I finally solved my elusive Network Timeout probs

After over a year of having issues playing on servers, I have finally solved my elusive network timeout problem!! As soon as I got on, I would be kicked from a server about 70% of the time. I somehow realized that when my laptop charger was plugged in, my Wi-Fi connectivity would drop and I would get kicked from the server (I usually play on Salty Zombies servers and I've played on a friend's private server in the past). I could play no problem when my charger was disconnected but as soon as I plugged it in, I would get a network timeout.

First, I checked on my power settings to make sure battery saver was off, it was, and that didn't help. Then I made sure network adapter driver was up to date, that didn't help.

Resetting my router didn't really yield any results either.

This is what finally fixed my network timeout issue:

1. Open Control Panel

2. Click on Network and Internet

3. Click on Network and Sharing Center

4. On the left hand side, click on Change Adapter Settings

5. Right-click on the Wi-Fi adapter

6. Select Properties

7. Click on Configure

8. Switch to the Advanced tab

9. Under the Property column, select Preferred Band (mine was originally set on No Preference)

9. Expand the Value drop down

10. Select prefer 2.4GHz band

11. Click the OK button

Btw I play on my MSI GS65 Stealth 9SE. I really hope this helps someone out there! 🙂
