    Bug Description:

    PlayStation button icons:

They do appear when launching game in Big Picture Mode, but do not appear when launching the game normally from desktop. Many (most?) people do not like using big picture mode. Also when using 'steam input' the PS icons do not appear in any mode. Steam input is very useful for customizing the controller beyond what the game provides. Also some 3rd party PlayStation-style controllers use Xbox-style internals.

In game: Option > Controller > Layout

∴ when you change your layout to PlayStation ("Dualshock 4") then the button icons should change too. Users should be allowed to choose.

∴ I think the choice should be 'PlayStation style" because my PS5 controller is not DualShock 4 but DualSense.

Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

    1) use steam controller input

    2) launch 7D2D any way, big-picture or not

    3) regardless if you select: Options > Controller > Layout > 'Dualshock 4' or not

Actual result: (description of what is occurring)

PlayStation button icons do not appear

Expected result: (what you expect to occur)
Players should be able to choose PlayStation layout and then see PlayStation button icons in setting and in in-game tutorials.

What controller are you using? Is it a 3rd party PS5 controller?
I'm not having any issues seeing the PS5 glyphs with a retail PS5 controller.

Which Steam input option are you using? For Pro or Generic controllers?
    I've tried both without issue.

Also, the Layout tab in the controller settings is to VIEW the bindings for each controller type.

I'm using a regular branded PS5 controller, "PlayStation DualSense® Wireless Controller". My friend uses a PS4 controller and also has this issue.

In Steam: right click 7D2D > Properties > Controller > Override for 7D2D > "Enable Steam Input".

This allows, above that line, "Controller Configurator". (which allows me to hotkey (hot-button?) every toolbelt slot.)

    To clarify my previous post:

If I disable steam input I still don't see the PlayStation button icons unless I launch in big picture mode.

    Update to above:

I retested, all not in big picture mode.

With "Enable Steam Input" I do _not_ get the PS icons.

With "Disable Steam Input" or "Use default settings", I _do_ get the PS icons.

The Steam controller default settings are: PlayStation Controller Support > "Enable in Games w/o Support"

Confirmed. Will have to talk with the controller/console team and see if there is anything we can do there.

Thanks for the report and the additional setup instructions!

This should be addressed in V1.1 b14

There is now an option in the controller settings ingame to select which style glyphs you want to show

    Quote
    • (PC Only) Controller Icon Style combo box added to controller settings menu, allowing players to override automatic controller detection and Steam Input to display either PlayStation or Xbox icons

    Thank you!
