  1. Forum account and email verification is quite standard procedure for forums and sadly necessary as any weakness in a website is immediately exploited by hackers. Without email verification a simple script could create thousands of accounts per minute and flood the forum with spam or useless reports, just as an example.

You should not need to turn on 2FA as far as I know, that should still be optional (if that is what you were refering to with the verification account)

  2. dedicated server doesn't need a real steam account for downloading and running. Both use the anonymous user account of steam.

Case in point: I have never needed any credentials on my dedicated server or do any configuration work for steam access, but the server still makes steam connections when starting up. And it is obvious at download since the usual ways is to log in as anonymous user to download a new version.

The perk boost and values in xml are working as intended.

If the values were smaller, you wouldn't even notice a difference.

Think of it this way. There are 23 magazines in a loot list with no probabilities set which means each one is 1.
Without perks, I have a 1/23 chance for any magazine.
If I perk into Boomstick, that adds a 2, so the shotgun magazine has a 3/23 chance to land.
2 points in Boomstick adds a 4, so it would be a 5/23 chance to land.

If you put points into Pummel Pete at the same time as Boomstick, then you're spreading the chances out even thinner.

To notice a difference in the short term the effect is overshadowing every other magazines advancement in the long term though. Does a user really need to see it daily with his own eyes?

The problems of the approach are 1) that TFP can't make magazine advancement generally any faster because the perk-accelerated magazines dominate the advancement speed. 2 points in a perk means it is at 100 when all unperked are still at 20.

And 2) it means magazines practically don't drop if a player doesn't perk into it. It isn't really optional anymore

And 3) a player accidentally hurts his advancement in other magazines if he perks into magazine perks where he doesn't want any magazines.

I.e. it is not advisable to diversify and for example take a few points in bow because then you slow down your advancement in your main weapon and workstations.

In effect the player has to make a laundry list of magazines he needs and then he needs to put points into these perks. And the list has to be short, otherwise loot and trader will overtake crafting progression.

  4. Telrics Flamethrower and ENDZ mods have lines they could not apply. It is likely that they try to change lines in the XML that a mod before them already changed. A typical cause of incompatibilities between mods.

The more mods you use the higher the probability of failures and bugs.

I also did not see the error messages in the log that you showed in the picture. Wrong logfile?

You have to take up any mod problems with the mod authors.

  5. You have some mods installed. Has the server exactly the same mods installed? If not, that may be your problem.

If not, there could be a bug in any of those mods or more likely an incompatibility. Since I (and probably anyone else here who might want to try to help) does not play with exactly the same mods, I (and everyone else) have no way to pin down the exact issue. The logfile at least seems to show no obvious error messages. And I haven't heard of your problem ever showing up in vanilla.

Did you install or remove any mods while already playing this specific savegame? If yes, congratulation, that is a recipe for disaster.

Generally, check that all mods are updated for the version of game you are playing (I see that super glasses is definitely not the right version). Let your friend start a new game with half the mods turned off and check if the problem reappears (though it seems it isn't easy to check since your problem seems to have turned up very late in your game).

  6. There is a logs directory inside the Steam dir. Check the content_log.txt file to determine what it downloads and where to:

Search for all lines with "updated" in it. The last line in my case was

    [2023-08-10 20:25:50] AppID 294420 starting commit from "/home/days/clean/steamapps/downloading/294420" to "/home/days/clean" : 12 updated, 0 moved, 0 deleted files

It shows you where it downloads to (in my case I changed it to a directory "/home/days/clean") and when (in my case I updated 2 days ago to the last experimental).

    Compare to your expectations.

  7. Just use "app_update 294420" and you will get A21.1 stable. "-beta latest_experimental" should do as well (which is the usual line for getting experimental, where did you get the info you should use "-unstable" from) ?

Just checked myself, both lines above lead to A21.1 on my server.

serverconfig.xml is only for dedicated servers. Local or Rented. Solo or P2P games will use the save game data.

I think @shadedmj is saying he wants the setting to not change for new games.

There was a change in A21 that resets the new game settings to default every time. There was a reason, but I'm not recalling why. Will ask around.

In that case the request would be reasonable to change the default of ServerVisibility to private.

  9. If you start the server with the script that is included, a logfile will be automatically generated. This is highly recommended.

If you call 7DaysToDieServer.exe aka the game program directly, then simply add "-logfile output.log" to the calling line and there will be a logfile called "output.log" generated, probably in the directory you are at when starting the game or in the program folder of the game

  10. Sorry about "firewall" I meant "anti-virus software". Some of them need exceptions for the folders the game uses. And even if you haven't installed anything, you still have Microsoft Defender installed

The last part was **in case** you used special programs that promise to optimize game play. Even nvidia control panel may have a detrimental effect, if possible try to set everything to default if you haven't had that already when the problems started.

schwanz9000 did not complain about your GPU so you should be fine. Though you definitely should set texture size to lowest and turn down settings generally.
