Can't connect to my Friend's server

Hey everyone,

 

so my friend started a new server and I can not join on it, no matter what I do. I have re-installed steam, 7DTD, EAC and tried many other things.

What happens is this: I start the game, it goes into the main menu, I can play single player without problems. Then I type in the server info and connect. It initializes, etc. Then one of two things happens, either the block where it usually shows the loading does not display any information at all and the server world never loads, or it starts generating hub cells and gets stuck at 72% and then nothing happens.

Stop trying to join server game thru steam client (Joining via steam invite) and join the game thru the 7d2d client.

If that doesnt fix;

the server PC needs to enable port-forwarding for the 7d2d game port.

If that doesnt fix;

Have client lower GFX settings pertaining to shadows.

If that doesnt fix;

You need to make sure your config xmls are setup properly, likely a name or number doesnt match where it should.
