  • "Clear Areas" not completing with POI clear, no visual indicators provided for missing

    Summary: When attempting to complete a "Clear", "Fetch/Clear", or "Power Restore" trader quest, user repeatedly encounters situation where POI is clear of zeds and all apparent triggers have been set, but the quest fails to complete because "Clear Areas" has not been fulfilled. Typically, the user would be given red and yellow compass indicators to help complete the objective; however, the red indicators appear only in a few rooms and the yellow indicator does not appear at all. This results in the user failing or canceling the quest. Console logs do not indicate any error occurring, as far as I can tell. This has occurred across multiple POIs and players, though one player is having more issues with it.

    Game mode: MP Host/MP Client/Dedicated MP, NAV

     

    Did you wipe old saves? No

    Did you start a new game? No

    Did you validate your files? Yes

    Are you using any mods? Yes (AHG UI), but bug occurred prior to using it

    EAC on or off? EAC on

     

    Status: NEW

     

    Bug Description: "Clear Areas" not completing with POI clear, no visual indicators provided for missing

     

    Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

     

    1) Accept any quest type that includes "Clear Areas" objective

    2) Start quest at POI

    3) Attempt to clear using dev intended path, checking for red and yellow indicators, and whether objective completes

     

    Actual result: User clears the POI completely following dev intended path. Red indicators appear for only a few of the rooms. Upon clearing the final area, no yellow indicator appears  and objective remains incomplete.

     

    Expected result: User clears the POI completely following dev intended path. Red indicators appear for all areas and a yellow indicator appears to clear the final zed. The objective completes accordingly.

    Bug occurred within the final 30min of each log, twice. In both instances, the quest was canceled.

    I just had this problem with house_old_bungalow_05, a Tier 2 Fetch/Clear quest. I cleared the whole thing then ran through the small POI several times, no more zombies. I even flew through noclip to verify no missing areas. The "clear zombies" never completed.

    I am having the same problem, compass does not show any red/yellow dots. I even tried using the killall command on console but mission couldn't be completed. This error persists in all my quests from level 1 to 5, only those who include "Clear Areas". Finding and returning the item in the bag can be completed as usual. I ran several quests just to make sure I didn't miss any room, and even nuke the buildings with dinamite but it didnt work either.

    The only difference is this problem started after my server crashed. I've been playing in a multiplayer server with 3 friends with me as the host.

    I was able to reproduce this without the HUD mod. Tested between 1040 and 1105.

    Is there a way to verify that the player profiles are not to cause? One player has not experienced this issue yet. We recently moved servers and had not been experiencing this until a few days into the new server.

    I validated via SteamCMD and tried a T1 clear quest. It did work; however, I did a T4 fetch/clear and the issue continued.

    From the logs, it looks like around the time I experienced the issue, it is throwing "Calling Animator.GotoState on Synchronize layer" (approximately 12:53). This is present in the previous log as well. A quick google search indicates this may be a corrupted player or region file.

    Resetting the region files resolved the issue. Likely a combination of the server move + update.

    For anyone else that experiences this, you can use the debugmenu > F3 > "Ch" to identify the region you are in. This is useful for keeping any built base structures. Deleting the other region files in the save will reset them. I suspect a chunk reset of the trader locations may also fix it, but cannot confirm.

    Bug Description: You can't complete a quest that includes "Clear Areas" as an objective. After killing all the zombies the "Clear Areas" will not complete. No red/yellow dots are shown on the compass. This persists in missions from lvl1 -> lvl5. Using killall comand doesn't work either.  

     

    Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

     

    1) Go to a trader to start a quest.

    2) Select a quest: Clear/Search or Clear all zombies.

    3) Go to the building and try to complete the quest. 

     

    Actual result: The building is now empty of zombies, but the objective "Clear Areas" isn't checked. And if you leave the building the mission fails. 

     

    Expected result: The mission is now completed and you can go with the trader to claim my bounty.

    I had to create a new world and copy files as described in this video to fix my world after it crashed. This bug started after that.

    Dudey5691, Thanks for that, I was unable to reproduce yesterday but I'm also hard wired to clear my data between builds, so that makes sense :). I suspected that was the case, but I wanted to do my due diligence on my end.

    @Wolfz Does resetting the affected regions resolve the issue for you?

     

    NOTE: Resetting regions will remove any changes to those regions, including player placed bases, crops, blocks, containers, etc.
