For the first time my starter trader was in the desert so that's where I made my base. On the way to him I killed a coyote and a pig.
It is a little more difficult that the forest. I did get jumped by a coyote once, it managed to give me a severe laceration, then a F****** buzzard jumped me and I was diseased, concussed, and one other misery I can't remember. My hp maxed at 12. But I got dinner and feathers.
That's does create more challenge except for the food. I have too much. Whenever I need meat, I whack a coyote.
Don't know what I'd do. Fewer coyotes would work but perhaps making them harder to kill would be better.

Why would anybody have a picture of the fat lady in their living room? I could sort of see it in a recreation room as a dart board.

Try killing a dozen rushing zombies with a sledgehammer and heavy armor on 0 ranks of Sexy T and come back to me ?
If I were to spec a melee character, it would be the first thing I would pick too. But I shoot you in the back with an arrow and laugh over your corpse.

Oh Great! Zombie bears. Everybodies favorite

Sexy t rex becomes orders of magnitude more important when playing with zombie speeds higher than default, on higher difficulty settings. It basically becomes mandatory if you don't wanna have a bad time on insane nightmare.
I've been playing a perception only playthrough on insane recently and honestly haven't felt too much like I've needed it. Or flurry of blows.
It simply means you have to kite enemies a little bit more.Okay, I failed to take an account game play settings. I see what you mean.

The only time I miss it is when I'm harvesting on day one and I don't have any coffee. Drink some coffee and mine, chop down trees, dig... my stamina holds up.
I fill them with arrows and finish them off with the club. That works.
Am I doing something wrong?

Origami is also a new trait?
Might be. Something to do at night when it's raining and you don't want to go outside and feed the bears. I think most people will use paper for shotgun shells though

So the buzzards are not real?
Every buzzard post I make is 100% real based on what happened to me in game. I'm not good enough to make up that s***.

Take everything you see on YouTube with a grain of salt. It may not make it to the final release. If everybody is walking around thirsty all the time with the penalties you get for being thirsty, that's no fun at all.
As it stands now I just make a few empty jars on day one then forget about it. It would be an improvement if you need to spend more time getting your survival needs in order before you start doing trader missions.

Right now, if I find one early on, I leave it alone. A full stack of paper is worthless. On day one. And you know where it's at so when you need paper you can go get it.
Looks like with this new learn by reading idea, you're going to want to clean that place out soon as you can. You may not find what you want and change your development path based on what you find too.
Edit: just occurred to me that most of the bookshelves may not have anything but paper. Still still might be a waste of time on day one.

All the YouTube videos I've seen are done by an idiot that doesn't know what the @%$# he's doing.
Including one by MadMole. He forgot boars are aggressive. Lol

I agree with you and almost all your points. You can get rid of blood moon if you don't like it. I've been playing since alpha 7 and I got tired of it after they quit dropping loot so I got rid of it.
Play the game you want to play just like you say.

If you had put one skill point into executive chef, you would have been able to make bacon and eggs and those 10 deer meat portions would have fed you all night. Assuming you found the eggs which isn't hard. It can get boring.
If you really don't want to do that, you need to spend more time hunting. Rabbits and chickens abound. Hope you get lucky and run into a snake. There are various pois that are full of pigs.

I believe when learn by doing was in the game that was the easiest way to level up your miscellaneous crafting craft like 3k forged iron and leave the forge window open.
Yes it was.

I never did that but I certainly leveled up crafting skill by making iron bars.

My fav all around weapon is a club/bat for the speed and ease of getting a solid hit on buzzards. Those guys have killed/diseased me more time than all other mobs combined. 1 is not so bad, 2 is doable, but 3 you are basically guaranteed to have a screen full of negative status effects by the time that encounter is over.
That's the main reason I keep a club around. I switch to the bat and keep it even when I can get a better club. Takes me back to when I was a kid playing baseball.

What kind of GPU are you running? Does it look like a air drop smoke? I run AMD GPU, I used to have really weird light glitches from porch lights a few alphas ago, they were like staring into the sun. its been a few updates since that was an issue for me

I'm using an old GTX 970. Sooner or later it's going to quit working and I'll get an excuse to buy a new one. Been waiting for 2 years
Somebody else is seeing this too, it is creepy.

You found one of the rare Texas Lancero cigars. It just seems like the smoke from it is that far away.
Light up a La Vera and be proud you're a Texan!

Have you check the bike for exhaust leak? Any engine codes?
It happened again this morning when I looked behind me and saw the exhaust. I think that's what I saw yesterday. it is a little odd in that it was in front of me and not behind me but perhaps I turned my minibike sideways to get around an obstacle and the game decided to put the smoke in front of me for some reason.

This is like 15, 20 yards in front of me. it looks like something is on fire and sending off smoke. When I get there it's gone

It's sort of looks like something's on fire but when I drive to it there's nothing there. It's in the periphery vision never directly in front of me. Perhaps it's some sort of weird graphics thing?

I fail to see anything wrong with overkill.
I disagree with that anyway. An Abrams would be overkill
One thing we don't have there we wish we could have is cheap hairspray and a box of matches

Well, okay. I would prefer a Sherman tank. That would do great against zombies. A 50 cal, the 75 mm canon. Yeah, that would do the trick.
