Flutebuddie
Summary: World date reset to day 1 after host server was powered off Game Version: A20 Exp / b238 Platform: PC Client OS/Version: Windows 10 Server Host OS/Version: Windows Sever 2019 Client CPU Model: Intel i7-8750H Server Host CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2660 Client System Memory: 16 GB Server Host Memory: 128 GB Client GPU Model and VRAM: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 - 8 GB dedicated GDDR5 Server Host GPU Model and VRAM: Integrated VMware SVGA - RAM not available Client Screen Resolution: 3840x2160 Client Video Settings: Not relevant Game mode: MP - client playing on personally-hosted dedicated server Did you wipe old saves? Yes Did you start a new game? No Did you validate your files? Yes Are you using any mods? No EAC on or off? Off Status: NEW Bug Description: World date reset to day 1 after host server was powered off Detailed steps to reproduce the bug: 1) Install Windows update and automatically restart the host while the dedicated server is running OR 2) Force power-off host while dedicated server is running Actual result: I host a dedicated server in my lab VMware environment. I had been playing earlier this week with no issues at all. When I tried to log in this morning, I found my lab host had been shut off, either due to a power spike experienced overnight or a forced Windows update. I had not shut down the dedicated server prior to heading to bed, so everything just died. When restarting the server this morning and logging in successfully, I see the day had been reset to Day 1 (as seen in screenshot provided below), when I had previously logged off on Day 12. If it matters, the character I've been playing (because persistent profiles is ENABLED for my server) is NOT an admin on the server. Expected result: Expected date to stay static between server restarts due to any cause Additional information ------------------------------ All pasted data has been preserved in case links don't work. I rooted around for a while and found that my player skills, all inventories, placed blocks and loot stage were all unchanged. Only the day had been modified. Client log for last successful login/playtime: https://pastebin.com/7v9b0j4n Client log / logging in after host turned back on and dedicated server started: https://pastebin.com/biQXnNw8 Dedicated server log prior to crash/restart: https://justpaste.it/99bkl Dedicated server log post-crash and restart: https://pastebin.com/3NXtRDq8 Screenshot of player view after the dedicated server was running and after login: https://imgur.com/a/ohPwWe9 Player stats: https://pastebin.com/sUCY8Gis map_info.xml: https://pastebin.com/MaZ0FHHC generationinfo.txt: not found on either client or server (Map was generated on the client described above, then transferred to host for use with dedicated server) Edited December 25, 2021 by Flutebuddie (see edit history)
Star69
It looks like your save was corrupted. The log shows the server attempts to load the original game save and it failed so it created a new game save. Any time a server is not shut down properly, it risks corrupting the save which, unfortunately, happened to you. So power outages, updates etc can result in save corruption. Flutebuddie
Well that sucks, but so be it. It's not really that big a deal really. At least I wasn't several tens of days in...resetting the game stage at that point would make it a little too easy IMO ha.
