in gas stations, book stores and sporting goods/gun shops). Before you find them, you have no map and no clock on your hud. The compass can arguably be said to be sense of direction based off the sun’s position, but I might add a compass as well.

in a lot of ways this might make the early game too difficult if the RNGods are @%$#y, but it would add another level of immersion.
