  1. With how the community started getting during the wait for alpha 21, combined with post holiday season and the loss of a team member, you know I don't blame them for being a bit quieter.
    Just my speculation though

It would be useful to know how you have the server set up, and what specific things you want them to have access to. Especially because most methods to allow them to change configs are going to require allowing them a lot of other access you may not want them to have.

Also note that most settings should not be changed willy-nilly, so I am always suspect when a person says they want to allow people to change configs. If you're making changes often enough to need to allow someone else to do it for you, you may be tinkering too much to expect stable gameplay.

Will be set up on a spare PC on my network. I guess no I don't need them to be able to change config files, but at minimum they would need to be able to stop and start the server. If I'm at work but the server needs a restart for example. Or if it's close to horde night, we tend to shut down the server until there's a larger group of us available to play.
I trust them enough that they won't go snooping around (not that there's anything on that PC), and they aren't tech savvy enough to cause problems on my network even if they wanted to.

  3. I am no stranger to setting up dedicated servers, but I always solely manage it myself. I might be running a server for a group of friends soon, but I work a lot at the moment and won't have as much time to play as them, and so I want to allow a friend to be able to stop/start the server, change configs, etc.
My initial idea was to just use remote desktop software and let them control the PC (I trust this friend). But I'm wondering if there's a better way? Something to do with telnet?

Googling has provided not many useful results. I'm probably not searching the right terms.

  4. Personally I think just hearing from TFP that they still even want to do VR would be great.
I fully expect if they do it will be on the list of "after the game goes gold". It was a kickstarter goal, I think? And I know they do seem to care about delivering on the kickstarter goals still.

I know @Laz Man (sorry if ping is unwarranted) is enjoying the VR mod, and I hope he can spread that enthusiasm somehow to other staff. But we have to acknowledge that VR, as much as we love it, is still a niche and it's still probably just a 'bonus' feature that might not be very high priority.

  5. has there been any updates on this? The overlay is really obnoxious.

You have to disable it whenever not playing 7dtd or it will just show up for everyone that loads your stream. I've had two streamers I know recently complain about it. It should be minimised by default so those who don't want to use it don't have to minimise it. Those who do want to use it can expand it.
And that way you wouldn't have to deactivate the plugin every time you're not playing 7 days to die.

  6. Quite ridiculous imo. Feels sorta like you've just made things more expensive to account for faster progression than intended.
For example I could make a level 5 robotic sledge on day 3 but for the duct tape I'd need 500 cloth. I thought bones and water worked quite well already to slow down duct tape production.

Edit: just gonna add here I now think this is a bit of a kneejerk reaction. It isn't that bad. I still think it's a bit silly but 500 cloth is very easy to get

  7. The crosshairs whilst ADS bothers me too. But they shouldn't get rid of it without making the iron sights better imo.

Which they could still do whilst making it fit with their art style. Yes they're improvised weapons, but they should still have functional iron sights. Not ones that would aim at the ground 6 feet in front of you if you actually align them properly.

  8. I suppose we do have to acknowledge that a lot of us who are posting here on the forums, and complaining about progressing a bit too fast, are probably veterans of the game at this point and we're probably power-gaming and taking full advantage of mechanics we've had plenty of warning to adapt to.

In both single player and coop with one other person, I've had a quality 2 or 3 stun baton, and a quality 2 or 3 t1 gun (in my case double barrel shotgun in one game and bolt action rifle in the other) by first horde night. Both games I've been dual speccing into intellect and another skill. Completely default loot and xp settings. Not even specced into daring adventurer, as I already am questing a lot and it would simply make it too OP for my tastes I think. And also the problem with quests imo, is if you're already looting POIs then you'd be silly not to do quests cos quests are just looting POIs and getting paid for it.

How can they balance the game for both new players and very experienced players? It does seem quite challenging.

  9. Speccing into Electrocutioner, according to its description, is supposed to increase the chance of finding batons and parts in loot. I interpret that to mean baton parts.
But perhaps it's a lootstage issue. I can't play right now but I am still relatively low level, day 10.

I'm dual specced into perception for rifles as my ranged weapon, and haven't had issues with rifle parts.

  10. Anyone else playing intellect finding that baton parts are too scarce? I have 4 in electrocutioner and only 1 in robotics inventor, yet so far at day 9 I've had 10 robotics parts and only 3 baton parts.

Maybe this is within the realms of bad RNG, I'm not sure. But it feels a bit off to me.

So what happens to the jars and stuff you drink from? Do they just disappear?

This has been talked about a lot, but to catch you up. Yes just like the gas cans, oil bottles, acid bottles, etc.

    A21 is great.

But I'm disappointed by the water survival changes. Haven't seen anyone in the streams struggle for water, even just a bit, in the first few days.

This part of A21 was kind of underwhelming. I expected better "water survival" and I see a change that will only achieve to remove empty jars from the inventory.

It was intended to make water an issue again, at least in the first days/week, but it missed the mark in my opinion.

I hope they'll do a balance pass during experimental, and lower how much murky water or drinks you find in loot.

Does anyone else feel like that? :confused2:

I take it you've been watching... less casual streamers?

I watched jawoodle, guns nerds and steel, and khaine and they all seemed to be struggling a bit with food and water. Buuut they are definitely not... the best at the game, let's say.
I think for the casual player it makes it more difficult. For those of us who are very experienced I think it will just take a little bit of adaptation and we won't struggle at all.

This may sound strange and annoy the 7DTD community. I would love for TFP to cancel A21 putting all their effort into A22.

Interesting take, but I don't think it works like that. There's kinda no reason for them not to release a21 at this point. It's not like it's holding back a22, it's stuff that they need to do anyway. Besides a21 is pretty much ready now.
